Had a quick stay here for 1 night before hitting the Rockies. Place was good for the price. Ice machine was a little small. Didn't want to take too much for our ice chest because I didn't want there to be none for the rest of the guests. Would recommend a newer one. Water was hot. Check in and out was easy. Only real complaint was in the room we had, the AC unit blows right in your face and the lights on the control panel were like a nightlight glowing a little too bright. Would stay here again though. Good location and a place to lay your head. Stay here if you're here for the Rockies not a resort experience. read more

Located right outside the north entrance of RMNP. Like the other reviews mentioned, this hotel is somewhat aged, but they try their best to make up for it with the little things that I thought were unique to other lodging options: - Wood burning fireplace complete with wood outside your door! - Fishing poles and all the equipment if you'd like to fish in the creek on property. Our bed really needed to be replaced. It was sagging in the middle! The room was equipped with a microwave, fridge and coffee maker which came in handy. There's also an outdoor pool, no gym. At $153/night, I didn't think it was a bad deal, but there's definitely room for improvement. read more

A little bit outdated hotel they room feels like a motel but it's very convenient to Rocky Mountain park and the town is 5-10mins drive to restaurants and shops. Bed is comfortable that's what you needed, and the fireplace is nice if you have time in the evening to enjoy. read more

My husband and I decided to stay in Estes Park on a Saturday night (first weekend of February) to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and after searching for places to stay within our budget, I found Nicky's Resort online. Luckily they had availability, so I booked our room the night before on their website. My husband and I have passed this place a number of times going up to Rocky Mountain National Park so we thought we would give this place a try. When we arrived, there was no one other guests at the registration counter, so checking in was very fast. Stacy at the front desk was friendly and gave us some helpful information. We got the keys to our room and I was surprised to realize that the "front door" was a sliding glass door. That was a first for us and when we walked up to the room, I was worried about people being able to see in, but it is tinted and there are vertical blinds that you can pull over it so that made me feel a lot better. We booked a regular King Hotel room; it was small, but cozy and very clean! It almost felt like we were staying in a little cabin. We had a mini fridge, microwave and little coffee maker in our room which was cool. The bathroom included toiletries and a hairdryer and was very clean too! The shower had great water pressure and got warm/hot very quickly. Unfortunately, the TV in our room needed a PIN to access it and we had no idea what it was and the front office was closed already, but it wasn't a big deal. The bed was comfortable and the heater worked well. A little too well. It's a wall unit and I was sleeping on the side of the bed right next to it, so I woke up a few times really hot! It made it hard to get good sleep. I would recommend maybe doubling up on blankets and not setting the heater too high during the winter. Check in is after 2pm and check out is at 10am, but when we asked about a later check out that morning, they let us check out around 11am. They do not allow smoking in the rooms, outside only. I didn't see a vending machine on the property so I would highly recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks with you or you can go to the restaurant where they sell some of those things. Parking is free and so is the WIFI. The office closes at 9pm during the summer, 7pm during the winter weekdays, and 8pm during the winter weekends so if you need anything, go in there before they close, as there are no phones in the rooms. The motel is not a bad place to stay if you are looking for a casual getaway and it is super close to Rocky Mountain National Park, which is perfect if you are heading there during your trip. Their steakhouse across the parking lot is a lovely and charming place to stop for dinner too. My husband and I both had the prime rib and it was one of the best we've had! I wouldn't mind staying at Nicky's again, maybe next time during the summer so we can see the river flow through, but it was cool to see it frozen too. 4 stars for amazing location. Can't beat the location of Nicky's resort. It definitely is an outdated motel. Resort it is not. The rooms are very outdated and there is zero insulation. You can hear EVERYTHING in the rooms next to you. ALL night. Mattress was the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on. Air conditioner was loud and need to keep it on or else the room is stuffy. Booked trough Expedia. Was suppose to be in river view, King bed with wood burning fireplace. What I got was a run down dumpy room with 2 double beds. When I called front desk to find out what happened, got run around about who's fault this was...them or Expedia. Sorry guys, this ones on you. It's a small hotel and it would have taken the front desk clerk 5 minutes to confirm correct booking. She preceded to tell me this kept happening....well, then why didn't you try to correct it?? They refunded 20% of stay which I don't think made up for it. This hotel is very dated. You can probably do better staying somewhere else. read more

