When our pipes froze during the big storm this January (thankfully, without water in them), we decided to hire Plumbums again. That didn't go as well. Quality of work: The fixes Jim suggested (a series of individual junction fixes) seemed reasonable for the repairs needed, but in some cases replacing whole sections would have been more time- and cost-efficient (according to other plumbers we've had in our home who have seen the work done). And we needed four return visits within our first three days living in the house to address issues that had not been resolved or that popped up as soon as we turned systems on. One problem (heat running constantly on our first floor, making the house over 80 degrees in the winter) was unresolved until I researched possible causes myself and communicated that to Jim, who sent out one of his guys to implement the fix. Professionalism: We were frustrated by the lack of care shown toward our property. Jim's guys left plumbing debris (not just the stuff our homeowner's insurance requested, but just straight-up trash), food trash, and drywall dust in our basement and living areas. This means that the first thing we had to do after driving 3,200 miles to move in was clean up after them. Drywall was removed roughly in several locations, and although patching was not included in the estimate, the cuts themselves appeared unnecessarily sloppy (and our new plumber neatly cuts and replaces drywall as a matter of course, leaving the mudding to us, which is fine). Plumbums did work well with our insurance company to get our claim handled, and ultimately we have working plumbing. But our experience wasn't great.

Don't tell someone for 3 months that someone is coming out with scheduled appointments and rarely gets back to you when you follow up not too often but every once in a while will respond with bread crumbs and promises and no one ever comes. Don't waste time with this company. YOU WILL NEVER GET ANYTHING DONE. Also, I read the other bad review and the reviewer got the name correct, and just because the profile says where he lived at one point doesn't mean it wasn't true. Not honest - I had a pinhole leak in a copper pipe at my well expansion tank. Got Tom's card from a…read morelocal plumbing supply house, and gave him a call. He replied a couple of days later and came out to do the repair. It was a bit pricey for what it was, but I agreed to it. During the inspection, he jostled my expansion tank and told me it need to be replaced as the bladder had failed and it was full of water - and he'd do the entire job for ***$1,700*** to replace the tank, and fix the leaking pipe. He explained to me that since there was no air cushion, my well pump was cycling every time I cracked open a faucet. I just nodded, played dumb, and asked questions but I'm a mechanical engineer and I know full well how the system works and I know my pump had not been cycling. That, and the line of sweat on the tank was not even halfway up the side. The entire tank would have sweated if there was no air. BTW, a new tank retails at $199.00 at HD and Lowe's. They completed the repair quickly, I Venmo'd him the money and let them leave. I then went and checked the expansion tank myself. I depressed the Schrader valve and water should have come out if it was waterlogged. Just air escaped. There was nothing wrong with it and the bladder just needed to be topped up to it's 38 psi spec. I turned off the pump, bled the pressure down with garden hose, and used a portable tire compressor. Done. B E W A R E
