Fun place for a cool cocktail! Located in the downstairs of the Robinson Room & The Grand, The Urban Tiki is a great place to grab a cocktail before of after dinner. Made from fresh juices and clevery packaged, most cocktails range from $8 to $15. Bartenders are open to substitutions and presentation is everything. Most drinks can be served as a mocktail as well! We had the Green Lady mocktail and it was superb! There is also a full bar of regular spirits. The space is small but can hold 40 to 50 people easily. What would make this a 5 star is to have it up on a rooftop instead of a basement. Great service from the fun bartenders too!

First off I want to start by saying this is a good ole "down home" kind of bar / restaurant. That…read morebeing said if you know, you know. I stay next door pretty often, and I've never came in. Although I have been to waffle House, which I'm sure I reviewed prior. I came in around supper time, 6:00 p.m. or so, and it was probably at 75% capacity. I sat at the bar, after being welcomed by a local fully equipped with his own Skynyrd beer koozie!! Hahaha! They have karaoke, and they karaoke DJ spinning all the good country hits, literally emulating exactly what I play at home. Anyhow, the local that pulled my chair out essentially, told me that the "bartender sucked" But in good ole down home local fashion, she clapped right back, and obviously he was joking cuz she is phenomenal. Despite having a completely full bar, and waiting tables, she acknowledged me almost immediately. Even sat down in the bar stool next to me to take my order and chit chat and go over the menu with me. I think her name was Alicia, but regardless she was outstanding! I ordered hot wings and lemon pepper wings. They came out really fast, really hot, and really good. I kind of wish I had room to order another entree, but it filled me up. As I waited for my food, I was suddenly engulfed by an entire group of locals. Now this place, is the mature crowd, and they were so nice they sort of took me under their wing! This is the epitome of down south hospitality. I've been holding out on coming to this place for a few years now, and looking back, I wish I would have came a lot sooner. I hate using the term "vibe", But this is totally my vibe. Great food, great service, great locals, laid back atmosphere with music playing and karaoke? You just can't beat it. I have responsibilities, so I had to leave really early, but rest assured, I will definitely be back. I mean who else is going to sing Jason Aldean on the karaoke machine? Thank you skynyrd's, thank you Alicia (I hope I remembered your name right), such a great experience and I'm sorry I had to cut it short! The wine menu for the flight is actually embedded with flower seeds! Also enjoyed hot goat cheese dip, fingerling potatoes, Spanish meatballs and scallops. Everything was fresh and tasty. Sitting on the patio is a unique experience. We encountered a slight tilt, many overly load mufflers and some delightfully well behaved French poodles. Service was kind and attentive. Already looking forward to our next visit.

We ordered the dip and tried a few things there that were new to us. The dip is still as amazing as always and may actually be the same recipe as years ago. Other faves from the evening were the grilled shrimp (I found them a little salty, but my friend loved them), the eggplant fries (great dipping sauces, too), and the chocolate torte (not sure if it was made there but it tasted great). The sautéed Brussel sprouts were a little underdone to us and we felt they would have been a little better with more of a crispy sauté finish. The cocktails were exceptional, as was our service with Leah. They said something about having issues with the air in the upstairs area, and they had some box fans up there to help keep the air moving. In spite of that, the atmosphere was nice for conversation and not too crowded when we went (around 6 p.m. on a weekday). If you're like us and haven't been in there in a while, go back to support and visit one of Columbia's long-term, successful restaurants. Parking is great and easily available -- and no charge!

When I walked in, I was amazed at what I saw inside, as it definitely was not what I was expecting (and I mean that in a good way!). I loved how dimly lit it was inside, which was complemented by miniature lights that were strung from the ceiling. Speaking of the aforementioned change of pace, I also appreciated how there were no TVs inside, which created an intimate atmosphere that focused more on conversing with your friends than watching whatever may have been on TV. Finally, as someone who always pays attention to a restaurant's artwork... I absolutely LOVED the artwork that was on display at Goat's. They had so many cool pieces of eclectic artwork, that you could almost consider it as much a small art museum as a restaurant. My favorite art piece is kind of hard to describe, but I guess you could say that it was of a God-like man in a suit controlling somebody who was playing golf. (I know, it's hard to describe, but like I said, it's eclectic.) My one (1) downside to Goat's, and the only thing keeping it from a five-star review, is that the bartender and servers were all pretty rude and arrogant. This is speculation, but maybe Goat's is one of those places that considers itself a "regulars" bar, and isn't very nice to people who aren't regular customers, but the three (3) employees I interacted with weren't all that inviting. All in all, Goat's was a great experience, and if it were an option, I'd probably give it something like 4.5 or 4.8 stars if I could. If the servers were a little less full of themselves, or maybe just in a better mood, I'd consider it a five-star experience. Nevertheless, Goat's was a great experience, I'll definitely be back, and I'd recommend that anybody stop in if they're looking for a unique experience in Five Points!
