I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Surdock and their team. From the moment I walked into the office, I felt welcomed. The front staff was friendly, efficient, and made the check-in process easy. The young lady helped and solved an insurance issue immediately. Moises, Dr. Surdock's assistant was easy to talk to and friendly. Dr. Surdock was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and thorough in explaining my foot/ankle condition and the treatment options available. I never felt rushed, and all my questions were answered with care and clarity. She saw both my son, who is developmentally disabled, at the same time and she was just as thorough and helpful to him. I highly recommend Dr. Surdock to anyone looking for a skilled and trustworthy podiatrist. You'll be in great hands! read more

On July 10th, I escorted my brother, Bobby, to "The Foot Doctors of Santa Cruz" in Watsonville, which overall we would highly recommend. We had hoped to get an appointment with Dr. Mark Bennis, who as my son said after meeting him, "That guy really loves feet!" Instead, after describing my brother's foot and ankle symptoms of discoloration and swelling, and his complaint of pain, the astute, savvy, and compassionate Receptionist recommended that Bobby be seen earlier than he could with Dr. Bennis. We saw Dr. Nicole Surdock for the first and last time. She barely entered the exam room and standing close to the door, said, "I don't know why you are here. Why are you here?" In a joking/nonjoking manner, my brother answered, "My feet." (See photo of his feet and ankles.) Dr. Surdock told us that the x-rays, that had just been taken, looked fine, saying, "There's nothing wrong with your feet" adding "You should not be feeling any pain." (Bobby reported a pain level of 7 on a 10-point scale.) Fact is, it is the patient, and patient only who can accurately report their own pain level given that there currently exists no medical instrument for gauging pain in another. Dr. Surdock NEVER came within ~ 6 feet of my brother during the entire encounter. She NEVER even touched, let alone palpated, my brother's hot and swollen feet; therefore, she could not objectively determine that his feet and ankles were as hard as a boot and make an educated assessment. After contending that he "should not be feeling any pain", she then acknowledged that said nonexistent pain could be originating in and radiating from his lower back to his feet. This was the most useful and compelling info from the entire visit. She also told Bobby, "I have some bad news for you" (to paraphrase...) because such pain in the lower back, especially that which has been present for a while, doesn't have a good prognosis. I judged Dr. Surdock to be dismissive, abrupt, insensitive, and to have pretty much fled the interview. I would take him to a "Comfoot" spa before choosing to be in her exam room. We both concluded, "Never again" with Nicole Surdock. PS I just realized as i was posting the picture that Nicole Surdock probably only saw the soles of Bobby's feet given her perspective from the doorwell of the examination room where no actual examination took place. read more

My teen daughter had an appointment with Dr. Surdock to request new orthotics since her current pair have a high heel cup and athletic shoes are difficult to find where her heel doesn't slip out. My daughter needs to wear high tops with the orthotics. Dr. Surdock commented that the Jordans are not athletic shoes and the Adidas are "shoes that you wear around the house." I've gone to other foot doctors that have explained to me that orthotics can be made to fit different types of shoes. Dr. Surdock was dismissive about my daughter's issues with the orthotics and when I asked for a new pair of orthotics she glanced at our paperwork and noted that our PPO no longer covered orthotics. She told my daughter that she should take care of the current orthotics and replacing the tops would cost over $85. When I got home, I called our insurance and confirmed that my daughter is eligible for 2 pairs of orthotics each calendar year. On a side note, we waited to be seen by the Dr. Surdock for over an hour. I would understand a long wait if we were to get attentive care but we will never go back to Dr. Surdock. Following my daughter's appointment, I had an appointment with Dr. Hurless with the same practice and she was very attentive, compassionate and provided a treatment plan with a follow up appointment. My daughter recalled my appointment with Dr. Surdock from years back and commented that Dr. Hurless was so much better and caring for the same issue. read more

