I ordered the pancakes with blueberries, bananas, and walnuts, with a side of eggs. She ordered an omelet with a side of hashbrowns. The eggs were cold, the pancakes tasted like cardboard, the omelet was the most disgusting omelet I've ever seen. Went in for breakfast - ordered a milk and the waitress warned me about the price - it was $4.00 for a glass of milk! I said forget it - I will drink water - I told my daughter, heck we can run right across the parking lot and get a gallon at Kroger for $2.50! I stopped in for lunch on Wednesday at 11:45 am and the place was packed. The place looked clean and kept up. I sat at an open table and my server came right over, took my drink order, and gave me a menu. The menu was large and will have something for everyone. When she returned, I asked her preference of the hot sandwich platters and she said they sell more turkey than anything else, so I ordered that. It also came with a bowl of soup, and I chose cream of mushroom. My soup promptly arrived, and I noticed there were a lot of carrots and I'm not used to seeing that in cream of mushroom soup. You could tell right away this was made in house. It had chucks of mushrooms and carrots. I thought there were too many carrots by the looks of it, but it was perfect. Really good soup. My meal came right after I was finished with my soup, and it looked good. The gravy was a bright yellow and looked tasty. It was a little bland, so I added salt and pepper, and everything was fine. In the past month we have eaten at Nick's weekly. The food is generally very good but often the hash browns have been burnt when ordering breakfast. I love their omelets but hate the fact they actually serve the burnt potatoes and I have to ask for some that are cooked properly. I was told it was the kind of potatoes they used that caused the problem, but as a cook myself, I know better. My other issue is that it has been extremely cold in the restaurant each time we have been there in the past month and we have been given various excuses as to why. One waitress said it was cold coming in the doors (they have double doors to stop drafts), another told us it was because of the weather (yes it is winter but it was not extremely cold any of the days we were there). Yet another waitress just said "No one has said anything" (as we saw almost everyone eating with their winter coats on). And yesterday the waitress told us the furnace wasn't working! If that is the case, it takes a quick phone call to a repairman and the issue could be fixed. It is more likely that the owner is trying to cut costs by lowering the temperature. We won't be back until something is corrected with the heating issue because we cannot finish our meal before it gets cold. We are looking forward to them addressing this because it has been one of our favorite places to eat. read more

I love a good breakfast so I'm glad we found Nick's. This cozy place has a large variety of breakfast items at good prices. The little place hops on the weekend but we were able to sit down and be serviced right away. I ordered a 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy and a 1/2 order of French toast. The gravy was good but definitely not the best I've had. It needed more sausage and the flavor was a little odd - in my opinion. I'm not sure I would order it again. The French toast was yummy! Cooked just right, thick bread, and golden brown. I really enjoyed it. I would order this again. When visiting the area, I would return to Nick's for breakfast! I walked here after dropping my car off for a detailing service. It was recommended by multiple friends as well as coworkers. It was hot this particular day(Wednesday) so I was happy to get inside. The sign said seat yourself. I was semi greeted with a scowl by a professionally dressed woman and I promptly sat myself at a booth. One of the corner booths 6 seaters was empty and it was just me so I opted to sit In a 4 seater booth that had yet to be cleared. There were about 6 other tables that hadn't yet been bussed. I sat there about 5 minutes enjoying the mediocre inside temperature and the geriatric environment. I watch multiple other guests come in and sit, fill the 6 seater booth behind me. This is where to my amazement the dirty tables one of which I was sitting at never got bussed or cleaned. I watched the servers approach other guests and offer them coffee and cold beverages, food and other delights. I sat in amazement. No greeting, no cleaning, nothing. This is when after waiting about 10 minutes I quietly got up and left. Here I am. I don't recommend this place. Not based off the food, I don't know. I'm sure it's good. Simply based on management, the inability to effectively manage the restaurant at 9 am on a Wednesday morning. This industry is hard. Put the foot down and take some ownership in your establishment Nick, or you'll lose the customer base as fast as the summer comes. read more

This was our first time at this cozy little place. I came in search of biscuits and gravy. Biscuits and gravy was what I received. They were good but definitely needed more sausage in the gravy. I wasn't quite sure if sausage was even present in the towering mounds of carb deliciousness. I was in a sweet and savory mood so also ordered a half order of the cinnamon raisin French toast which was also tasty. Even the half orders were large. I think next time I would order the plain French toast. The raisins didn't quite taste right. The service and environment was cozy. I definitely would have breakfast here again. read more

