The bagel sandwiches and pastries were good. They had good flavor although the bagels were slightly tough. The coffees and teas all tasted very good with great flavors and options. The online ordering system lagged slightly and does not work properly on safari, but it works ok on google chrome. This is a nice, cute, little cafe for those looking to do a little work, or to just grab and go on with your day. I have to admit that I have a very special fondness for this place. It's where I had my first date with my spouse, 33 years ago, and they're still going strong. They make a terrific oat milk latte, the bagels are wonderful, and I love their corn muffins. Not sure about other things, as I usually stick by my favorites. 1369 is a smaller, neighborhood-style coffee shop and cafe in Inman Square, with a few other locations around the Boston and Cambridge area. It's the kind of spot that feels busy and lived-in. The service was both fast and friendly. Even though it was clearly a busy time, the staff were efficient and we got our order quite quickly without any wait. We tried a couple of things. The breads and pastries were good, pretty standard, tasty cafe fare that hit the spot. The matcha latte, however, was a real miss for us. We ordered it with oat milk and added maple syrup, but the combination just didn't work. It ended up being overly sweet and tasted watered down almost immediately, with hardly any actual matcha flavor coming through. It was pretty unappealing. We've definitely heard good things about their coffee and other drinks from regulars, so we'd be willing to go back and try something else. But based on this visit, we'd steer clear of the matcha and stick to their more standard coffee shop offerings next time. read more

Always great espresso. New avocado toast is superb, if a little thick on the toast. Wish I could add protein on the Square app to order ahead, but failing that the staff were super friendly and I could order it with them. Vibe feels much calmer this morning, a nice chill coffee shop experience. If we can get to the place that one can order an avocado toast or a sandwich, dairy free and adding turkey or salmon as protein, we will be at five stars for sure! read more

Stopped by for brunch on a friend's recommendation. It's located in a convenient area in Inman Square, and at 11am on a Sunday, a line was forming out the door. Despite this, we were able to order pretty quickly and got our drinks and food within 5 or so minutes after. The koji breakfast sandwich on sourdough was absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend it if you're a fan of eggplant and/or sweet umami flavors. I did notice the portion of scrambled egg on my sandwich was less than my friend's bagel portion, so keep that in mind if you like a higher egg to sauce ratio. The spicy breakfast sandwich (bacon, egg, and cheese with spicy aioli on a bagel) was underwhelming compared to other places that serve something similar. The egg portion was large, but the bagel was hard, the bacon was burnt, and it could have used more sauce. Overall, this is a decent cafe for getting breakfast/brunch or grabbing a coffee and doing some work (as half the people there were doing). It was nice that they have the option to customize breakfast sandwiches by bagel, sourdough, croissant, or gluten-free bagel. However, the food was hit-or-miss and the furniture was a bit dated (worn out wooden chairs and tables). The place does counter ordering and self-seating, but I wish they at least provided self-serve sanitizing wipes for customers to use on tables between uses. read more

Quaint, cozy, and homey coffee shop with an old charm that is hard to find nowadays. Staff are always friendly, and remember you even if you're just a semi regular. Their punch card system for free or discounted items is refreshing in the day and age of digital app rewards systems. They are a great spot for anyone who needs to work during the week. On weekends they do not offer wifi which I am SO GRATEFUL FOR. The laptop people used to take up every table on the weekend and it was frustrating. Now that they solved this problem it's been perfect! The pastries are fantastic, go early if you want your pick of them all, they sell out fast! Good bagel on its own or in a breakfast sandwich and the eggs are cooked very nicely. The coffee is great! Love their homemade syrups and I always end up missing their seasonal ones when they change. One of the coziest cafes I've ever been to! Even after just visiting once, I can totally see why this spot is such a staple in Inman Square and why lines are usually out of the door, especially on the weekends. Even when it's crowded, it isn't particularly noisy inside - there seems to be an unspoken policy to keep voices at a moderate volume for people to get work done, read the newspaper, etc etc. And while seating is limited, there's a public square with plenty of benches and tables just a few blocks away where you can chat away and enjoy your drinks and pastries, especially when the weather is nice! The staff are all so friendly and upbeat and their attitudes go a long way to helping you start your morning on a positive note. Service was a little slow when I went in around 10:30am on a weekday, but understandable and pretty impressive that there still seemed to be a bit of a morning rush at that time! I got the cardamom specialty latte - which I greatly enjoyed! I believe it may have been a seasonal item though - I'm excited to go back and try more of their drinks! read more

