Had wanted to try this place for years, but never were passing through Jackson at a time they were open. Last Saturday we finally were, so in we went. It's a very inconspicuous location, squeezed in between two truck depots. The building looks--inside and out--like it could be someone's workshop. At least if someone hung cool original art on their workshop's walls and set up a pool table. When we stood in front of the bar looking at the draft menu, a couple sitting nearby offered to scooch down so we could get barstools. Friendly folks=good start. We tried samples of a black IPA and rye IPA. Both were good, but we went with the rye for a pint. Nice and hoppy with just a little sharpness, good body. Had a bit of a drive in front of us, so we got a crowler of the black to go. Interesting beer selection, with two strong Scottish ales and many IPA variants. Plus alcoholic fruit slushees if that's your thing. We're mulling a run to Jackson purposefully to sample more of their offerings. read more

Great beer choices. IPAs, Vanilla Porters, Hefeweizens and other beer choices were on tap. I had the porter and the Hefeweizen. Liked both. Also had two seltzer slushes available. They had music bingo that night. I sat at the bar and watched some football and read some. They offer snacks for $1 (peanuts, pretzels, popcorn and more). They encourage you to bring in food which I like since that lets them focus on the beer. Bar tender was ready for me and served well. read more

So, 5+ years later, in a bizarre and amusing moment of perverse serendipity, in another more attractive and hospitable establishment, I unknowingly sat down next to the bartender who in 2020 was rude to me when I had a positively unpalatable IPA at this brewery. After some "bar" conversation ( I had one beer, he had been there for a while) he mentioned where he worked. I commented that I'd had the worst beer in my life at 127, and when I described it, he determined I was the negative reviewer of Nov 5, 2020. I reminded him that when I said I couldn't possibly drink the beer, that he had not offered me something else, as a good service person would, but instead he had sneered at me and walked away. I have been a bartender and in the service industry on and off since the 1980s, and I know how you are supposed to treat customers. And, older women know when young male servers are being rude simply because you are just that. Now, wouldn't you think that someone who believed in their establishment would say, "Gee, I'm sorry you had a bad experience. We have some amazing beers now. I wish you would give 127 another chance..." but he didn't. He offered no apology to me whatsoever. Instead, he DOUBLED DOWN on his rude behavior to me, and came up with some blatant historical revisionism about warning me in advance about the bitterness of the IPA. (That NEVER happened). Mind you, I have sampled many IPAs in my time and am no novice. "YOU ordered a pint!" he said in accusation. Well, if he were such a great bartender, and he knew the IPA tasted like pine tar and castor oil, then why didn't he offer me a sample? (I have since learned that they have a different brewer now...hmmm.) I offered him an out, saying that maybe he was having a bad day that day five years ago--but he couldn't even cop to that. Instead, he glared at me, complained that his co-workers referred to him as a misogynist (he said it was a running joke, and I suggested that if it was a joke, then they clearly didn't think he was a misogynist). He then asked me directly if I thought he was a misogynist. I nearly laughed, because minutes before this conversation started he was mocking the feminine look of a guy on the television above the bar. Yeah, you MIGHT be... Anyway, this guy continued to make excuses and deride my knowledge of beer (no misogyny there, probably, eh?). Proving, of course, that five years later, he's still the same rude person. I stand by my review of Guy Fawkes Day 5 years ago--there are so many more attractive and welcoming drinking establishments in the area. read more

I went on a Friday night. small private lot, inside is a dim main room with a bar along one wall, and a patio type area out back. The staff was great, friendly and helpful. Several of the customers were rude, but the staff was working through it, and seemed to expect it--I got the impression they were regulars. The beers were all pretty good, reasonable prices, they have a can crimper in addition to growler fills. They use the TV screen menu system so everything is up to date and easy to read. Only snacks are available. There was a two man band when I was there, they did Bob Segar, rockabilly, and Let it Go from Frozen one right after the other. That made me chuckle. read more

The atmosphere is cool, the place is packed with people, and the beer is tasty, but there is little food...only snacks. We stopped here on a gloomy Saturday evening to find some pretty good beer to sample. The bartender/waitress was friendly enough, but not over the top, which was just fine for what we wanted. A nice conversation with friends and some peanuts is just what we needed. read more

Best brewery in Jackson. These guys know how to brew. None of the off flavors found in so many start-up breweries. The bartenders (usually one of the owners!) are knowledgeable and friendly. You're going here for the beer and the company of beer lovers because; There is no food, just a few bar snacks. Peanuts, chips, etc. It has zero ambiance. I really like this place. They play rock music from my high school days (1990s). The music is soft enough that you can carry on a conversation. They only serve beer, soda, and popcorn. They have a free pool table. Good, non-pretentious crowd. read more

Hands down the best brewery in Jackson. Watch the ABV if you're not used to craft beer.

The place was ok, if all you want to do is drink. I found it rather odd that they did not offer some sort of menu. Serving alcohol with no food to me is just asking for trouble. My date said the beer was good, but with me being the DD, I did not like the fact they did not offer food. read more

Best beer in the Jackson area. Definitely has a no frills atmosphere, but with beer like this, that's part of the charm. The Pothole Porter is one of the great vanilla java porters out there, and their bourbon barrel trippell was out of this world. read more
