April 10th about 6pm. Walked in. We were greeted nicely. Three people at the bar. Nobody at a table. We sat at the table. The waitress stood talking to the cook We waited five minutes or so. Waitress still chatting with the cook. We got upto leave, when we got to the door, waitress said, oh you are leaving and laughed. Tried to support local establishment, never there again. read more

Today's lunch visit super disappointed. Asked for coke, "sorry we are sold out". Asked for pretzel bites with cheese, "sorry sold out of cheese". Arrived 12 noon no customers in restaurant, when I left only 2 others were there for lunch. Not a good sign. Service was friendly, but had to ask for napkins, ask for silverware, ask for salt and pepper, ketchup was empty on table. Had to ask for all those things. Bottom line a big step backwards from last time I ate there with more expensive pricing. read more

Hi. I just wanted to say that I've been a regular for over a year. I loved night light. I gravitate toward the hardworking people who work at bars. Kris, Ce'Ce, Josh, Karissa, Hannah and the crew are great people. They welcomed me with open arms, were so fun, and were a big reason I came. I learned that they'd resigned out of allegations that they were skimming takeout charges. They wouldn't do that. I don't believe it in the slightest. Also, DoorDash takes a cut unknown to many companies. I will no longer frequent this establishment. I realize the owner is trying to secure his business, but I believe he looked at the wrong place. When going to a community bar this is what you expect. Clean, decent prices, good food, good service. I was acknowledged pretty soon after walking in and taking a seat. The burger and fries I ordered were well made and just as I asked. The food around the table looked delicious as well with healthier options such as sandwiches in a bowl. We decided to try Nite Life because they had outdoor seating. During covid I always try to sit outside if possible. We had a table of 5 and we all enjoyed our food. I got the triple b, and my dad got the mushroom burger. Very tasty. My husband got the steak hoagie and devoured it. My mom got the turkey club and my daughter had the kids hamburger. The beer was cold. They had an outside band playing and she was amazing. We would eat here again. read more

Practically the epitome of a hole-in-the-wall dive bar, minus the little bits of charm and personality to make it worthwhile. The jukebox is the best part here, and most of the time the music is alternative kitsch, like Flight of the Conchords type of stuff, which I totally dig, but the atmosphere is very plain and borderline unsanitary. People here usually seem bored to me... I've noticed a lot of people just sitting in silence which makes Night Light feel more like a restaurant than a bar. Reflecting back on my past visits, I liken Night Light to hanging out at a collegiate male's apartment... There's beer, wobbly stools, awkward conversations, decent tunes, and microwaved appetizers. read more

Night Light was smoke free from the beginning and I love them for that. Not only do they get a five star review and my respect for that, their food is amazing. The service can be slow because they have a small kitchen, but it is well worth the wait. OH! And the bathrooms....one of the best parts are the unique bathrooms....no joke. Over the top. That's about the only way to describe this place's food options. Service was a bit wonky, hence there's no 5 stars here, but the owner was profusely apologetic for mistakes made and comped our meal as a result of some issues the kitchen was having with getting orders out. Once we got our food, it was A+, and frankly, the menu item cost was well worth it at full price. Had a table of 7 total and we had two sticky burgers and 5 salads. The salads were massive, and the sticky burgers lived up to their namesake. I'll definitely be back. read more

All I can say is, try the fish sandwich and the cheese steak hoagie...they're both great! We go all over looking for places that have above average food for reasonable prices and this is one of our favorites. We also like Chilango's for Mexican food (fajitas are their specialty), Fazoli's for Italian (don't laugh, their sauce and breadsticks are better than Olive Garden), and Real Seafood in Ann Arbor when it's a birthday. I don't know why some others had problems with service, but we're not shy about getting up and going to the bar if we need something right away. It's a place that cares about the quality of their food and they don't put that preservative crap on their lettuce like a lot of restaurants do these days, which ruins the taste in my opinion. Just don't go here when we do because if it gets too busy we won't get as good of service either! read more