This place offers a lot of bang for your buck. When my husband and I decided to celebrate our 5-year anniversary in Estes Park, we knew we had to book our trip early. Our anniversary happened to coincide with Memorial Day weekend and we were not about to pay an arm and a leg just to enjoy a quick trip in the mountains. When we started looking at rates in February (3 months in advance, mind you), Nicky's Resort was by far the least expensive for a 3+ star hotel, but we avoided it because it seemed too good of a deal to be true. By the time March rolled around and we were finally ready to book a hotel, Nicky's was still the least expensive, so we went ahead and made a reservation. Nicky's seemed to have everything we were looking for: king-sized bed, no frills, a decent bathroom, and close proximity to a restaurant in case we wanted to eat there for dinner. What I didn't like is that we were charged for the room upfront, and I had to email and ask about check-in/check-out times because neither the website or the reservation information disclosed this information. But, it was kind of nice to show up to the hotel and not have to worry about any expenses other than the nominal taxes. The lady at the front desk was very nice and gave us clear, concise directions to our room, which was conveniently located on the upper level, right next to the stairs and the parking lot. What was even better is that Nicky's Resort turned out to be a lot nicer than I expected. The room was small, but it was neat and clean with a nice, big comfy bed with lots of pillows and an extra blanket. The bathroom was also small, but neat and clean, and the shower was a total godsend after a long walk around Lake Estes. I'm usually not a big fan of the lumberjack/log cabin look, but I found it charming in the mountain setting. I felt very much at peace. Overall, this was a wonderfully pleasant experience and I'd be happy to try it again if/when we decide to go back up to Estes Park. read more

I am giving a poor review based on how poorly the manager handled a situation. I will also state I am not a person that tries to get free stuff by complaining, nor am I someone that enjoys writing bad reviews for small businesses. When talking to the manager I was pretty reasonable until she started telling me what I did wrong. Without going into full detail. My wife and I had an unruly couple above us arguing and slamming doors all night. Called the desk and there was a message that said "go to the lobby(outside)and there is an emergency number". I didn't want put my close on, I didn't want to run into this party that may be outside and be obvious I was the one calling in a complaint, I also didn't want to be part of the altercation. So I called the cops on them...... twice. Barely got any sleep. Reported it to the manager and she pretty much said refunding us isn't valid because we didn't leave the hotel at 3am to "find another hotel". She said if I left the hotel to either find another hotel or drive home (its 3am, my wife and I had a few drinks, its February and freezing,) If we did one of those two things then it would be another conversation. According to the manager "Nikole" (the manager) I didn't do enough. Even after I stated I didn't think going outside at 3am was the best idea esp after I already called the police on them. My main point is the management didn't want to accept any accountability (not having the emergency # on the away message). All of this seemed to go in one ear and out the other with the manager. After all this she continued to tell me she is trying to help me but kept giving me reasons why she wont. One thing she said to me is "even if I give you a refund, it sounds like you wont stay here again anyways so I cant give it to you" . I'm not even mad about not getting a refund, I'm more angry at her giving me reasons on why she wont and her lack of accountability and professionalism. She offered me a "discount" if I decided to stay there again. So great, you are helping me spend more $$ there. I don't understand, because if she would have refunded me, or even if she didn't and at least accepted some accountability instead of putting the blame on the customer I may have stayed there again. She was willing to sacrifice not having a customer stay there again and have them post a negative review and that customer telling people they know not to stay there over $80. I also work in Management and have customers and pride myself on treating my customers with respect. Even if things that don't go right aren't 100% my fault, if an expectation isn't met then I make sure I do whatever it takes to retain them as customers, and I NEVER tell them they where wrong because they didn't do what I expected them to do in a STRESSFUL AND UNIQUE situation that she wasn't a part of. I told her this and she said "You run your business your way, and I run my business my way" - 0 EMPATHY from Nikole. Luckily there are plenty of other options in town. Also the walls are thin..You will hear everything everyone is doing all around you. read more

Nicky's was awesome! We stayed in Cabin 1, which had a fantastic view of the mountains and was just a short drive from town. The cabin provided a fire place(with stock of firewood),pots,pans,and kitchen essentials, spare towels, and a grill outside as well. Stacy at the front was very helpful and informative. We stayed here one night. It was a nice quiet hotel. The only issues I have are the pictures on orbitz made it look more like a lodge than a hotel and the beds definitely need an upgrade. The bed we had could use a memory foam pad or something, I might be spoiled with my tempurpedic. read more

The short version of this review is if you support the U.S. military and their families I would NOT stay here. My husband's best friend was getting married in Colorado, so my husband (who is active duty) requested leave so we could go. Once his leave was approved, we booked all of our flight, hotel, and car rental accommodations. Two weeks before our trip, he was notified that he would be attending a training mission so his leave was cancelled. He received a letter from his commander to show as proof that he was no longer allowed to leave Fort Hood due to the training mission. I called Nicky's resort, and had a very unpleasant conversation with Penny. I explained to her our situation, and her initial response was that she would put the room back up for rent and if it was rented she would refund us our money minus $25. If the room wasn't rented by someone else we would loose our money. I asked her if anything else could be done since our airline, other hotels, and car rentals had all returned our money with no problem upon sending the letter from my husbands commander. Her response was "Well I don't know why you would book a hotel if you didn't know if you could come. It's irresponsible book a hotel unless you are sure you can go." This was after I had explained to her that his leave was initially approved then recalled last minute for his mission. So according to Penny and Nicky's Resort, NO service member should ever book a hotel for their family while they are active duty given that leave can always be cancelled due to mission requirements. In the end I did manage to get a refund, however, she was extremely rude and disrespectful, started yelling at me, and hung up on me twice. I have NEVER experienced such poor customer service and i would steer FAR away from this place. read more