I passed this place for years and finally had the chance to stop by. It's a quaint coffee house making great coffee. I got their pumpkin spice latte, and I was very pleased to see it wasn't overly sweet and actually warmed me up. Service was extremely friendly but it did take awhile for my drink to come out. I met up at 1369 with one of my coworkers on a Friday afternoon (note: they did close at 3pm, so be sure to check their hours in advance). The ship is located in a great spot, right in Inman Square. They have decent seating and play good, vibey music. Looks like a nice place to work or study for the day. Their menu was pretty basic, a bunch of coffees and teas, with a few food options. I was in the mood for something savory, but didn't have a huge appetite. None of the food options were really speaking to me. If you're looking for a café with solid food options, I'd go with Tatte instead. In terms of drinks, the iced chai was great. It had a really rich flavor and was refreshing on a warm day. I'm not a huge coffee fan, but the coffee options seemed pretty decent. read more

Service was so weird here. Seemed like a very cool and chill spot. Students, allies, artists...but the service was just so bizarre. No warm greeting or "hi, how are you" just silence. We ordered, 2 hot dirty chais (our normal vacation "treat yo self" beverages). And when I say it was not good, I truly mean it. Tasted like they used the chai tea bag method and added steamed milk to create the latte effect. Normally this would be fine and much preferable to a chai concentrate...but this was just not good. Quality of tea used, unairrated milk, dead espresso shots...I'm not sure which stood out more. The cafe was super full when we got here mid to late morning. This shop inspired my first ever review on yelp. Wowza that was the worst and most expensive breakfast sandwich I've ever had (a simple bacon, egg, and cheese on a bagel). The egg was both undercooked and burnt (slimy white and overcooked yolk), multiple pieces of eggshells, and a dryyyy bagel. Which is weird bc I went early on Saturday and things should still be relatively fresh and alright. I recently moved out of Somerville and the thing I miss the most, without question, is 1369. The local, quaint but city, vibes are unbeatable. "The spicy", on a croissant, is the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had. Period. I dream of their maple lattes in the fall. The staff is kind, welcoming, and overall cool. Today I got the rocket like last time and it tasted a bit sweet and like it is mixing flavors with another sandwich and the egg was undercooked. A strange sandwich. The service was not super friendly either. I got the Vietnamese coffee and it was not authentic at all. It's just iced coffee with condensed milk. It was probably the worst one I've ever had. It reminds me of a cafe I used to like in New Haven- Jojo's. It's laid back and unpretentious, but has high quality goods (note the la marzoco and local treats- like Q's nuts). Today I had the iced spiced americano. You have to try it- it's delicious! Instead of water, they use their spiced turmeric tea. Spicy and just a tad sweet. Went back and the atmosphere was a bit off. Weird light flicker that was distracting for working, and the americano I had was kind of off-balance. Don't know if it was how it was pulled or the beans. Would give them another shot though, because it was conducive for working in the past, and the seasonal drinks sound creative (a bunch of mulled cider tea drinks on special now). read more

The food and the coffee were great - however we were in a little bit of a rush and it took 30 minutes to get our toasted bagels. I understand that places can get busy but they were able to shuffle through a line basically out the door and we were still left waiting. The hours for this place are super short. I know that cafes tend to close before 5pm but 2pm??? that's midday and I would say 3pm or beyond is when many ppl need a pick-me-up coffee when they feel the fatigue from their workday. Anyhow, I got an iced latte and a plain croissant - $10 total . wow The croissant was really chewy- not sure how to describe it but I had to really chew through it . But overall decent. Latte- I think it was nice but I thought it would come in a plastic cup. Maybe they are really going for sustainability here- I wanted to leave with my latte back to work but they gave it to me in a glass cup that obviously wasnt something I could carry out- so I had to finish it all before exiting the cafe. Just thought overall, quite overpriced. $10 for a latte and pastry is something you might expect in NYC - not Cambridge. read more