I honestly dont see the appeal, we have multiple friends that suggested this place, and gave it three attempts before deciding to never go back. Its normally crowded, and loud. However no matter the volume of customers, it's always seat yourself. Leading to a confusion on wait time when stepping in when crowded and no obvious spot to sit or what table needs cleaned. We meet up with an old friend who took us out for lunch. The place was quite full with locals who were busy discussing the happenings of the community. Our waitress gave us menus and quickly brought us our drinks while we looked over the numerous items in the menu. I ordered a turkey dinner which came with soup or salad and dessert. It had a great presentation and tasted quite good. The only thing that bothered me was the color of the gravy. Yellow. Odd. My husband ordered a corn beef sandwich which he thought was tasty. Our friend ordered a chicken wrap which he orders on a regular basis. It was huge. Everybody raves about breakfast, but I tend to come for lunch. These folks are fast, have a great selection, and the servers are friendly and almost always upbeat, even on those "blah" winter days. It's always busy for a reason - good prices, good food and great service. It's also very clean - remarkably so, in fact, and they'll never let you sit down unless the table is cleaned off and booth swept, even in busiest situations. The only issue I have ever had is the noise factor - it can be a noisy place to eat if packed, most likely because of the tile floor and smaller size of the dining room. A wonderful place to stop & smell the coffee! Hot, fresh, and some very busy servers making sure you've got that, and anything else you could ask for! We stopped here during the dark, evil days of February, enjoying their great gyro sandwiches in the 'comfort' of our auto. THIS time, the dining room was open, we ere hungry, and it was on. M'Lady got the Gyro Wrap this time. An interesting take on that classic sandwich, this version is wrapped like a chimichanga in an extra large crispy tortilla...YUM! She especially like it, as often there's just 'too much pita!' for her. I thought it was very tasty too, the crunch was a welcome surprise in the gyro taste. There's not any Greek food to be found out our way, and I took advantage of the menu too. From the breakfast side, I ordered the Greek Skillet. It comes with gyro meat, tomatoes, onions, feta cheese, and peppers fried up with crispy hash browns. Two eggs (cooked to order) are placed on top, and the entire plate is covered in sausage gravy. I opted for 2 split & grilled biscuits instead of the hash browns, it was easily the most innovative and tasty breakfast dish I've been served in Michigan. Come to think of it, probably in the surrounding states as well! Delicious, satisfying, and quite different. Many of the meats and fish are prepared in house for the dishes, even sandwiches. This place is always lively. In general, I find the wait staff to be friendly. They are also patient. My grandmother has dementia and my father and I come here on occasion because she too likes the food. They are accommodating to her needs. This place has good breakfasts and sandwiches. It's a nice stop for lunch when I can get out for a meal. I haven't been disappointed yet. The hardest part is finding a seat at times which is a good issue to have for a restaurant in that the people like to come back. It's one if the restaurants near me I frequent, the others being Ted's and American Grill. Between the 3 it has the best service and the best sandwiches. If you are headed by Kroger and would like a solid meal, and can find a reasonable parking space, stop in. Be prepared to wait for a minute, but you will likely be greeted quickly. read more

If a restaurant says skillet the freaking meal should be served on a hot skillet. I thought the food to be underwhelming and very generic. It was served exceptionally quick, but at the cost of being hot. The gravy was nothing special and the hash browns were not crisp. I thought the meat quality could also be stepped up. Have been several times while working in Port Huron over the past couple of weeks. It's located in the little shopping strip by Kroger, but it has a pretty substantial dining area. Food: Solidly good American "Family Restaurant" fare - with equally HUGE American sized portions. Seriously HUGE. Price: Great Service: Very Good Over all, this is my local pick for family style restaurant and it is generally pretty busy over lunch times (when I have gone). I just finished lunch at Nick's Four Roses. As always, the place was busy, busy, busy! I ordered a cup of Cream of Mushroom Soup and a Philly Steak Parm Hoagie. The soup was wonderful. Chunks of freshly sliced mushrooms, minced carrots and other seasonings in a rich and creamy broth. A very good comfort soup for my taste buds. I will definitely order this again when it's on the menu. The hoagie arrived on a massive roll. For me, the bread overwhelmed the tasty filling. The combination of melted cheese, sliced steak, veggies and sauce was very good. If I decide to order this again someday, I will have to remember to eat it open-faced and skip the lid. I want to be able to taste all the goodness of the filling! The fast and friendly service today was greatly appreciated as we are always taking a chance of getting in and out of here on our lunch hour. ** I also found it heart-warming that Nick's was collecting donations to help the food bank.
