I am absolutely in love with this place. It reminds me so much of the times I use to go with my older sister (back in the day) to get our nails done. This place is so quiet and relaxing (just some basic music) with no obligation to chit chat. Today I got a pedi and replaced my no chip mani. The pedi was exactly what I remember as a teen going with my older sister. I personally love the massage chair. The woman who do did my feet really took the time to care for my toes and feet which I appreciated. If you are expecting a crazy leg massage you won't get that here BUT your feet will feel AMAZING. As far and my mani, they actually took off my old polish the correct way (soaking and not by machine filing like many quick in and out salons do). Started going here initially as a teenager and have since returned over subsequent years (most of which included moves across the country). To my shock, I realized only today that I've yet to complete a proper review of this business. In any case, I have always appreciated how quick yet detailed the services have been. Staff are always welcoming. This place is also one where my no-chip seems to last so much longer than other places I have tried. I am usually a middle of the day walk-in as appointments can be a challenge for my travel schedule and I want to ensure there's plenty of time for my commute there along with the actual service time. Everyone's time is valuable- including the time of each of the techs who work here!! Lastly, an extra bonus for me, is its close proximity to the Starbucks. Helpful in case there's a wait for a tech or if you just want to grab a post-manicure treat. read more

Mani/Pedi, manicure I've been going to spa nail city for about 10 years. I've always been very pleased with the service. I can only speak for regular manicures and pedicures. I don't do gel or dip. I find spa nail to be reasonably priced and clean. Eunice and Chris are very nice people. I don't have a preferred nail tech and have never been disappointed with any of the techs. Best to call for appointment (they do accept walk-ins). More often than not they can take me right away when I call. But occasionally I'll have to wait a bit. Highly recommend. read more

I just got yelled at by the owner after he changed his mind on pricing for a simple nail cut and file which takes them about 5-7 mins. The man would not even let me finish my sentence. I felt UNSAFE continuing and left after 2 mins. They were so rude! I came from 15 minutes away and called ahead to make sure they had time for me. I called again 10 minutes into my drive to tell them I was stuck in traffic and that I would be there asap. When I arrived, they told me to pay upfront and insisted that I tip in cash. I gave them my credit card and told them that I didn't have any cash. All of a sudden, the manager said, "We don't have time for you", and they refused to serve me. I was incredulous. "I called ahead to tell you that I was on my way and stuck in traffic. You told me on the phone to come. NOW you suddenly don't have time?!" He rudely accused me of not knowing how to read, pointing to the sign that says tip in cash only. He accused me of being inconsiderate for coming so late. What was I supposed to do, magically bypass the traffic?! Stop at an ATM when I was already running late??! So rude. I informed him that I will never again take my business there. read more

My friend and I got a regular pedicure here. Clean job, nice people, however our feet were not moisturized at all post pedicure. By the time we got home our feet were dry. We live less than 10 minutes away. So that was a little disappointing. The price in our opinion was also unreasonable. We paid $35 per pedicure pre-tip. Definitely won't be coming back, because of price and no moisturizer post pedicure. But if you are in a pinch this place will do. read more