I'm a repeat customer. I don't understand some of the poor reviews. I get it - this isn't a fancy resort in the mountains. But it is a very nice and clean budget hotel room. Friendly staff. Quick check-in, pleasant process, and rooms are in nice condition. Let's face it - if you are in Estes Park you should be outside during the day anyhow! (Beautiful place any time of the year). This is a motel, not a resort, located along Fall Creek Rd, very close to the entrance to RMNP. I expected the motel to be somewhat aged, as was the case, due to reading reviews. We stayed here for price and proximity to the park. Got a terrific price on a discount website. The bed was worn, so okay, but would not say it was comfortable. The front doors are sliding doors and our screen door apparently was broken and kept closing on us. The microwave was broken so thankfully our daughter had the room next to ours and shared hers. All night, a light shone through a small upper window, so I attempted to close the little blinds. They were broken so I could only close it partially. In the morning I noticed that our room was the only one on the second floor with that light right outside our window. The morning clerk was friendly and welcomed our comments, claiming that they would fix the problems with our room. The evening clerk with whom we checked in, was all business. Would I stay here again? For the price, in pricey Estes Park, probably. I would request a different room however. read more

Stayed in cabin 2 with 2 bedrooms and kitchen. I travel frequent and never had a problem checking in early. It shouldn't be a problem since I knew this cabin wasn't occupied the night before. When I arrived at 130pm to check in, the front desk lady said wow everyone wants to check in early. I notice in other reviews that said she could be rude but I think she does it unintentional. Rubbing people the wrong way. She seems to be very helpful afterwards. I didn't take it personally and got my room key and went on. Cabin was cozy with a fireplace. Propane gas grill and sitting area on front deck. Plenty of firewood. Bathroom was small. Rooms decent. I was looking forward to the pool but it was closed. They provided fishing poles for fishing trout but I had no luck catching anything since the steam was high and fast. Nice stay here but i would probably stay elsewhere when I return to estes park. read more

We had numerous issues with Nickys lodge from the moment we checked in. My family and I booked 5 rooms for our annual Thanksgiving getaway. When we all checked in my cousins "suite" was given away to some else. They tried fixing the problem by squeezing 2 cots in a 2 person room for 5 people. My other family members room was not what he had reserved and paid for. When he talked to the staff about the room they could have cared less, they told him to leave if he wasn't happy. He decided to just leave it as we were all together and didn't want to worry about relocating. Later that night my family got together in one of our rooms for our Thanksgiving dinner and as we were eating a staff member just opened the door to tell us we were over capacity and to leave. This led to a bad conversation with the so called manager and cops needing to be called for mediation. At this point it was after 10pm so we all agreed to just let it go for the evening and go back to our rooms and call it a night. Our plan was to wake up and check out and find some where else for the weekend. As we were all getting tucked into bed, we got a call from my nephew that there was ticks (later to find out they were bed bugs) in the bed that his small children were about to sleep in. He then called the after hour number and whoever he spoke with threatened us and told us to leave the property, minutes later police were back again (2nd time) and said the owner would like us to leave the property and that we would not be getting a refund. Cops themselves were so shocked over the whole ordeal they arranged for 5 rooms for my myself and my family for the evening. I was then forced to pack up my small children in the cold and relocated them at 11:30 pm. From check-in with the wrong rooms, staff entering the rooms without knocking, BED BUGS and the not so friendly staff we will NEVER return to this place again!! Worst experience EVER!! The hotel has a 15 day cancellation policy, so if there is any hesitation in your plans I would not book here. There are no refunds. Period. The blankets and the pillows were the thinnest I have ever experienced staying in a hotel. The four pillows we received couldn't even amount to the size of a standard pillow. The TV was so small it wasn't even bigger than my iPhone. There was hardly even any decor in the room. If you have any problem with the smell of camp fire and smoke I do not recommend this hotel. I am 5 months pregnant and did not realize there was a fireplace in the room that cause it to have a stagnant smell. It was not appealing to my pregnant nose. The only good things about this hotel was there was decent water pressure, it is 4 miles from an entrance to RMNP and the restaurant on the property is top notch. The whole reason we booked is because we had a great experience at the restaurant before. You don't get any sort of discount at the restaurant for staying at the hotel though which is disappointing. read more

We stayed in a "cabin" the first night. Which had a dirty comforter. The entire room smelled like smoke. The TV was tiny. The bathroom door would not lock. There is no pressure in the shower. There was a dead smashed spider near the bathroom window. Everything is extremely outdated. No phone in the room to contact the front desk. That morning a male housekeeper just came on in over an hour before check out time and saw me with nothing but half a towel on. Didn't even knock, just barged right in. The next night we stayed in the hotel portion, we had people above us who were yelling and slamming the door at 6am. Again, no phone to call the front desk. There is nothing there, no soda machine. Nothing. The restaurant on the property is extremely overpriced, rude waitstaff and a choice of sprite, coke and root beer! That's it. Spend your money elsewhere.
