Well maintained course with a slow front nine but fun back nine to finish! This is a par 67 course because there are no par 5's, and many of the par 4's are short so there is some lag time as you wait for people to clear the green ahead of you, especially #2. Highly recommend you get an early tee time (i.e. before 8am) or it'll easily be a 5+ hour round. Most of the par 4's have dog legs that you have to get the right distance on to avoid getting stuck behind trees, so use your golf app's GPS or hopefully you're playing with someone familiar with the course. The back nine has nice elevation changes and bunkers to challenge anyone, and the greens all have fair and even rolls. $55 a round feels a little high for par 67, but what isn't expensive nowadays. I've paid more for a lesser maintained course. read more

Straight dog track... this place looks like they are running the pooches and there is a crowd out back. My friend had her thermos stolen here. Who steals a lady's thermos. We were in the pro shop checking in and some thief stole it right out of the cart. Parking here is risky. The restaurant can't tell you it was closed. I haven't been back since. read more

Don't golf here if you are just learning. The course Marshall will harass you for being slow and threaten to kick you off the course, especially if you are female! Very rude, aggressive and unprofessional. When we complained to the manager, he was also rude and asked if we knew how to Golf! The course is a muddy mess, slippery from first tee to 7th and too many repairs needed. If there was a zero I'd rate it ZERO. We will Never go back! read more

I'm very grateful to my friend who posted about Navi Catering and the 19th Bar and Grill, because otherwise I wouldn't have known about it. I had conflicting information when I was doing some research on this place; Google said it was permanently closed (I corrected that). It is absolutely open. Decided to check out this place for lunch today and I'm really glad I did. Despite my small car, getting here was a little tricky due to the narrow roads, which are mostly for golf carts, but once you get to the parking lot at the end, it's all good. The drive is absolutely beautiful and it's hard not to want to just stop and take it all in. I mistakenly parked in the front of the building, but the restaurant is at the far corner. I discovered after I left that if you circle around to where it dead ends, you can go right into the restaurant and not have to walk down the long hallway in the main building. The restaurant/bar/grill is great! Not a huge menu, but I opted for a hot dog and fries, which was only $8.00. The fries were seasoned and so good and the portions were pretty large. They have bottled drinks and a table with an ice water dispenser and snacks for purchase. The place is pretty big and when I was there I was the only one seated in the restaurant. The other ladies that were there were outside on the deck. My server was extremely friendly and I really enjoyed talking to him. I was having a not so great day and he really cheered me up just by being friendly. This place is open till 6pm every day (I believe they open at 11), so I'm definitely going to come more often. I had a good time playing here yesterday. It was a Sunday afternoon but still busy at 4pm. The twilight price was a good deal and the course is maintained well. $13 for a pull cart. We were paired with a regular who knows this course very well. He gave us a lot of good tips, which I will share here. This course doesn't have par 5 holes. The front 9 is fairly narrow and using the driver is risky until holes 7 or 8. The back 9 has more challenging holes but play usually speeds up. read more

A nice short course for seniors, women and children to play, but not a good course for most adult men who are even somewhat skilled at striking the ball. It's very short which I knew coming in - I only played the front 9 but I only got to hit driver once on the 8th hole which was the only 400 yarder on the front 9, the rest of the day was either an iron off of the tee or the hybrid. Having said that I did like the layout a lot and the course is in excellent shape for this time of year. I wouldn't call it a challenging course but it's certainly got enough going on to make it enjoyable to play considering how short it is. Clubhouse staff were very helpful and polite about me taking my 7 year old on the course with me. I'll be happy to play it with my daughters when they're older for sure but for now it's just too short to enjoy for me. read more