Stay away from this place! If I could give them ZERO stars I would. I went here for a no chip manicure on Friday - I had a wedding all weekend so wanted my nails to look nice. My experience was a bit awkward in the first place because a few of the technicians were clearly arguing with the male owner, although they weren't speaking English so I didn't know what the argument was over. The lady who did my nails seemed to do a good job and was super nice, so overall I was ok with the experience. However, the next day two of my nails already started chipping. I get manicures every 3-4 weeks and have never had a no chip manicure start chipping that fast. But I was busy all weekend with the wedding so I had no time to go back to get them fixed. Fast forward to this evening - I was on my way home from work and saw that they close at 7:30 so I called around 6:45 to see if I could come in just to get my two nails fixed quickly. I was willing to give them another chance and would have called it a day if they just fixed my chipped nails. I did not expect the response I got. Instead of apologizing and accommodating my request the woman said, "if you can get here by 7 we can fix it. Otherwise sorry we don't take customers after 7." I explained that their yelp page says they close at 7:30 and I understand not taking customers after 7 that ask for a full manicure - but fixing two nails will take 10 minutes and I could get there by 7:15. She refused. I heard the male owner reiterating in a rude way in the background that either I show up at 7 or they can't help me so I asked to speak to him. He was just as rude as she was, no apology for the issue and refused to budge. I told him I'd be writing a bad review and telling all my neighborhood friends not to go there because they don't know how to treat their customers. He said "ok fine" and that was it. For the number of nail places in the vicinity, there is absolutely no excuse for treating customers like this. I will gladly go to Deluxe Nails right down the street, who were wonderful, clean, professional and the no chip manicure I got there lasted three weeks!!!! Omg! My husband bought me a gift certificate in 2018 and I could not find it until now May 2021!!! I just used it with no problem for the first time here. The place is clean and friendly. Someone did my pedi but when it comes to putting on polish Yumi took over and she finished off with my no chip nails too. They are friendly. Don't make small talks which is great - the way I prefer. I came here last minute before going to a funeral in Florida. I walked in, the man that I will assume is the owner greeted me very nicely and asked me to choose a color after I said I wanted a mani/pedi. I sat down and put my feet in lukewarm water. The technician never asked me how the water was, she actually never even said a word to me the entire time until the polish change. She filed my nails, roughly buffed my nail plate & then put my feet in the water. After that, she brought my foot up and started scrubbing my feet. Where was the cuticle cutting? Even so, I was like maybe I don't have any cuticles to cut or something, whatever. She then spread (not scrubbed, spread) some exfoliating salt on a quarter of my leg, then put some lotion on. I timed the leg massage and it was literally 45 seconds. She then brought my foot up and THEN started cutting the cuticles... which hurt a lot actually because she wasn't cutting she was just pulling them. Another thing I saw was that she didn't clean the utensils properly and just stuck it back into the uv light (you're supposed to disinfect first before you put it in). Who knows, maybe because I am also a nail technician I notice these things more. After that pedicure experience, I opted out of the manicure and just got a polish change. I used the Essie week long polish, that was super thick. My technician even said that it was thick and that it was almost out yet she kept painting. I dried, paid and noticed that she still put that thick almost out bottle of polish back on the shelf. Hopefully no one else picks that polish. Maybe I went on a bad day, maybe I caught a newly trained technician. I would probably give this place another chance- one first impression does not define an entire salon. read more

I have been going to Spa Nail City for almost 5 years. I have tried other places in the neighborhood (because I do feel their prices are a tad high) but I keep coming back. I never make an appointment and usually do not have to wait when I walk-in. For the most part, I feel they do a nice job on no-chips, pedicures, and waxing. Sometimes the quality of the services are hit or miss, depending on the nail tech you get, but most do a nice job. I find the waxing the most inconsistent...some take their time and really clean you up nicely, trim the longer brows with scissors, use a soothing gel afterwards, etc...others go a bit more quickly and it's not as great. But most of the time I am pleased. Everyone on staff is very friendly! I do wish they had a bigger no-chip polish selection with more on-trend colors. read more

Not impressed... I made an appt here for a no chip mani/regular pedi because of the good reviews on Yelp. The good: The place was clean, they took me right away (I came in early), had a nice color selection, and the shop ran well - no one had to wait very long, and they communicated well with the walk-ins. The meh: My nail shape is just OK. Some are noticibly different than others. I picked the same Opi color gel and polish so my fingers and toes would match. My nails have 4 coats of gel, but my toes only have 2 coats of polish, so I ended up with an obvious color difference. My cutiles were cut back, but they still look rough. The bad: My tech did not soak my nails to soften my cuticles and ended up cutting me in 4 places. All in all I was disappointed, and out $75 + tip. I didn't think the job here any better than the nail show downstairs from work, and the place downstairs charges less. Next time I'll save myself the trip and some $$. read more