Stay away from this foot doctor if you want a caring and compassionate doctor. I took a friend here who has had several appointments with this doctor. She threatened her with a foot amputation if her foot didnt heal. She also told her she needed to be in a nursing home to get better care. This doctor seems out of touch with this patient and not at all compassionate. She had no idea the amount of care this woman receives, nor did she seem to care. We went elsewhere. read more

After five minutes barely, Barely looked at my feet, I'm not even sure if she ever touch them, told me to go see a neurologist because my feet are fine. Then I went to a real podiatrist Who spent a lot of time with me touching my feet doing tests and realized that my problem was in fact my feet, my arch and it was an easy fix. This woman should not be in business. I have never thought about suing a doctor before but I thought about suing her since I was a mess when I left her office. She doesn't care at all and she did not do her due diligence and therefore she screwed up. Three days later from seeing the real podiatrist, my feet are 80% better already. I had an appointment scheduled for over two weeks. I arrived 15 minutes early to be thoughtful of others time. I was promptly greeted by a staff member and after a short wait was told that my appointment was canceled three days ago. They said that The doctor had an emergency and that they called me and left a message. A message that I clearly didn't get. I took the day off work to make this appointment. I was emailed a few days prior from a third party to confirm this appointment. I completed the request and confirmed through email. I mentioned this to the staff member. She stated that they have not used any third party service in over two years. Ok, now I'm mad. How does this third party company have my personal contact information? They have my appointment time, date and location of service being sent on The Foot Doctors letterhead. I'm not a lawyer but maybe a HIPAA issue here. I then asked to speak to the office manager. She presented herself and I filled her in on what was going on. She also stated that the third party service was canceled years ago. I showed her the email with her company's letterhead and my information. I asked her, how does this company have my appointment information and my contact information? She looked puzzled. Ok, now I'm 100% pissed off. I completely understand when an emergency pops up in life. They may have called and even may have left a message (that I didn't receive). I surly never saw a notification of a voicemail. I checked my voicemail twice before writing this review. I always want to belive doctors' offices are being honest. The two days prior to this appointment, that they needed to change, they didn't follow up to make sure that I got the message. You're flipping kidding me. I had to walk out of the Watsonville office before I was really really really pissed off. The front office staff and office manager in Watsonville get an F in my opinion. I hope that someone can put a stop to the sharing of personal information with entities that no longer have active contracts with this doctors office. This review is based on the front office staff and not the doctor that I was never able to see. Unfortunately, the staff also represents the doctors and the brand negatively at the Watsonville facility. I completely feel like the front office staff let me down and ruined my Friday, not to mention needlessly using up 1 of my vacation/sick days from work. read more

Dr. Surdock has been such a blessing. She is willing to make things happen, and pick up on other health issues as well. I never did think that feet are such an important part of the body, wrong. I love her, and the fact that I can always get in when needed. The staff are great as well. Anyone thinking twice about seeing her, pick up the phone and make the call. She's become one of my favorite Doctors in the area. Can't say that about the rest of the Doctors in the Watsonville area. I never post, but she is well worth posting. read more

Dr. Surdock got me in right away for an ingrown toenail. Everyone in the office was very friendly and I didn't have to wait for long after arriving for my appointment. She was very thorough in explaining the procedure and making sure I was comfortable and the little surgery she had to do was almost painless. Most of the time, a doctor doesn't seem like they genuinely care, and they are on a time limit and want to get you out of there as soon as possible. She didn't make me feel that way at all. She was talking to me about things going on in her life and made me feel really at ease. Definitely recommend her! read more

Dr. Surdock runs a first class operation (pun intended). I had a condition called Hallux Limitus, required an operation to remove bone in two places from my left big toe. I was well briefed, the procedure was performed flawlessly, all visits were friendly, follow up was also great.. If you have to see a foot doctor, I recommend Dr, Surdock. There are good doctors and then great doctors. But in this case bottom of the rung, go somewhere else and don't return. I CAN'T express how dissatisfies with her 5 minutes she showed to my wife. Very unprofessional and not caring and rude she rushed us like we were cattle. I over looked her staff's attitude but now I know where they get their rude attitude. Go somewhere else where the bottom line is the guiding force. read more