An unimpressive front 9 precludes a surprisingly well layed out back 9 with some nice elevation change. I have to admit I was extremely skeptical about what I got myself into heading into the turn. I played early on one of our dime a dozen 70 degree spring days in the PNW and thought I had payed entirely too much ($35 walking rate) for a weekend round of golf. The front 9 is extremely cramped with all but a few holes being under 300 yards. Even with several nice peeks of Lake Ballinger, there was nothing special about the layout at all. Having barely rolled out of bed to make my 7 am tee time, I didn't have time to grab some breakfast so I decided to get some food at the turn. The #19 Bar and Grill had some decent breakfast items, but I asked for something quick and easy. The very nice woman working the bar (I wish I knew her name) was very helpful and recommended the Charlie Special. At $3.99 and a cooking time of only 3 minutes, it's your best option for breakfast at the turn. A suped up Egg McMuffin with hearty thick cut bacon that was cooked just right. I ordered 2....1 was plenty! The back 9 was night and day compared to the front 9 with a well designed layout with forgiving rough and some length for the big hitters (still no par 5s). There is enough trouble (tree lined fairways and green side bunkers) to make the course challenging, but not too challenging that you'll go through a dozen balls. Overall I think the asking price of $35 is a little steep considering the front 9, but the back 9 made me feel a little better about it. With such short par 4s on the front I can only imagine how backed up that course can get throughout the day. Each group basically has to wait for the group in front of them to leave the green before hitting their tee shots on at least 6 of the first 9 holes. Had I teed off an hour later, I'm sure my round would have been 5+ hours. read more

They had some new kid today, Sunday June 4th, First off he charged me $39.00 with a cart for 9 holes and it was almost six o'clock . . What! I looked it up and I'm not sure how he got that number but so what I just wanted to get in a practice round for the next day. Just so happens I dropped part of my gear on the coarse and went back to look for it and then decided to take a leak in the woods, next thing I know this kid is hollering at me that I only paid for 9 holes and I'm like I'm taking a leak. Fun little course if you do not mind the chance of death by golf ball. I played on a Sunday and it was packed but pace of play was quick not speed ball. But NO JOKE you are always under threat of a golf ball to the face or back of the head. The staff was friendly and course was semi healed from being punched. Blow away by the customer service and the way I was treated. Worst golfing experience of my life. After my first whole golfing, something happened to my back and was in an incredible amount of pain, immediately realized that I would not be able to continue and tried calling the front desk to see if I can get refunded because I couldn't play, got transferred around and finally got back to first person I talked to and he said no one is Available and told me I had to just keep calling until someone answered, called and called and called and got ahold of a kid named josh who didn't give two shits about my situation and basically said sorry nothin I can do and have a good day. Even though I couldn't even push my golf cart up a hill I had to get help. No refund, no free round, no money back. Just a big fat F-U for coming and have a nice day. If you are looking for a positive experience at an all around good golf course and want to be treated right, stay away from the Nile. read more

Went here for the first time with 3 of my buddies who hadn't been there either. At first we were pretty pumped and really liked the drive into the place. You drive in through the golf course on a small long winding driveway that leads back to the pro shop. Upon arriving at the pro shop it's a pretty nice scene looking down upon the 9th & 18th greens. The pro shop is just a little shed that is separate from the bar and grill. We only ended up paying $16 for 18 holes after 3pm. That was an outstanding deal. It's bizzare as the website talks about a dress code, but there were people in sweat pants and jean shorts and tee shirts. Guess I didn't need to deck out, although I do like to look nice while golfing. The holes were fun and not too challenging as there wasn't even a hole near 400 yards. The course was in pretty good condition as well. The back 9 par 3 that is the serious drop down with the view of the freeway and mount rainier was a real treat. The 18th hole is also fun. All in all the golf was great. Two problems, the bar which says was open till 8pm was closed when we made the turn at 5:45pm. That sucked. The guys in the pro shop had no idea about anything bar related saying they were completely separate. Whatever. Also ran into some idiots that stole our balls from the fairway, but that's not the golf courses fault. The 3 stars come from the dumb bar being closed with no sign. Otherwise I'll probably go back again. It's hard to beat $16. read more

We had a party scheduled at this venue for November 2020 but because of Covid it had to be cancelled. I tried calling many times to re-schedule and never received a response. Finally Shelby called me back and said that they had no availability in November 2021 to re-schedule our event. Although they have been holding our deposit for over a year they chose to give the date in November 2021 to a party that hadn't even put a deposit down yet. Now because of their delay in getting back to me and giving the new date to another party, I have to try and find another venue and it is going to be difficult. Tried to take my 10 yr old son golfing there today. $89 later for our round, we walked over to the #19 bar and grill to grab a drink and food to take with us (noon tee time). When the server/bartender came by to check on us, she told me I couldn't buy grab and go items like bottled drinks and pre-made hot dogs "until all the other sit down patrons have been served" (and she gestured multiple times to some diners who apparently were waiting to be served). I tried to make it clear that I was just after the items listed on their "quick service menu" which was posted right beside us on the damn counter, and she again waived to all the diners that were there before me. Like, I get it, I'm not asking you to make us a burger and fries before these other diners get served, but why won't you sell me these grab and go items? Isn't that the point of grab and go items? Not even the courtesy of asking if i have time to wait for however long it takes, just "you'll have to wait until all these other people have been served". I told her I thought she was being rude and she told me to have a nice day. This alone deserves a one star rating but that would be unfairly punitive to the golf course management, who apparently are a different outfit than whoever runs the grill. The pro shop cashier promptly granted my request for a raincheck to come another day, which was appreciated. read more

