Nitro!

Probably the best swimming school for children! The teachers are very dedicated. The kids don't just learn swimming here. They also learn how to be good people.

I've been taking my son here since December 2018. He's definitely improved his swimming in general. They work on form and technique, which you can see the difference in just a few lessons. Reading the other reviews, I agree that it gets crowded during the weekends, but it's really the only time I have to take my son to classes. During the week it's extremely hard especially because it's a little farther from our house. A few reasons I don't give 5 stars are: 1. Changing rooms for my case (mom with son) are just not enough. And people really take a long time there. So for a 30 min lesson, waiting another 30mins to change it's hard when your child is wet and getting cold. 2. The inability to make up classes or get refunds. You need to sign up for the whole month and if there is an emergency, trip, sickness, they only give you the option to get another complimentary class, however, you need to call the morning you can make up the time to see if there are any spots available. It's a very restrictive policy. Especially for parents that have a full schedule like me. Overall, I'm pleased with the results, hence I continue taking my son here. In comparison to other places that offer the same, I feel that nitro exceeds my expectations. The fact that it gets so crowded still if people are not completely happy with the policies, it just shows that their program works and a lot of parents see results. My son went from being afraid of the water to become an avid swimmer today.

I have a 20 month old that has really enjoyed swimming at Nitro. The instructors are wonderful and the facilities are pretty good too.

I'm changing my review from 1 star to 4. The owner reached out to us, in regards to our issue and we are going to give nitro another chance.

Going here for years for adult & kid classes; we love the place. Just found out that they also have the softest toilet-paper in town :-)

My 6 year old has been attending classes at Emler off and on since she was two years old. She loves…read moreswimming and has progressed nicely at Emler. Overall, I am satisfied with our experience here, but there are pros and cons to keep in mind. Pros: - Some teachers are excellent. - With kids that have water fears or are struggling, there is a secondary teacher that steps in to help. - Teachers are typically patient and compassionate. - Strong curriculum. - Generous makeup policy for missed classes. - Clean pool Cons: - Very expensive - 4 students to 1 teacher ratio for only 30 minute class time. - I have to follow up constantly with staff on evaluations and determining whether she's ready to move up a level. I wish they'd be more proactive about this. - Crowded waiting + changing rooms. - Difficult to get in touch with (no one answers the phone here).

We decided to discontinue private swimming lessons for our son due to lack of structure and…read moreprogress. Over time, he was assigned to multiple different instructors, which made consistency difficult. For private lessons, we expected a more thoughtful instructor match--especially given our son's high energy level. A stricter, more experienced teacher would have been far more appropriate, but that never happened. There were no clear goals, milestones, or timeline communicated for when progress should be expected or when he might advance to the next level. It felt less like skill-building and more like unstructured "play time." If the intention is simply fun and entertainment, that's something we could achieve by visiting a resort or renting a private pool elsewhere. This program may work for families with an unlimited budget who aren't concerned about measurable progress, but for us, the lack of accountability and clear expectations made it hard to justify continuing.

She was so nervous when we started at Waterloo and was up to her old tricks again with the "potty excuse", but we got the BEST teacher for our little girl. Ms. Ashton is AMAZING. She's fun, playful, sweet, encouraging, AND balances it with teaching and pushing my little girl. I'm amazed at how Ms. Ashton keeps track of where each kiddo is at in terms of their skills and what they like/don't like. She is patient and an absolute gem. I cannot rave about her and Waterloo as a whole enough. Just a few comments about Waterloo - we have had an amazing experience. From 2 of our kids being tentative to swimming to now loving it and seeing all the growth in their swimming is incredible. Today I watched one of my kids swim the length of the big pool and do a flip turn. There is no way I can do that as an adult. I'm amazed at not just the skills they are learning, but also the attention to form and technique. So very grateful to have lessons at an indoor pool, indoor seating for parents, and such kind staff (from teachers to the people who man the info email box).

Their coach, Ms.Campbell has been very friendly and knowledgeable. My kids were afraid of going inside the pool and used to hold on to her with dear life now they happily jump to the water, float and even dive-in. The front desk staff is very nice also! I can easily book make up lessons and they called my kids by their names as soon as they come in. The facility is great. Once in a while I found the bathroom is a little dirty but it could be from the previous classes. They just recently updated their rinse area and put some lights under the water and that was nice. I was very skeptical about having a slow progress, apparently pretty common in swimming school, however I don't feel that way. I feel like my kids taking their time learning how to use the right technique rather than just float away.