Goodbye Cici Nails, I found somewhere better. I am way too lazy to switch salons, and even though there's nothing wrong with Cici Nails, I was never wowed, and besides shlepping to Lakeview for a nail appointment left a lot to be desired. I decided that trying a new place was in order, so naturally I turned to Yelp. This place came up first, and as an added bonus, was less than a 10 minute drive from my house. I have an event to go to tonight and it's been too long since my last manicure, so it was the perfect excuse to go get one. I made an appointment just so I wouldn't have to wait. I arrived on time, and was seated immediately. The manicurist worked methodically, but quickly. She didn't chit-chat, instead choosing to focus on the task at hand. I wasn't feeling particularly sociable, so it was actually appreciated. Less than 20 minutes and two coats of Essie Fishnet Stockings later, my digits were magically transformed and looked as if they've never touched a dirty dish, or lifted a finger. I wish that was the life I led (no, not really). They have a rewards program as others have mentioned, and free parking. My only minor nitpick was the music. I realize spas and salons are not known for playing great music; I was just crabby at having to miss the last hour of Saturday Morning Flashback. It was 1982, a stellar year in music, but I digress. I'm very conscious of the clean factor in salons. I've been known to call out nail techs if they didn't wash their hands before they come to work on my manicure. I've also been known to walk out of salons, feet soaking wet out of the pedicure chair if I've noticed some not-so-clean practices going on. That's why it was so hard for me to find a place for my nails when we moved. It was so hard not to drive 40 minutes back to where I knew I'd get a good mani/pedi in a clean environment. But I braved it and luckily on my first foray to a new nail spa, I found Spa Nail City. I've been back a few times now because their service is great and the gals are the nicest bunch. It's on the smaller side--only about 5 pedicure stations and maybe 8 manicure stations.But it's all clean and tidy. They accept walk-ins, but as with most places, if you're short on time or don't want to wait long, best to make an appointment. They offer a great mani/pedi deal on Mondays and Tuesdays--$35, can't be beat. They offer manis/pedis,facial waxes, basic massages. They carry the more popular brands of nail polish and also offer no-chip. They don't really advertise no-chip, but just ask at the desk. My nails always look great after my visits here. I love the mini shoulder massage you receive when you're sitting at the nail dry station. And they play the best music piping overhead. A wonderful relaxing environment. read more

Which could only mean I was completely awake while this fantasy occurred....which also meant the super hot cabana boy wasn't going to be coming by with a palm leaf fan and cold drinks. I had read Colleen's review and I figured if the nail-maven liked this place it must be good. Let me tell you, she wasn't lying. The place is immaculate. It's got to be one of the cleanest nail places I've ever been too. The staff are amazingly friendly and eager to please. I got the regular pedicure and I could've sworn it would've been a "spa pedicure" by anyone else's standards. My feet, legs, and back were all massaged. I was in heaven. Since my beloved Gloria left my favorite nail spa, I've had to search for a new nail technician who gives great massages in the confines of an uber clean environment. Fear not Yelpers, your Nail Queen has come to the rescue. Not only is she Queen Yelper, but she's also the Nail Queen....let's give a round of applause to Colleen.... Hannah did my nails, but another technician did my pedicure. Not too sure why they switched off, but maybe business was slow and they were divvying up the work. Hannah gives excellent hand massages but on another visit, she needs work on the foot massages, which are my favorite part of the experience. The area is clean, calm, and the owners are really nice. On Mondays and Tuesdays, manicure/pedicure deals are $10 less, for $35. I'd recommend to come on these days but make an appointment, as they do get busy with their special. read more

