Friendly service, met the owner and talked to him, he has over 15 years experience in coffee. Super interesting guy! Great place, casual atmosphere and bar seating, got a flat white which I enjoyed! lovely space. read more

I sometimes leave for work early specifically so I can stop in here, 'cause Nine Bar makes a really frickin' good latte. They use Gracenote beans, which definitely helps, but that's only half the battle. Their staff are nice, and there's one guy in particular who always looks so serene it's like he's found coffee nirvana. Their pastries and snacks are also good; the apple almond square is my fave. It's kinda greasy, but it's so tasty I don't even care. They're not up their own asses about their coffee, either. Like, it's one of those upscale coffee places for sure, but nobody's looking down their nose at you. read more

Definitely the best espresso bar in Davis Square. The drawback. You cannot really sit there. The chairs at the window are scares and the sun can kill you. Luckily, we found a table outside and the weather was unseasonably nice on November 1st. read more

There's no such thing as too many independent coffee shops - so despite my deep love for another around-the-corner place, I'm thrilled to welcome Nine Bar Espresso to the neighborhood. Their iced latte with almond milk is INCREDIBLE. It's like nothing you've ever had before. At $6.15 for a large, you better make it last and not gulp it all down at once, but it's worth savoring anyway, it's so good. They also have a small but delicious selection of pastries and limited seating, both inside and out, where you can watch all the hustle and bustle of Davis pass you by. Definitely worth a stop in! read more

Very small space, just outside the center of Davis square. It hones a good amount of natural light and the space feels open. Not much seating, maybe a quick sandwich/bagel/toast or a to go place. I got the cold brew, has a great flavor and is incredibly smooth. They have nitro and regular cold brew (I have regular) and both probably don't need milk but I added soy :D I'm eager to come back for a quick breakfast of avocado smash. I would have held off on eating if I knew! .. Also right down the street from Daves fresh pasta. I'd recommend grabbing and cold brew and an insane sandwich there. read more

I have loved this place since it opened, but after this Summer even more so. I had been screwed over by an airline (you're right, it was American!) and stranded in New York. I hopped an early flight on 2 hours of sleep so I could have skin cancer surgery across the street at Harvard Vanguard. I was stressed and ragged. And the fact that the barista gave me a big genuine smile when he said good morning and took my order that morning was, as my daughter likes to say, Everything. I love this place. read more

Great place for a coffee!!! Caramel iced coffee is really good. And a hazelnut coffee and a caramel mocha. Overall very good and I will be coming back. Small iced coffee was $5. Normal price for a small business owned place. read more

Nine Bar is the best place to go in Davis for coffee, and they have a nice selection of loose leaf teas too. They used to have amazing egg and cheese breakfast bagels, but they have taken them off the menu and out of my heart. The void was temporarily filled by their weirdly incredible oatmeal (seriously, I know it's just oatmeal but it was so good), but they seem to have recently changed their recipe and it isn't as good as it used to be. Nine Bar, if you are reading this, please bring these things back. Please? Love you, bye. read more

This was the best espresso I have had in the Boston area yet, no exaggeration!! I couldn't not write a review after my other experiences with espresso around here. This place is the Real Deal and I'll definitely be back to try other drinks as well! read more

I appreciate how this coffee bar is quick, cheap, and very delicious. At time, in a bind, I will jump over to Nine Bar grab a cortado then jump on the T off to my day. Nine Bar is perfectly located in Davis Square for a quick cup, then off to your day! read more

I can't tell you how much I love this place (and the love grows deeper everyday). The espresso is the best in Davis square and they've stepped up their food menu. They now have Ben, one of the chefs from Spoke, holding down the food. Breakfast sandwiches, oatmeal, bagels, smoked salmon spreads?!!? And delicious espresso?? Come through folks. read more

Definitely try the seven grain toast and ricotta. So good!