This course is best suited for the golfer who hits the ball relatively short and straight. Control is the best asset to have on this course since most holes are relatively narrow and bordered by some type of trouble. Watch out for that third hole, it's a doozy! The road to the pro shop winds through several of the holes on the front nine, so you'd best hope that the golfers that happen to be playing the course that day also have a fair amount of control, or you may be paying for a broken windshield! Nothing happened to my car on the way in or out, fortunately, but it did make for a tense drive. The course is in pretty good shape. They maintain it relatively well for a low greens fee course. Some holes are right on Lake Ballinger, so there's a nice view in a couple places. The biggest issues I have with Nile are the pace of play and the numerous blind tee shots that you have to take due to undulating terrain- a recipe for disaster and several golf-ball-induced-concussions. On all of the par 4s, there were at least 4 groups at any given time. Sometimes, there were 5 groups on a hole (2 on the tee box, 2 on the fairway, and 1 on the green). On a couple different occasions, I was almost hit by the tee shot from the group behind me and I even came to find out that I almost hit the group in front of me once because you can't really see the fairway that far ahead of you and you don't know where the group in front of you is. The best you can do is wait a while and hope that they're far enough away. Dangerous, to say the least. Additionally, I would recommend coming here for your first time with someone who is familiar with the course since you can't really see a lot of the terrain and don't know where to aim and/or not aim to avoid trouble. I will probably continue to come back here for the twilight rates ($19 after 5PM when I went in August, but it varies, so call ahead) since it's so convenient to access (right off I-5), inexpensive, and good for some practice. But I would absolutely avoid it on the weekends. I was there on a Monday evening and it was horrendously slow. I would anticipate that on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, you're looking at a 6+ hour round. read more

Used to be a great "10 hole" course when it was private. Then they ruined and made it a public 18 hole course. I play it every year in a tourney and with family. However I always feel as though I am treated like I have a disease by the staff. Like they are somehow better than me because they are a "golf pro" at public course in Seattle, WA. It's always packed and the holes are short. I grew up loving and playing this course with my father and now I look at playing here as a "have to" not a "want to" I may be biased having played there when it was private, but the changes were not for the betterment of golf. Updating my review as several changes have been made upgrade the experience at Nile: 1. First hole has been changed by moving the green to the left, making it a choice hole. Driver or strong 3 wood down the right side results in a pin high chip shot, up an down birdie oppty. Or lay up with an iron to the right side of the fairway. Left off the tee is locked out by trees or OB. 2. Greens are in great shape this summer (2014) 3. Bar/restaurant is open until 7pm Nile is always a temptation of sorts because it is near my house, but the course has gone from an OK executive course to a beater public semi-golf course over the last few years. In that time they have changed their positioning from a private course that takes public play to a public course. The layout is klugey, too tightly packed and too short. The bar is always closed by the time we have finished playing. The speed of the greens and condition of the fairways are inconsistent. The clientele has gone steadily downhill. Like another reviewer, I have had multiple incidents of a wayward hitter from an adjacent hole hitting my ball, laying in my proper fairway before I could get to it. You can say this is not the course's fault but it is a function of holes being too close together and a deteriorating quality of clientele as Nile struggles to keep itself in business as a public course. read more

