July 20 2026 I drove my car to the shop and I spoke to the owner nick jr I told nick jr my car check engine light is on the dash and I need him to check the car and fix the problem he said ok that I had to leave the car and he will check the car he said it would be a couple of days so I told him that I removed the plastic fuse box cover under the driver side hood I told nick jr should I put the cover back on he said no because his technician are going to remove it to check the fuel pump relay so I told him please don't leave my car outside he said just leave it right here for now so I told him if you leave it outside please don't forget to put the fuse box cover back on he said ok and he also said he would call me and let me know what the problem is with the car so a week and a day later he calls me and says come and get your July 28 2026 my technician doesn't know how to fix your car and nick also stated that he forgot to put the fuse box cover back on so the fuse box is full of water from the heavy rain we got on Monday July 27 2026 so I told nick jr the owner I told don't leave my car outside and I also told you don't forget to put the fuse box cover back on so I get Ther and sure enough the fuse box under the hood is full of water and the driver floor is full of water I told nick jr can you please remove the water out of the fuse box he had one of technician blew the water out with his air hose so nick jr is responsible for the water damage to my fuse box and any electrical damage and all electrical components in the car I also tried calling him numerous times and he keeps hanging up on me. If this matter is not resolved I will take legal action. read more

I went to Nicks for what I suspected was a rear main seal leak. Nick had me come in to diagnose the problem at no charge. He got me in quickly and when they found the problem he brought me out to the shop to show me. He put a camera into the bell housing and showed me where it was leaking. Nick gave me a quote with a complete breakdown of the costs. Parts,labor,supplies and taxes. It was a fair price. He ordered the parts, all OEM. when he received them he called me to bring the car in. I dropped off my car on Wednesday and it was done and ready to pick up at noon on Friday. Hands down the best service shop in the Chicagoland area. The crew is hardworking, honest, and always provide excellent communication. Our car is 21 years old & very fussy, the team at Nick's keeps us going strong no matter what the issue is. We're former Honda dealership customers and the experience we had there drove us to look into repair shops all over the city. None, and I mean 0% of them, gave us the 5 star quality & customer service that we've gotten at Nick's. Even AAA's recommended "premier service center" was a dismal experience when it came to the basics like an oil change; their technicians were rude, they kept trying to push unnecessary services, and they left our car a mess inside. Had to go get something fixed in my tire per discount tire and as busy as they were they got me in and out very quickly. If I lived closer this would be my new place to go. Came in for wheel alignment which took months to book. Was told I needed control arms, I Was quoted double the price for parts. I saved half that amount by shopping around. Staff seems friendly, but its as if its to upsell & overcharge you. Definitely will not visit again. Shop around & save money! read more

I was told about Nick's Transmission by a Employee who told me I have nothing to worry about he takes care of everything with the Warranty Company! Since I've been to the Dealership and was taken for 2 Transmissions at the time of visiting Nick's Shop. And being in the Managers Life since he was in the 1st Grade I knew I would finally get the Job done Right. The Day I went there they put it on the Rack, told me to take it Back to the Dealership! Turning my Business away, Mgr won't speak to me. Since then I've had 2 more Dealership Transmissions! The 1st of the 2 was Slipping. The Day I drove it away from the Dealership Naperville Chrysler! Warranty Company told me to call when it goes out! your Covered. It Slipped so bad I would try to excellerate and it would stall and then caught and slammed me into a Hugh Mailbox doing $2000.00 Damage. and the 2nd one went out last week. I purchased new tires and need an alignment so I made an appointment at Nick's. I'm only available on the weekends so it was a couple of weeks for my appointment. Little wait and my car was serviced in a timely manner. Nick and the others were very curtious, friendly, and professional. While I waited, I heard Nick interact with a number of customers and treated everyone with respect and was upfront. My car came out driving as straight as a laser beam. I got my transmission fix from this shop got it back drove it for 3 days power go out I call up there first thing they say do U have oil n the engine a duh it's oil in the engine never had a problem with the engine not knowing at the time they was trying to scam me y are they so worried about the engine and I just told him the car just die no power so y worried about the engine I tow it back n I get a call 2days later from nick telling me my engine lock first of all why are you in my engine you were supposed to check your work not taking apart my engine they did something to the engine and now they saying it my fault and they not responsible well we'll see what the attorney general thinks All Nick do is lie n I have proof of that becareful with this shop they will fix your transmission but at the same time ruin your engine to get more money they gave me my car back with loose parts n they didn't put my engine back together and I didn't even give them Authorization to Touch my engine they will be paying for it when we go to court read more

This place had the best customer service that I had ever experienced. Nick explained in detail what needed to be fixed. After the service was completed we took my car on a test drive to make that I was satisfied. He also advised me to come in for a two week checkup to make sure that my vehicle transmission was still running well, no charge. This service also came with a two year warranty. read more

Went here To get a new engine put In my Dodge charger on the day I was supposed to pick up my car Nick called me and told me my vehicle burned up I was upset because my car was paid for I put a new trans and engine in the car They insurance company only gave me a car for one week I missed three weeks of work the money They Insurance company gave me was only enough to replace the car I lost my engine and trans Nick told me don't worry about it he will help me but he never did I basically lost the engine and trans I'm upset because with the money I got for the total lost was only Enough for a Charger with 170,000 miles I had a new engine and trans be careful letting them fix your car read more

The shop did fix my issue...but only after several trips back to report the same initial problem. By several I mean 5 or 6 times. this happened over the course of 8 months or so. They did eventually fix the problem but that was after they replaced my transmission(which was not even what they fixed to cure my problem) and $2k later! I wouldn't say that it is a bad shop, but I wouldn't say that it is a good shop. Plus, everytime you visit you will come out smelling like cigarettes. read more

I haven't lived in the south side burbs for long so finding a great auto repair shop with great service and reasonably priced is hard to find. I was lucky to be recommended to Nicks by another great company discount tires in crestwood. I first brought my car here for alignment and brakes. Everything was great. I'm 42 and it's hard to find any company that still values its customers with respect and a very very family feeling. It's something that I believe has been lost in the customer service trade. He knew immediately that my 03 Acura was known to have tranny problems. By far the worst experience I've encountered with a mechanic. Unfortunately, my mechanic moved location to another city and I came here because they specialize in Transmission work. I dropped my car off on a Friday morning for a diagnostic (I had the codes already but needed to verify). I was told I'd get a phone call with a quote later that day but Saturday at the latest. Saturday comes around, no phone call. I call them Monday afternoon and I get, "We'll call you in 15 min." 2 hours later, still no phone call so I call back and the owners son picked up. I was definitely mad and spoke in a way I shouldn't have, but they don't know what it means to keep your word. Horrible customer service. Ended up telling me what I already knew and didn't even open the trans like they said they would to properly diagnose. Basically gave me a ballpark figure on what it would be to rebuild a trans. My family and I were on a two week road trip and we ended up having transmission problems when we got to Chicago. My wife found Nick's Transmission online and it had great reviews so I decided to drive down there to see if they could take a look. My transmission needed to be rebuilt because it was so bad. Nick, Jim and the whole team were awesome and they were able to rebuild my transmission in one day. They basically saved our vacation!!
