They should have been prepared for 4th of July holiday rush. The line was about a 45 min wait. Buses were delayed going to Atlantic City and air conditioning was horrible we paid for a direct trip and bus stopped 2 times to drop off riders which made the usual 2 1/2 hour ride a 5 hour ride w traffic and all. read more

We've been in line for over an hour waiting for a return bus that is supposedly coming every 20 minutes. Two have come in 60 minutes and the line that stretches through Port Authority contains an estimated 500 people. The suggestion to add another bus was waved off by the person at the kiosk. So many years of dealing with this company's unprofessionalism. Buses departing from NJ are constantly late, don't show up, or only have standing room. I'm not sure if drivers aren't showing up or if there's a dispatch issue but there's no reason why I should be waiting at a bus stop and 2 buses don't show up forcing me to wait 30mins for one bus. The NJTRANSIT app is complete garbage and does not reflect the correct times. One minute is says the bus is arriving in 5 minutes and then you can refresh and app and then all of a sudden it a 20min ETA. How??? Who's updating the app? How many people are constantly late to work depending on NJTransit? If you want to get anywhere on time you should try to get on a bus 3 hours before you have to be at work. Listen, this economy sucks. If you're lucky to find a job that's even remotely related to your "career," you grab it and hold on to it for dear life. This is how I ended up working a night shift job without a car, driver's lisence or bus route home after 1:30. What's a girl to do? Quitting, or waiting for the elusive 9-5 media job (LOL) isn't going to work, and so we turn to the 159 bus. The 159 is an angel sent from mass transit planning heaven. Here is a bus that operates after 1:30, here is a bus that recognizes that people have 24 hour lives that don't always go by the get off work at 5, home and in bed by 12:30 ritual. Or maybe you do just want to stay out with friends in NYC. Going to work is not the only legitimate activity in someone's life. The most amazing part about the 159 is that it will drop you off directly in front of three different NJ cab dispatch offices: one in Union City (the first stop), Johnny's Taxi and Scotty's Taxi. I haven't used any of these, but isn't it nice to know they're there? On weekdays, the 159 runs til 3:30, then starts up again at 5. The 156 Englewood Cliffs runs an almost parallel route to this bus, only it turns into Englewood (obviously). It's totally a lifesaver for the Bergen County denizen who is stuck at PABT when their own wack bus stops running at 1 and 1:30. read more

Pros: * Clean * On-time leaving the city. * Better than the little buses that follow much of the same route down Anderson and Bergen line. They are generally not clea, have graffiti, and cost the same. Cons: * This bus in notoriously late in the morning heading into Fort Lee. I am towards the end of the route and it generally runs late. It is reliably late. It might make sense to adjust the published time table. * Drivers will accelerate the moment you've paid your fare. This may not be a problem for some, but for older passengers, or with passengers with slight disabilities, this can be a real problem. It was quite a hassle when I was recovering from foot surgery. Give they can't necessarily tell if a person has trouble walking or balancing, they should wait the half-second to confirm the passenger has their bearings before speeding away. * The 6 pm bus from Linwood Plaza never seems come. Buses that are not in service and the 159R, which doesn't stop, will pass by, but not the 159. Why? My theory is that the bus is delayed coming in from the city. If it is NEVER on time, why not use one of the buses that are out of service and use them to pick up passengers? This is especially true in extreme cold. If there's regular a long gap where scheduled buses do not stop, why not make adjustments? * As a side note, the 153 comes in from the city and then takes the route from Linwood into Fort Lee and Cliffside Park via the the same route as the 159. Some drivers will stop, but some won't. The signs CLEARLY say the stop is a stop for the 153. I think some of the drivers just "assume" that people are going further down Bergen line, but PLEASE, stop and let people board. Would it kill you to confirm they aren't going past the Fairview garage? read more

Attention NJ Transit. Please be informed you have a reckless driver that almost killed both me and my 2 month old daughter at approximately 6:45pm on rt. 495 just outside the off ramp to Hoboken NJ. The license plate was 0XX9133. This driver cut from the merge lane through all three traffic lanes to get across not realizing I was already in the left lane. The driver did not stop and ran me into the barrier causing damage to my tires. I will continue to contact both your customer care and post on your site and my newsfeed to make sure everyone knows that this driver is reckless and should be fired. I would like a formal apology from this driver and he also get a suspension because they should not be driving so reckless which such a large vehicle. read more