The Nile isn't a bad little course. I suppose I say "little" as there are no par 5 holes. I broke my tee on almost every box, since it was as though a pavement roller had gone over the ground multiple times.........it was almost impossible to drive a tee into the ground it was so hard and compacted. And the unbelievable wet grounds, whether it was the fairway or the greens, everything was soaking wet. And it hasn't rained significantly for weeks. Someone mentioned watering by firehose? Seriously? The best part of the Nile, believe it or not, is the food. I've had many a golf course dog, and the Nile has the best, hands down. This isn't one of the usual pale pink things laying in a soft, almost soggy bun. The dog is actually grilled, and is sort of spicy. The bun is toasted. This is what you want when you are hungry for a dog at the turn to the back 9. We ended up having lunch at the #19 cafe too. (The dog was just an appetizer). They have a decent variety of sandwiches that come with house-made potato chips that looked really good. I had the pulled pork sliders, which were very good! We asked for a little barbecue on the side which was the perfect addition to these tender little morsels. The coleslaw on the side is really quite good. Maybe just a little toooo creamy, but it tastes homemade and zesty. So, yeah, the Nile isn't the most challenging course, but it was a great deal with the coupon you can download on their website. We paid $25 for the round and a cart. Not bad for a Labor Day golf outing. read more

After reading some of the reviews I decided to post my own, this course is not for the long hitter,however most "long hitters" are not very accurate so therefore should just stay away.Personally I enjoy this course and play it often it offers a challenge to those of us who are truly mid to high handicappers.Most courses that are popular in this area tend to be long rounds so get used to it.My wife and I played this course on a beautiful day and played in 3 hours!I will not share the day or the time.If you are a true golf fan and want to play a nice course this is the one for you....long hitters put away your drivers tee off with an iron and just enjoy. Have been playing here for years. Minutes from home and I usually don't even have to have a tee time (during the week) going as a single. They always work me in within 30 minutes. Course can be frustrating for long hitters as there aren't any par 5's. Most holes are 250-300 yards (see scorecard). But it is a great course for beginners and golfers who want to hone their short game skills. Hole #3 is the only hole with a sharp dogleg. The rest are fairly straight. Call the clubhouse at #9 tee box and they will have a hot dog ready for you at the turn. Good discounts for seniors. A bit pricey on weekends especially if you need a cart. Good place to find tons of golf balls if you know where to look and have the time. read more

Besides the course/parking lot not being well maintained the customer service is horrible! When you turn into the place you have to go through a windy road to park/go to pro shop and pray not to get hit by the golfers on the course on your way there. There was a banquet/function i attended and some of the employees were intoxicated and yelling obscenities to the guests. When confronting the event manager he could not give straight answer about his employee's being so rude and drunk on the job. read more

The course is OK. No par 5's.....My biggest complaint is that there is NO RECYCLING.....none! No cans, bottles...nothing. Seems so out of touch with the Seattle area and the huge recycling bar that this area has set for the rest of the nation. I will probably play here again but will NOT purchase anything from the bar/restaurant area unless they start a recycling program. read more

Course had poor signage making it difficult to know where you are going. Our cart broke down on the 16th hole so we walked the final three holes. When we got back to the clubhouse we told the young kid in behind the desk what happened. "Did you wreck it?" Really? "You should have called and let s know." Sorry I was not aware of your policy that is not posted anywhere. At the very least an apology would have been nice instead of the skeptical looks that we received. We played this course for the first time and would not recommend it for good golfers. Although the greens are in good shape, the course is very short and the fairways were spotty and not well maintained. The price was a rip off as we paid $75 for the two of us and that was with a coupon we got online. They should have on,y charged $25 a person and we would not have been disappointed. I got married at this golf course, and oh my it was wonderful. If you ever need an event like a wedding, auction, anything, seriously, Marcus and his team are awesome. They are so kind and helpful! Their ballroom is beautiful and huge, it fits a good amount of people very comfortably. and i love to eat so the food was very important to me and it was SO GOOD. It was so hot outside on the day of my wedding. I think it hit 100 degrees. The ballroom had air conditioning, thankfully, so that helped a lot. We got married right outside on the putting green, the view was beautiful. The only downside is there is no AC in the bathroom! So for sure bring fans because with all the girls in there getting ready, it gets hot! However, the bathroom is huge, at least for the women, I did not see the men's. I had at least 10 girls in there most of the time and we fit pretty comfortably. There were couches and a lot of mirrors. The layout on the tables is beautiful and they give you so much room to do whatever you need to do or want to do with the room. I couldn't think of a better place to get married. Everything was perfect. We were even able to go on the golf course to take pictures. You just have to be careful with heels sinking into the green. They just ask you to wear heel caps or wedges or flat shoes. read more
