About mid-day on a Saturday, I went here hoping to see what a serger could do for knits that a…read moresewing machine couldn't - sew a seam and trim the seam allowance. I met Jim, who was very nice, quickly showed a serger and then said but if you're going to spend that kind of money just get a better sewing machine. I get it. Sergers do one job and are priced like sewing machines that can do more. But still, I was there for the serger. He shows me a lovely sewing machine, mentions they had a floor model that he could sell for $200 off and with warranty. Now, I'm in sewing machine land looking back to the serger wanting to see more. The sewing machine was nicer than what I have and indeed piqued my interested, but I hesitated because I'm a hobby sewer and I'm of the opinion the best machine you have is the one you use. I thought a serger might help me speed along assembly. That's when Mike, grandson of Luke, came over with his high pressure pitch letting me know this machine would be shipped over to the KY store where it will be snapped up for more than he was offering. He also said a lady came in for needles and walked out with a $5000 machine. Heyo, good for her, not for me. Mike continued on letting me know it was Saturday and he'd be leaving soon (it wasn't near shop closing time). When I said I was not going to buy, he quickly said have a good day (if you've heard Adam Carolla say GOOD DAY! it was similarly dismissive)! and walked away. I hurriedly thanked Jim for his time and left before the door hit me on the way out. With ladies who can drop $5k on a machine when coming in for $4 purchases, Luke's isn't missing my business or anyone who doesn't respond favorably to the high pressure sales pitch. Unless you need the brands they sell, there other sewing machine dealers in the Cincinnati area!

I shared the price I found online (from a very reputable dealer) and was told that dealer was not any good, they didn't know what they were doing and the price was for a used machine.
