I've been getting my pedicures done here for about 7 years, and they don't disappoint. I haven't done a review in a while, so just wanted to chime in with an update. I didn't take a picture of my pedicure when I got it done over a month ago - June 6, to be exact. I just took this pic today (July 12) to show what a good job the tech did. I've worn sandals every day and have been at parks and pools at least three times a week since the pedicure. If I could afford to get my feet done more often, I would, but since I can't, I really appreciate that their work lasts. Since I found Nina's, I've only gone to three other places due to schedule conflicts, and none of them compare. The staff here do good work and are really nice. On this particular occasion, I had acrylic nails that I wanted removed, and the tech went above and beyond to make sure she could save my natural nails and not hurt my hands. She kept asking me if I was ok and apologized for the process taking so long. She did an excellent job! I asked her for her name but I can't remember it now. If you want good service, NEVER come with a time limit. Not everyone works well under pressure, and for me, getting a pedicure is my me time timeout session - just close my eyes and enjoy the process. The longer they take, the better for me. My husband and I moved to Lincolnwood 6 months ago, from the Near North Side in Chicago, where manicures and pedicures were expensive, and not always good! Now, we both love going to Nina's! Moon and Lena are the technicians we have both used, and they're wonderful! My manicures last almost 3 weeks, and my pedicures are still looking fresh after a month! My husband has commented that his manicures and pedicures are longer lasting than any others he's had in many years. Place was dirty and the staff inappropriate. Cut my pinky toe nail So close it bled and maybe now infected. Also, when I was trying to pay via Zelle, the tech comes up to me and leans on me to tell me the phone number where to send it, as if she couldn't just tell me. I needed to get my nails done and I had a couple hours to kill so why not? The lady was pleasant. Did as I asked. Fine. When finished she ran my card. Just the total amount. When I went to add my tip, she stated it was too late. Okay fine. Please, run my card again for the tip amount. She didn't want to. She wanted cash and noticed I had cash while I was getting my card out. First of all... none of your business what is or is not in my wallet and second of all... just run my card. But fine. Hit or miss nail salon. Thank goodness they painted and cleaned up the shop this past summer because the previous year (2021) it was filthy. When you need nails did and don't want to fit into a busier shops schedule. Word-of-mouth on the street says, it's cheap and it'll do in a pinch. read more

AVOID THIS NAIL SALON!! theres many things that went wrong, i got an infection the first day the nails weren't shaped right and painted you could see the on my index finger a crack about to fall off. Most of my nails feel loose and most importantly my infection. While i was getting them done my finger started to bleed and i thought it was nothing only because the lady said nothing but knew it wasnt good. same problem with my sister. i called them and they said theres no refund policy. Friendly service, clean/safe environment even with covid guidelines, and my overall mani/pedi is decent. However, the service was unbearably slow and required constant fixing of the French mani/pedi, none of which were a result of any complaints from my end; I think it was specifically my manicurist, who was slower, somewhat clumsy, and kept accidentally messing it up. It took 2.5 hours for a service that normally takes 1.5, so if you're in a rush, it's not worth it. read more

I've been to this shop on several occasions, and the service is getting worse and worse. The owner, Nina can be a little rude and her work is sloppy and shabby. She doesn't even care when she does your nails. She does a rush job to get you out of the door, she has cut me before, and acted like she didn't. There are a couple technicians that does do a bit better (Lillie) or Nina's daughter in which, the 2 stars are for them. The pedicures are cheap but, I think I'll find a salon that has better service, more patience, and more quality work. read more

I have been going many years as well as my mother in law who is a regular customer and lives in the area. We usually go to Lilly. I was harassed by another customer who threatened me for my race making slurs and that she would have people come to the shop to kill me she also got out of her seat when I was sitting calm asking the owner to help me. The owner Nina did not do anything and sat back to the point I needed to call the cops because I felt in danger. Nina also did my nails and cut me on 3 of my fingers not even apologizing. No frills kind of place that I probably never would've stepped foot in but like everything else in my life I found myself needing my nails done last minute and as soon as possible. I stopped by on a rainy Saturday about 30 minutes before closing and asked for a pedi and no chip manicure. I had already gone to a few other places that turned me away for coming too late but Nina's Nails gladly welcomed me in. It was raining pretty hard and the place was empty. It was a bit weird being the only person in a nail salon but I figured the rain kept a lot of people away. There's not many pedicure stations so I can imagine this place gets filled pretty quickly. They use these blue hand towels at every station that look like they've been washed 100 times. They also reuse tools and sanitize them after each use which I'm not a fan of. I prefer places that open up a new pack with each customer. Last thing I noticed was that many of their regular polishes have begun to separate and should either be saved or tossed out. The pedicure it self was good. I felt they did a great job with cuticle and callous removal & the hot stones were a nice touch. I wasn't very satisfied with the polish though. I'm not sure if the one I choose needed to be thinned out or if the nail tech put too many coats on but it just looked thick and uneven. I was very happy with the no chip mani. They had a lot of color options I haven't seen before and the quality of the polish I choose was excellent. A big reason why I went so last minute was because one of my gel fills had cracked horizontally and was causing me a lot of pain. I wanted to remove the gel fills altogether but Lily suggested I let them grow out so I could preserve my natural nail and I decided to follow her suggestion. By the time she started working on me the store was about 10 minutes from closing. She was able to work quickly but still do a good job and listen to my needs. She skipped filling in my nails and filed them down so once the polish was placed it was hard to see a where my nail ended and the gel overlay began. I also had a fresh, small cut on one finger and she worked around it without further injuring the area. Really the three stars are entirely for her and I would definitely recommend her. Unfortunately, I work with my hands a lot and my nail did end up breaking in half about a week later but all my other nails still look good. I don't think I'd go back for a pedicure but I'd def see Lily again. read more