My favorite things about it are: - the staff are always really kind and service is prompt - the drinks are pretty good and the prices aren't insane compared to other shops in the area - the pastries have never disappointed Things that I wish were better: - the breakfast sandwich: it is wayyyy too dry and plain... at that point, I'd rather walk to Market Basket to buy the ingredients and make it myself. - for some reason, 1369 has messed up my sandwich order at least 3 times now? Before covid, I was a regular at both 1369 locations. The coffee was good - but the scones were FRIGGIN' AWESOME. In the past couple of weeks, I returned to both - and their scones are even better. How is that even possible??!!! Their sweet scones may be the best in the world - I'll have to find out. So why only 4 stars... the tables are so close together that it's nearly impossible to have a private conversation. People have butted into my conversations on a few occasions - and I'm definitely not a loud talker. (And no, I'm not very nice to people who do that.) read more

Roasted: found this coffee shop and an article said it was one of the best in Boston. I would completely disagree. First off - no one said hello - they just stood at the register waiting for me to order. They don't offer any sugar free options which is ok but all syrups are house made. We told them we would be staying here but we got our coffees in paper cups while others folks sitting here had for here cups. The drinks took nearly 10 minutes to make so I was expecting amazing drinks. Drinks were handed to me with no thank you. My mocha is undrinkable. It is not good at all. I'll be wasting over $10 because neither coffee is enjoyable. They are luke warm at most and the espresso is just awful. No latte art at all. It's a nice space though with good seating and they have a nice selection of pastries and bagels which do look good. Maybe come here for the food but I don't recommend the coffee. Unroasted: this coffee shop is in a great location,right on Cambridge road blocks from the famous Harvard university. Plenty of seating inside with a couple of benches out front. There was a lil wait which is always good to see. The staff member ringing up didn't say hello just asked what they could get us. No sf options available so we ordered our usual. I noticed one person had a mug so as we paid I mentioned we were having it for here. Hoping that would trigger him to either ask or use mugs. They did said it would be a 5 min wait. Waited the whole 5 min sitting at one of the tables, when we heard our name called. Unfortunately they were in to go cups. Viewing the latte they looked awful. Sorry to say the taste was just as bad. A quick in & out (snicker to yourself, you pre-teen) yielded the best kind of smog, an unfortunate scone, and brilliant natural light with a full view of Cambridge Street passers-by. On the up, the London Fog is a beautifully balanced hot tea beverage with Earl Grey, steamed milk and a touch of vanilla. I've sipped it elsewhere, but 1369 gets the steep, the steam and the sweetness spot on. Nice work, team. The blackberry ginger scone, howe'er, was brutally dry with a metallic aftertaste that screamed too much baking soda, or a lack of acid. Maybe the berries could have brought a bit more acid to the table, only there were few and far between. This pastry is a personal favorite (see my SconeOff of 2011 reviews), and I'm afraid this was a miss. Large beverages will run ~$5, baked goods are a couple clams, and I'm guessing the wifi is free and infinite based on the perchers who sprawled single seats in to four-top workstations. Bad form, patrons - be considerate with the limited, cozy space. Super friendly service bumps the 3 to a 3.5 overall. Definitely worth a grab and go! read more

Their warm drinks are just amazing, I am a big fan of their chai latte and hot chocolate, I have also tried their cafe au pair and while it was not bad it was not great either. Their sandwiches are not bad and good for a quick take away breakfast. Funnily enough I am not a big fan of their iced drinks (which is what I'd actually go for in most places), so far I have had their iced chai and iced matcha but to me the ice kind of waters down the beverage. Aside from this it is a good place to sit down and talk, read a book or just get some work done. While at times it can get a bit crowded usually the clientele moves around fast so it's just a matter of getting there at the right time if you plan to have your order at the cafe. read more

1369 used to be my go to coffee shop when I lived in the area, and I always had great drinks and pastries. I've noticed over the years that things started seeming like the same level of care wasn't being taken - cream cheese was sour on the bagel, drink orders were often incorrect, nothing big but definitely noticeable. Then yesterday, I was supposed to receive a hot chai and a Vietnamese coffee and the drinks were abysmal. The chai was tasteless and watery and the coffee - in addition to definitively not tasting anything like Vietnamese coffee - was sour and undrinkable. It's sad to say but I won't be back, despite having enjoyed this place for years. Small mistakes or issues are normal, but when you are a coffee shop, serving drinkable coffee should be a given. read more

I came in thinking "non chain coffee place" - this is going to be good. The problem was that it was just awful espresso. I purchased a decaf iced latte and my co-worker had a double espresso. It was one of the crappiest latte's I've had. Very acidic and extremely watered down/not rich. I expected much better. Ended up throwing it out and as we walked down saw a place called Petsi pies - got a decaf latte there because I was so angry about the first and that one was fantastic.