If you're from the east side, then you'll understand what I mean when I say their burgers are right up there with SideTracks in Ypsilanti, and Red Coat Tavern in Royal Oak. One of my favorite places in Jackson. A Simple Menu that is executed with consistency and care. Beverages are cold and the service is pragmatic and friendly. It could get a little better in the tidiness department. It's not dirty, it simply needs a deep clean and restroom maintenance. I love this place, the fried fish sandwich is the best. I only ever come here for lunch and it gets packed after 12:00 so come a little before to beat the crowd. Service has always been good, fast and the food is always excellent, large portions and cheap. The city water in Jackson taste terrible, lemons can't even help it and unfortunately they serve city water. read more

Such a fun place to hang out at! Not only are the food and drinks great but they always have something going on. Thursday's is DJ Trivia, Friday is live music and Saturday is Karaoke! Definitely family friendly as I bring my kiddos here to eat lunch or dinner all the time. read more

I am very disappointed in my most recent visit to Night Light. I go there occasionally for lunch, and typically the food is very good - and it was this time, as well. However, my friend and I asked our waitress to split the bill in half (we both ordered the same thing), but my credit card ended up being charged for both meals, AND my friend's was charged for hers. I pointed out the error, and the waitress came back with a receipt showing that half of the amount was credited to my card. A few weeks later, I notice the credit still hasn't been posted to my account, and then I realize that's because the credit receipt shows a credit card # that isn't mine. So, today I call to figure out how to fix the error, and the gentleman who answered the phone asked if I could hold on. Sure, no problem. I then hear a woman who I believe to be the owner ask who was on the phone. When he told her why I was waiting, she hung up on me! I've never been so livid. Although I have to say that the food is pretty awesome (turkey nachos and Philly Steak especially), if you go, make sure you pay with cash, and make sure you have extra time on your hands. The Night Light is literally a 2 minute drive from my work, but it takes my entire 60 minute lunch hour if I go there. I'll think twice before returning, and if I do, I'll make 100% sure my bill and receipt are correct. Not to mention, I'll pray for a server who is NOT the one whose voice I heard right before she hung up on me. Update: Later that same day I went into the bar and spoke to the bartender (who I spoke to on the phone). He apologized for us getting disconnected, and refunded the amount that was incorrectly charged, plus a little. He apologized for the mixup several times and definitely made it right. I still am disappointed at how it was handled, and am not over-impressed with the owner (who was sitting down at the bar talking when I stopped in today), however I do give her credit for empowering her employees to take care of things as they can. I still will be somewhat wary about going back, but wanted to give them credit for doing what they could to make it right financially. read more

Food was good but worst service ever! Took forever to take our order. Once our food arrived she asked if we wanted anything we told her what we needed and she never brought. After 5 min of waiting for catsup we got up and went and got our own. Ten minutes later she came and apologized for forgetting it and walked away completely ignored out empty beers. We watched her go outside and smoke as a kitchen employee brought us boxes for our food. Finally she came back and asked if we wanted anything and we told her the checks. It's been ten minutes still no checks to cash out so we can leave and go get something to drink somewhere else because we are dying of thirst! During Lent, can't beat Cajun shrimp and steak cut calamari from Night Lights. Service was friendly and attentive. Shocked bartenders did a shot with a patron. A little tacky. Today is 6.16.18 and this place is back up and running with some great updates while keeping its old feel!!! Don't judge a book by its cover could definitely be applied to this place. Read the reviews so we wanted to go as we are often in Jackson but never been here. We pulled up and my husband and I were hesitant, it is a GREAT place!!! This is a decent downtown option for good food at a fair price. They have a decent beer selection but not a huge one. Downtown Jackson continues to add more upscale options but this place always is busy around lunch time when I stop in so it is apparent that it is still a local favorite. Most of the food options are priced at $10 or below. The menu is just one page but most everything on it is excellent. It's not a real big place so it can get cramped but like I said from a value standpoint it is an excellent option to get a pretty good lunch or dinner and drinks at a very reasonable price. Not a huge menu, but what they do have is awesome. Their nachos are RIDICULOUS and could feed a small community. My favorite thing to get there by far is the Ruby Burger, which is a giant turkey burger. They're very conscious for people who don't like to eat red meat. There are a lot of turkey based meals.
