I was having a transom repair completed on my boat and the person that was doing the repairs recommended that I use Nick's Creative Marine for the removal and re-rigging of my Yamaha engines (which were running perfectly.)
When I spoke to Nick, he never mentioned that he didn't work on Yamahas (he even provided information specific to problems that my year model of Yamaha sometimes experience.) He said that he'd get my job done quickly (as a favor to the fiberglass lady that was doing my repairs.) He gave me a price for the job, and promised to complete the work quickly.
When the work was complete, I was informed that my boat would not be receiving the usual sea trial because Nick had gone out of town to the Bahamas (apparently none of his other employees are capable of completing a sea trial.)
When I took the boat to the coast and sea trialed it myself, I found numerous problems with the work that Nick's Creative Marine had completed. The starboard engine did not have the throttle cable strapped down, so the engine was not responsive to throttle adjustments. The port engine throttle linkage was missing a (very necessary) pin to hold the linkage together. The port engine rigging was also run incorrectly, causing the fuel hose to pinch, which resulted in the port engine running 800 - 1000 RPMs below the starboard engine. I diagnosed these problems myself.
When I called Nick to let him know about the issues and ask if I could bring the boat back to him to fix the rigging problems, he refused. He said that he only worked on my boat as a favor to the fiberglass lady, that he was not a Yamaha shop, and that he didn't want my boat back in his shop.
I was charged full price for this job and I was promised that my engines would be removed and replaced correctly. What I received was poorly completed work, resulting in my engines no longer running correctly - and a complete refusal to correct their mistakes by Nick himself.
Stay away from this shop. They don't stand behind their work. read more