I've been to Nine Bar a number of times, and they do have very good coffee. But I won't ever be going back because of two factors: horrible customer service and a noxious environment. I was there late in the afternoon 11/9/17 and they started using some strong detergent to clean the coffee machines. There were still customers in the shop, but I guess they didn't want to stay after to do the housekeeping so they started cleanup 90 minutes early. The detergent fumes were horrible. I waited for them to go away but they just got worse instead. Not just to the point that it made my order taste and smell like detergent, but to the point that they made my sinuses, lungs and throat burn. I have severe athsma. I don't know what the hell I was breathing. But it's a very small cafe so the fumes were inescapable. Out of sheer concern for my health I left, ditching my half-finished coffee and pastry. I complained to the barista, who just said "sorry," and told me that they use it every day and she didn't really notice it, which is great for her but doesn't change or make up for my experience in the slightest. That seemed to be all she had to say about it. I left the cafe but a few minutes later my lungs/throat/sinuses still were burning, so I went back and complained to the manager, getting exactly the same responses. This was their response to a longtime regular customer. By the time I had told him what was on my mind my eyes were watering as well. Their entire reaction was a shrug and a blank stare. They seemed to think that a) I was imagining the whole thing and b) it wasn't any big deal and c) "they use that detergent all the time: lots of places do" -- as if that made things better instead of worse or as if that fixed my respiratory distress. Just a bland, bored, "I'm sorry that was your experience," and nothing else, even when I told them I had athsma. Nothing, no concern or even a refund of the coffee I didn't get to finish. I suggested they could at least wait to use the stuff till customers left, but he just said he didn't think it was that strong, they used it all the time, and ended with the flattest, most insincere "I'll take it into consideration," ever, which was WEAK as far as having any concern for a customer. Guess it's more important to them to get out of there early. My lungs and throat are still burning as I am writing this, 20 min after leaving, and my eyes are starting to water as well as burn. I don't know what they use to clean their cafe, but they clearly have no intention of stopping use or even waiting until the customers have gone. If employees want to risk their health that's up to them. But I think they also risked my health and that's far from OK. I think OSHA and the health department would agree. Bottom line: for something that serious affecting their customers, apparently nobody there cares. I won't be coming back and I'll tell the friends I used to bring here to stay away. Super, super disappointed that folks who make such good coffee are so awful to their customers. read more

A little pricey, but good coffee and great espresso drinks. Decent pastries. There are only about 5 seats at a window bar, and the place is tiny, so I wouldn't say it's a place to work or bring your computer. But it'd probably be good to read a book for half an hour! read more

It serves one of the best lattes and Avocado sandwich that I have ever had!

This place has pretty good coffee and service but I have a slight beef with them that I won't mention.

such a pretty little space. love the look and feel with all the natural light. there is some seating, but i think it's more of a grab-n-go than a hang out and work all day little shop. but of course you do have the option to enjoy your coffee there. the employees were really nice too. i had an americano made with (local!) gracenote beans. delicious and really smooth -- maybe one of the best i've had in a while. they have a small menu of bagels, pastries, treats, and sandwiches. all the treats looked good! read more

Waited 20 minutes and no bagel. Nobody ever asked me what I was waiting for. Totally bypassed my order. Lame apology. Sorry hipsters, I'm not coming back. Was a customer 3 times a week. read more

Cute little cafe in Davis. Good coffee. It's a no frills type place. I don't think it's somewhere you would park and do work all day because there is limited seating but it's laid back with a ton of different drink options and snacks. It's nice to have another coffee option in Davis. read more

I have been a loyal Nine Bar customer for over a year and mostly it's been good. But, my last experience was really disappointing. They were super busy, which I understand the stresses of that, but if you're not on your game when you're busy, are you ever? The server was super rude and couldn't be bothered. In such a small place you've got to be nice to keep them coming back read more

If you love coffee, this is the place to go...it's small if you want to sit, but if you have enough espresso you won't want to sit long anyway... read more

Nice selection of coffee from semi-local roasters. Staff were very friendly! Got a Cortado/ Gibraltar, whatever you want to call it. Espresso was dialed in perfectly, milk texture and temperature were on point. It was delicious! Not much more you can ask for. Thanks guys! read more