On the recommendation of this site I went out in the pouring rain hoping to find a new nail salon. Went in, explained that I wanted a full fell set. Lynn began to take my polish off (I had the already soaked off my old nails the night before and put temporary polish on myself) I explained that I would like my nails put on flat and not curved. She gave me an argument that they would not be strong like that and she refused to do them. I explained to her that they would be plenty strong as the acrylic is strong and i had been getting them done that way for 20 years. She refused to do them and i had to leave there with the polish on one hand half off. Sooooo if you want to go someplace where the customer's wishes are NOT granted, then this is the place for you. Yelpers, you never fail me. I get a pedicure about once a year, and I've had exactly one manicure... ever. But my feet were in bad shape, and I needed them to be strappy-sandal ready for work this summer, so off I went to the best reviewed spot on Yelp (well, any nearish to me, anyway). Perfection! The magic began when I asked for a pedicure and they told me manicures were free with a pedicure that day (Tuesday!). How could I say no? Sign me up for Life Manicure Number Two. Place was nearly empty, parking was easy and free, prices are more than fair, and it's clean and comfy inside. No scrapers for the pedicure (or none given, I didn't ask) but they buffed me up and chiseled me down pretty good. Warm towels, the massage chairs, the works. And while my nails were drying, an actual neck and shoulder massage. The guy even helped me pick out some color (or I should say tried desperately to get me to select some color) by painting his own nails so I could see how things looked. I usually go to CnD nails (which has a special on Thursdays for $45 pedicure + no-chip manicure!), which is sort of nearby, but when they couldn't get me in before New Years Eve I decided to try Spa Nail City last Thursday. I wish I'd just left my nails alone and my bank account in tact. I wanted a pedicure and a no-chip manicure. The pedicure was alright while I was there with the exception of the extremely short massage. The no-chip manicure was surprising here - not only did they skip the cuticle care and normal parts of a manicure, they layered the polish on very thinly and I left with what looked like only one coat of nail polish. Although I had chosen the same color for my hands and feet, they don't match at all as the toes are several shades darker due to the thickness. Once I got home, the troubles kept coming. The pedicure was chipped in several places before I even made it to my New Years party. As of yesterday, 7 days after receiving my "NO-CHIP" manicure, it is chipped in two places. I have been getting no-chip manicures every couple weeks for a while now and this has never happened to me before. My grand total for this experience was $75 + tip. I wish I would have just opted for the regular manicure since it's chipped anyway. At least then my cuticles would look nice and I would have gotten a massage out of the deal. Boo. read more

The racist one comparing the owner to various satire versions of Asian characters in particular. That is an awful review. The owner is really friendly, nice and runs a tight ship. We've been going here for years. still the same people working here, very nice. Here's a list of positives: 1. CLEAN. I've gotten my nails here done plenty and waxing done twice. It's spotless. 2. NICE. the workers are really nice. 3. INEXPENSIVE but competitive. 4. GREAT WORK these ladies do impeccable work. I used to work at a very fancy spa at North & Sheffield. These ladies are just as good. Cons: 1. The lighting in the waxing room. But I guess they need it so bright 2. Parking lot is full of terrible drivers but not really their fault. That's it. Oh my! Where do I begin to explain my love for this place. I can almost always walk in and get a mani or mani-pedi with no wait or a short one. I do call ahead though now just to be sure. The staff there are amazing and willing to do anything to give the customer what they wanted. I have never been rushed out. I go there regularly, and often while my nails dry they do massage your for a few minutes which got me hooked so now I go and while I dry will get a chair massage. If you want someone to use Cathy and Anna are pretty fabulous! The managers are also great. The place is always clean. If you get a card (stamp card) you can work towards you free mani. Whenever my girlfriends get together we go there because they will always seat us next to each other to continue to chat. In addition, when relatives from out of town take me I always bring them there as I know they will never be disappointed. They do give student discounts. If you go Monday - Wednesday they have a mani-pedi special. In addition, it is a great place to throw a party. I did one over the summer. They accommodated all of my friends and even let us bring alcohol. They were great with me as we will celebrating my birthday that they split who I sat with for my mani and pedi so I got to rotate and talk to everyone. They also massaged everyone for 5 minutes about maybe longer for no extra charge. It was soo much fun. read more

So a week and a day later, my nails (both hands and toes) still look pretty fab. Had to change the polish on my hands of course, but everything else is still holding up nicely. This is a relatively new nail salon, the interior is nice (love the nail stations) and the employees were all super sweet and friendly. It's difficult not to be happy when you're getting top-notch service. The mani/pedi combo took a little over an hour and I felt pampered the entire time. Mondays/Tuesdays are $35 mani/pedi days, and they also offer student discounts. It's well worth the trek off the beaten path! read more