I initially found Nina's nails on yelp and was happy to see great reviews. It looked clean and welcoming. When I called to make an appointment they were very accommodating. When I made it to my appointment that I had for a gel overlay- they kept asking if I wanted a pedicure. Once was fine... But to ask 3 times, really?! No is no! Then when it came to the actually service- my technician was rushing, (don't make 7:30pm appointments for clients of you want to leave at 8pm) and not really listening to what I wanted. But I kept calm telling her that I wanted a gel over lay- no artificial nail tip...which she kept insisting that I get. Because it wouldn't "work" without the nail tip. What she doesn't know is I'm a nail tech as well. I know that it works. Finally when the pushing stopped she finished my full set. The finished product was not acceptable. I asked for almond shaped nails- I got round. I asked for natural and thin, I received uneven and thick. And furthermore my nails were not fully covered with the over lay on the sides, making it look like I went to Walgreens a purchased press on nails. 2 days later I went back and explained that I was unhappy with the finished product. The same technician offered to fix them- which I appreciated. What I didn't appreciate was that she was talking about me the whole time and telling me that I never Initially asked for what she was redoing. Long story short my nails still look terrible. My good friend invited me to come here as she "used to" get her nails done here. Not only did they mess up my full set nails but messed up her no chip manicure as well. This place is a complete disappointment. I would never return. The tech that did my nails KNEW she did a horrible job so did the owner herself. They were so quick to rush me out and tell me "come back another day and I fix for you" what in the world makes you think I'm going to come back AND TRUST YOU after you guys destroyed my nails. I found Nina salon through a friend referral, so happy I went because she was absolutely amazing! I've had about 5 visits thus far and it has been consistently perfect. The salon is clean and beautiful. The pedicure chairs are new and powerful with the massage feature. The staff is friendly and her color choices are up to date and fresh. My no chip lasts through weeks of house work ans daily life which is super convenient. Nina is wonderful and I'm so happy with the service. They reuse the stones to scrub your foot. Other than that gross and unsanitary fact they are clean-ish. Decent manicure and pedicure. They have great prices but you get what you pay for in service. They are many times late for appointments. I got a manicure yesterday as a walk in. Nail technician was 35 minutes late to her pedicure appointment and rushed my gel top coat. Got a good amount on my cuticles. Again, you get what you pay for. Overall not bad. Just skip the pumice stone. Covid: masked employees and plexiglass for manicure stations. Not for pedicures. Such a disappointment. I've been there 3 times and will not be back. I wanted to give them a chance but each time it only got worse. My last appointment was for a no-chip french manicure and it started chipping within 3 days. I've been getting my nails done at a different salon the exact same way for the last 10+ years and have NEVER had my nails chip. In addition to the polish chipping, they needed to put a tip on one nail because I broke it so far down, it's turned upward, you can see my other nail underneath and is totally noticeable. I went to nina's salon as a walk in last week since the salon i usually go to were closed and i had to get my nails done for a party. I was greeted and told to look for my polish color. The lady who did my nails first asked me if this was my first time getting acrylics, which i replied back by sayin NO. I asked for coffin shape even showed her a picture. They were filed uneven and crooked. I asked if i can just file my nails by my own being a cosmologist myself.. I even had bumps in them where the acrylic hadn't been filed down all the way. As a result she left color all over my cuticles and my nails completely looked fake !! Took my girlfriend to get her nails done here for her birthday, took about 2 and a half hours, and by the time we were done the nails were all unevenly shaped. The nails on her right hand were longer and Within a week they started to come off at the cuticles. It's been 2 weeks now and they came completely off and damaged my girlfriends nails.The 3 star reviews and above are not majority nails, and are largely older aged cliental who could clearly care less. I love Nina's nails and I love the experience but today was absolutely horrible! I asked to have my pedicure redone but it still came out the same way..looked like I did it. This specific Essie color requires no top coat, and she used so much of it that it started to bubble. She also didn't fix up my cuticles correctly and after a second time with a different color, it was still the same. I went in for a pedicure. The technician was really nice. There was a stone massage and a hot towel. The pedicure lasted for a few weeks. Here is my issue: When I originally went, there was a 15% off your service coupon on Yelp. I went up to pay and showed her the coupon my phone. The lady just laughed and said "yeah, that is old. I need to take that off." It shouldn't matter that it is old, you should value what is advertised on your page. It didn't help the credibility of this salon when a teenage girl came giggling up to me, as I was getting off of the massage chair, yanking my phone and purse, saying that she can carry that for me. Since I did not get a manicure, I informed her that it was alright. She continued to laugh at my face and didn't return my items until I took them from her! It was childish and absolutely ridiculous. This was my first time going to this salon because I needed a mani pedi desperately. It happened to be 4th of July and to my surprise this was the only place which was open. The place is old and it's not in the very best condition. I walked in and told the owner that I was there for my appointment. She called someone to take me, my color options were very limited. I wasn't guided to my Hair and after standing for 5/6 mins I finally asked the woman where I should sit. She did an okay job cleaning my feet but when it came time to put the polish on, she really thought she could freestyle the color on my toes. My 6 year old could have done a better job. The color was everywhere on my toes. I showed them to her and she said she will fix it after my manicure. For manicure part I told her to just file my nails and clean up my cuticles. I was not going to take my chance and have her paint my fingers now. After she was done with my manicure, mind you no hand massage included, no lotion was applied. I took a closer look at my toes which seemed they had gotten bubble in them because of having too many coats applied. I showed her how bumpy and bad my toes looked because of the polish, on which she said our polishes are old, that's why it happens. What??????? I told her to remove all color. She didn't apply any top coat, or any type of nail strengthener. I paid for my service which was $37, and walked out. This was definitely a waste of time and waste of my money.