I'm a bit hesitant to leave a positive review for this sexy little new coffee shop in Davis Square, since I'm worried it'll get overcrowded. But, altruist that I am, I will let you in on the secret: This place is great! Tasty coffee, fun atmosphere, friendly baristas. The only possible downside is that it's quite small. Go check it out for yourself. read more

Some people want to hang out at a café where they can sit for hours with a large bubble of personal space - which is a legit priority, but that's not Nine Bar. However, if you want the best espresso drink offered within Davis Square, then bypass every other spot, and bring your butt to Nine Bar. I've fallen into a blissful stupor at my breve lattes. I bow to the baristas - thanks! Make better coffee and Nine Bar your resolution, and you will have a fantastic 2017!!! read more

Nine bar is a great addition to Davis Square. They stock Danish Pastry House pastries (which are always out of this world), and they have a great range of teas. I'm not a huge fan of the espresso they use, but that has everything to do with my tastes and nothing to do with their preparation. The drip coffee is excellent, and they have a great selection of hot teas and iced tea in about three flavors. The staff is always friendly, even during morning rushes. There's not a ton of seating, but it's really cozy. read more

Nine Bar has finally added the one thing that they were missing: several more substantial (i.e. non-pastry) breakfast options. Their egg sandwich is top-notch, with a creative and tasty set of toppings and good size for money. And of course their cappuccino continues to rein supreme in the Boston area. read more

This is my favorite coffee place to go in Davis Square. Close to the Red Line stop with great pastries and good coffee.

These guys are very passionate about their coffee and the way it's made. Delicious, charming coffee bar. The shop is very new, it is a sister store to Simon's which has been a mainstay in the area for over 10 years. read more

My partner lives near Davis, and I stop here whenever I can before getting on the train. Seriously good baristas. They brew and pull Gracenote, and I personally like the way they do the (Alpha) espresso better than the Gracenote shop downtown: it's a medium- to full-bodied shot, something a little closer to a ristretto, flecking and all. Smooth, tasted of almonds. Just like similar coffee shops, they give it to you with some sparkling water and a spoon. No complaints. Can't comment on the food. read more

This is my first visit here and it is the best iced coffee I've ever had. I'm still drinking it but felt the need to stop and review how awesome it is. Just took another sip, yum. Staff is super friendly too. Fantastic location across from T stop. Will be back for more! read more

Such a great place! I love the green tea chai latte I get here and the barista is so super kind! Will definitely make this part of my weekly routine! read more

Nine Bar Espresso - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Somerville, Massachusetts

Great espresso!! My new fave in Davis Square. Delicious velvety froth the way it should be and the espresso is much bolder than other places I have tried nearby. I just heard they do have a rewards program, and since I go here often enough, I will be looking into that at my next visit. read more

Good espresso, pretty latte art, nice vibe/ambiance, friendly staff. Very small space so not great for working or meeting up with friends. Espresso is also pricey but worth it for a guilty pleasure splurge! read more

This is a tiny place but it serves by far the best espresso that I have tried in the Boston area (and I have tried a lot!). They usually serve the Gracenote Alpha which is very aromatic. read more

Small, great coffee shop in Davis Square. Among the best for macchiato in the area, and a nice selection of good pastries to go with it. Conveniently located across from the Harvard Vanguard medical bldg. read more

Fantastic Soy Latte, and a solidly delicious chocolate chip scone! This place is small and fairly minimalist in terms of the menu, but there is something to be said for doing a few things REALLY well. The focus is on the coffee, and a limited selection of freshly baked goods. There are only a few seats for those who want to sit (good luck competing with the people that camp out with their laptops!), but a great place to pick up something to go, or to hang out at the little standing bar/counter as you first walk in. read more

Good coffee and baked goods. The staff are knowledgeable, but friendly rather than pretentious. This is my favorite new coffee shop.
