Absolutely appalled by the level of disrespect tonight. Me and our friend group had an autistic friend in our party that came to have drinks. We first came in and he gave him and hard time about getting a drink because he thought he was "acting weird", we explained that he was autistic and he understood and proceeded to let him get his drink. Later on, 30 mins later, he goes to get another drink and is refused a drink and is made fun of by the bartender and mimicked and said I'm not serving an "autistic fuck". 2 men that seem to be keen with the bartender are tagging along and making disabled noises, mocking our friend in the bar. We came in of a party of 20. Celebrating a birthday and regulars of this bar. I will NEVER be back here. This management should be ashamed. read more

Nightcaps struck me as a below-average bar. It definitely epitomizes the term "dive bar," but I don't really mean that in a good way. The inside of the restaurant was very old-fashioned, but to the point of looking gross and unkempt. The bartender wasn't exactly rude, but I had to stand at the bar for about five (5) minutes before having my order taken. What I really didn't like about Nightcaps however, was the other patrons. They were very obnoxious and rude, and struck me as being very cliquish. When I was standing at the bar waiting for my drink to be made, this lady screamed in my ear to the bartender, and became visibly upset when the bartender wouldn't drop what she was doing and immediately close her tab. In my opinion, Nightcaps tries to serve as a "classic," "relic of the past," type of bar, but kind of misses the mark. It wasn't really my vibe. read more

We have been coming here since the Whig closed to catch a drink and food. The bartenders are great, and Mark does a phenomenal job in the kitchen. Our favorites are the Egg Rolls, Pot Stickers, Cheese Sticks, and Lumberjack Pizza. It would be perfect if they added Hamburgers and Steaks to the menu. By far my favorite bar in Columbia. This was absolutely my "Cheers" bar! Met great people and made great friends the couple of years I lived in Columbia. Everyone is super friendly and welcoming! I loved coming early to shoot pool for a few hours until the younger crowd started to filter in... it gets pretty crowded the later it gets. Drink prices were reasonable and the food was some of the best "bar food" I've ever had! The mozzarella cheese sticks were more like cheese logs! Loved the pizza and the raw fries... everything was great! Fun listening to Touch Tunes or even coming to watch a game. So many great times! I'll definitely miss a lot of those smiling faces... Stopped by Christmas night. This is a nice small bar/lounge to go to randomly. They have 3 or 4 televisions that had the game on at the time. Drinks are decently priced and they also serve food. There is just the right amount of seating available both at the bar and on the floor for it to be comfortable yet a fun space. read more

Great little bar, definitely a locals place. It's conveniently located across the street from where I live so they get the prejudicial brownie points from me. Also, I've noticed it's more of a cool guys crowd that comes here. (e.g. guys smoking cigars, guys with pink pants, etc.) They have a pool table and all the obligatory bar arcade games.. Drinks are not watered down, but that could have been the bartender that night. Comfortable leather couches, outside seating... Parking in the rear.. What's not to like. I'm taking a star off for the lack luster decor ..and the mafia vibe entrance.. But that quite possibly could go both ways by adding to that aforementioned "cool guy" factor I spoke of... read more

A smaller dive bar on the outskirts of the major "party area" in Columbia. You won't find college aged party animals on a normal night. This bar is full of regulars. The doorman, Hal, is the kindest man you could ever meet; my favorite bar tender, Mel, is great at her job, quick on her feet, and knows what she's doing behind the bar. The folks that work here and run the bar will learn your name after a few visits, the bartenders learn what you like to drink, and you will make friends with the patrons and staff whether you go alone or with friends. They have very good late night food that is not too over priced. They'll whip you up something that isn't on the menu if they have the ingredients on hand with no problem. There is a pool table, juke box (HUGE variation of music!), some arcade style games, a good handful of TVs that you can easily see no matter where you're sitting, and a very nice, newly redone outdoor patio area behind the bar. There is now a TV, covered area, benches, and tables out back which makes it much easier and more fun to relax outside. No smoking is allowed inside, smoking is allowed on the patio. The general age range of the regulars is mid 30s and up. It's not a party bar, it's a "go have a few beers, play a game of pool, and be home before 10pm" bar, although they're open until 6am some nights. Highly recommended for someone who's outgrown the party scene and looking for fairly priced drinks, fun company, and a scaled back "come as you are" environment. read more

Another local dive bar that has all the old cigar smoking guys from Yesterday's . I love shooting the bull with these old timers and drinking a cheap beer while snacking on the free goldfish crackers at the bar. If your looking for someone to kiss your arse every time you order a drink I am afraid your in the wrong place. So after I spend a Saturday night indulging in the drink. Great little dive bar right across the street from my place...cheap drinks, pretty good crowds, awesome staff, and in a pretty quiet and safe part of town. There are a few questionable regulars, but otherwise it's a fun place to hang out. Pro-Tip: the mozzarella sticks are insane...best I've ever had. And they're HUGE. read more

Love the Nightcaps! Best kept secret for drinks and awesome bar food. There is an early happy hour crowd which runs till about 7pm then there is a lull until the next big crowd from about 9pm till daylight. So if your out and about and looking for somewhere hang, give it a try and you will also become a fan. read more

The worst staff in columbia, well just one member of their staff. The short, round bouncer is worst person I have ever encountered in columbia. I work as a waitress at a restaurant that has a similar atmosphere, so I understand having to deal with drunk people. One night two weeks ago my sister and I went with a group of friends. He denied my (21yo) sister and put her ID in his pocket. When I politely asked for the ID back he told me "shut up, don't be a b****". We walked home and got two extra forms of ID and he eventually let us in, then he gave my sister a very uncomfortable, sweaty hug... Then last night, I tried to give Nightcaps a second chance and encountered the same bouncer. My group of friends and I walked up at 3:50am, right before last call. Our entire party was let in the bar, except for my roommate. He tried to say her ID was "real", but invalid because her height was stated at 5'4 and he said she looked 5'3. She responded with "Dude come on, I'm just trying to get one beer" and stepped forward. He started yelling at her, calling her a b**** and grabbed her by the arm and ripped her backwards (Also, she has a broken foot and is wearing a boot). Not wanting to escalate the situation, she calmly told him "That's fine, y'all close in 10 mins anyways I'm just going to wait here (on the sidewalk) for my friends to come back out". He got increasingly aggressive and preceded to scream, cuss, and name call her. I understand it was late a night, he's had a long shift, and probably has dealt with a lot of unruly people, but his behavior was completely uncalled for. One, he should never touch a customer the way he grabbed my roommate (that's assault). Two, Nightcaps is no Pavs and should hold themselves to a higher standard, like treating their paying customers with respect. That bouncer needs to be fired and probably change his profession. We will no longer be giving them our business. read more

We went in the bar as part of "Devine Night Out" and were pleasantly surprised. Despite being busy due to the event, the bartenders were pleasant and efficient. The food was good and quick service. It's a nice place to "hand", for sure. We will be back, for sure. read more