Traumatizing to say the least!…read more Took our 3 year old for her first swimming class and we were so excited. First thing they did was dunk her all the way in the water and she, of course, swallowed a lot of water and cried so hard. It took a while for another adult to come and "comfort her" which they really didn't offer true comfort. She was still crying and within the next two minutes it was her turn again and she screamed "nooo" and was kicking and screaming and the instructor dunked her all the way into the water AGAIN with her mouth wide open. Nothing short of torture! I quickly got up to take her out of the class. As a trauma informed practitioner, I know the importance of respecting people's "no's" and going at the pace of the child's body. My daughter was not ready to do that again and I was told over the phone that if she wasn't ready, they would practice only getting her chin in the water, and then the next round her nose and then her eyes, etc. that was not the case at all. When I took her out, one of the instructors said "she was doing great". I don't know in what world a terrified toddler whose agency just got taken away is considered doing "great" but I have never seen my daughter in more distress in my life. I am so glad I was brave enough to listen to my mom instinct and take her out of the class. I learned how to swim without the torture of drowning. This was not ok. I feel terrible about ever bringing my daughter to experience this. Absolutely terrible. I couldn't sleep last night and every time I replay it in my head, my heart hurts. What I would recommend doing instead is actually building a relationship of trust and respect with each child and going at their pace. I understand it's a short amount of time but the "cry it out" type of system in place is embarrassingly outdated and harmful.

I wish I could give this place zero stars. What started as a "free intro stretch" turned into a…read morefinancial nightmare and a masterclass in deceptive business practices. At the time of sign-up, I clearly told the salesperson I only wanted to do three months and want to cancel after that to reevaluate what (if anything) I needed going forward. They smiled, nodded, and assured me it was no problem -- that served as my cancelation notice after my initial 3 months. What they conveniently relied on behind that deceptive smile is you not asking for receipt of that preemptive cancellation request of their auto-renew contract and the mandatory 30-day cancellation notice that has to be submitted on their exact terms. Sure enough, when the three months were up, they acted like none of that conversation ever happened. The charge rolled in: $329 for another month. This isn't just bad customer service; this is a business model built on trapping customers with impossible auto-renewals and hoping you'll give up fighting the endless billing. If their services were great, they wouldn't need contracts and credits. Like my massage therapist, they'd just take your appointment on demand and tell they look forward to seeing you again. But this business knows you won't need them, but they will charge your credit card one more time before you head out the door and tell you there is nothing you can do about it. There is in my case because Amex already refunded me the money and will be addressing this with this con artist company. Let's also address how your monthly charge gives you credits -- credits that expire on a weird 4-week calendar so you lose paid time even when you show up religiously. Once again, if this were an ethical business, you'd just pay for credits that could be used whenever. StretchLab isn't in the stretching business. They're in the recurring-billing-trap business. Save yourself the headache, the money, and the rage. Do not sign up. Do not give them your card. Do not walk through their door. There are plenty of legitimate stretch therapists out there who won't treat your bank account like their personal piggy bank and pretend you just should have paid more attention. If they were ethical, they wouldn't need a 31 day cancelation policy. If they were ethical, they would refund your money when there was any miscommunication-- particularly on their own part! Take a look at the arrogant email in the photo of this review sent to me stating that they will fight the chargeback for those fees. To call this customer service would be their biggest stretch yet. Never again, folks. Run.

But honestly, I've been walking past for a while, looking through the window saying "I need to try this", and I finally went in. From the moment I walked in, everyone was super nice. I got checked in by Maliq, and he took me over to get started. He asked about my problem areas and what I had going on, and then got right to work. Now listen... I had no idea how NOT flexible I was. Baby, I am not a spring chicken anymore but he was very patient with me the whole time. It was definitely a no judgment zone, which I appreciated. He made me feel comfortable, and the stretch itself? Oh, it was stretching stretching. Not painful, but that good kind of stretch where you know it's doing something. Afterwards, they did go over pricing and packages, but there was no pressure at all, which I really liked. It felt like he genuinely cared about what he was doing and not just trying to make a sale. I ended up leaving with a 50-minute intro session, so we'll see how that goes in a couple of weeks. But I will say I walked out feeling more mobile than when I walked in, and that alone says a lot. I feel like if I stay consistent, I'll definitely gain more mobility and flexibility, which honestly we all need... no matter your age. The facility was very clean, and I noticed they wiped everything down thoroughly after each person, which is always a plus. I didn't get any pictures this time, but I will when I go back. My daughter was with me and ended up purchasing a 50-minute intro package too. Overall 10/10, I would highly recommend. Just know... I walked in stiff and walked out questioning all my life choices that led to me being that tight but we working on it. Time to get mobile again.
