    Fresh, wonderful flavors of Eech.

Nina's Bakery is absolutely a must visit for delicious, fresh, authentic Armenian Food and goodies! I have visited this awesome family owned business for years! We have had them cater events & grab market items for creating our own delicious Armenian Foods. I stopped by today in the late afternoon, and everything I wanted was fully stocked. In the refrigerated section, I got fresh Yalanchi, Tabouli, Eech, Baba Ganoush, and Hummus. All these were super delicious, & authentic - & these items I got happen to be Vegan! Being 100% Armenian, let me tell you, I have attended numerous events and their mezza (Armenian Appetizers) are either the ones being served, or they would rival anyone else's! I love that I can count on Nina's to stock my fridge with consistent, delicious flavors! Also picked up some pita bread and Chorag too! Other family faves from here are lahmajoon, tourshi, lavash, manti, & braided string cheese. FYI-The feel when you enter is very welcoming, and it's always nice to be greeted by a member of the family. You can often see the hard working employees in the back making fresh items too. Shelves are stocked & organized with pantry items, refrigerated, and freezer items as well. When I love something, I want others to know about it- so there ya go! Enjoy, go check them out!

Ask the Community - Nina's Bakery

Any word as to when Nina's will open? Or if it will. It is our family's go to and their loss is is palpable 😢

    Bakery is open!

When is the openning date? Why is it taking so long?

I was near there this week and see some construction stuff in the building but no workers...I am looking forward to it opening....too.

    Is this place opened yet?

    Yes. Now open.

Where will the new location be?

7054 N Herndon next to DiCicco's, same strip mall as The Market. Just called them, watch for a February 2019 opening! :)

So it's a month later now, has the new location opened yet and where is it?

They will be at Herndon and West. As of November 10th they are still not open.

Has the bakery opened in their new location?

I was just there on The 15th and it's not open yet 🙁.

I highly recommend the Babaganush appetizer with homemade pita bread. Followed by the freshest most beautiful salad I've had in a long time. The main course arrived and we dug In anxiously! The beef kabob tasted like Filet mignon and the lamb was the most tender and tasty I have ever had. The service was great and we can't wait to bring friends to try this amazing restaurant. The crust was paper-thin, shatteringly crispy, and topped with juicy, savory minced beef and warm, fragrant spices that hit perfectly without being heavy. The Cheese Borek and Spicy Borek were equally crave-worthy--light, flaky, golden dough wrapped around a creamy, mildly salty white cheese filling that was rich but not overwhelming. Every bite was comforting and dangerously easy to finish. Missed out on the Ajarakan (sold out!), but that just means a guaranteed return. Easy 5 stars. Bookmarked and not skipping this stop next time I'm in Fresno.

So it was a bit disappointing for us, since most of what we wanted to try wasn't available (Spinach Borek, Ajarakan, Mini Khachapuri, and Nazook Gata). I had 2 Lahmajune (aka Lahmacun, Lahmajun), which I really loved. These were delicious, like a super thin pizza crust, topped with chopped beef in a flavorful sauce with spices and bits of veggies (onions, parsley, red peppers, etc). I also had a Spicy Borek, which was good, but I didn't love the filling-to-dough ratio on this one. I tasted the dough more than filling. My husband, lamenting the lack of Spinach Borek that he was looking forward to, had only 2 Maniesh (aka Manakeesh, Manakish, etc.) for lunch (and a Tahini bread for a later dessert). The owner who helped us, heated up our order (since it was all baked earlier and cool by now), but my husband later told me, his were barely warm. He really liked the topping of the Maniesh (Za'atar, which is a blend of several different spices including oregano & thyme). But he found the pita-like bread the Za'atar was spread on too dry, and overwhelmed the Za'atar. He enjoyed the Tahnini bread more, being just a sweet, light dough. Prices were quite reasonable, except the Spicy Borek seemed a bit much, compared to the other items on the menu. (Also, the Ajarakan is double the Spicy Borek, at $13. Maybe it's worth it, though; I can't say, since it wasn't available.) Due to the prices, I'm rounding up my rating to 4*.

We updated our reservation to 20 guests the day of (6 were children ages 1 to 13). Although we were seated by 12:30 p.m., They took our order at around 12:45pm. We were disappointed to hear that they were out of lamb. The drinks didn't arrive until 1:30, appetizers around 2pm and our meals not until about 3/3:15pm. The restaurant was warm, guests were thirsty, and no one checked on us or offered refills. When my husband asked about the delay, we were told it was our fault for having more guests, despite updating them ahead of time. No apology was given. At the end, there was no effort to make things right. The tables weren't cleared of dirty dishes. We were even denied plates for a birthday cake because they "didn't want to wash dishes," forcing us to buy our own. What should have been a special celebration turned into a very frustrating experience. We won't be returning.

As I rushed out of the restaurant, I left my credit card. In my haste to be the 3-hour traffic back up to the Bay Area, I completely forgot until I got halfway back home, stopped for gas, and realized I couldn't pay for my gas with my card. I called them and luckily the same gal who was my server picked up and remembered me, confirmed she had my CC and told me to come back and get it. I told her I was back up in Oakland and asked a HUUUUUUGE Favor of them, to mail my CC back to me to save me the 6 hour round trip drive and ALL the headache I'd incur of getting a new card and having to redo all of the auto-pay set for countless bills with a new card number.
