He was Jeremy on the spot the next day n was running a little behind and gave me a heads up. He came out n bid the job n bid it a tad to low so I gave him a bit more. He came out the next day and got right on it with 2 of his stud sons with the get her done yesterday type attitude. They cleaned up real good n need to come finish up but did what they had to do until the sprinklers are complete. He asked for a deposit after he was done and I gave him more then he asked for.. Responded to a Yelp project request, answered all my many... many questions very promptly. Price came back lower than a SMUD contractor that included the smud rebate, as well as better rate than the other bids. Opted for a 14-50 plug cause I already had a tesla mobile charger, and looks great and charging ~10x faster. Yelp license confirmed and Yelp warranty is also nice for peace of mind. Yelpers - Sorry for the novel below but Jeremy and the team at Nichols Electric deserves much more in gratitude from me than a token paragraph on Yelp saying they're great guys even if that's true. If you read nothing else below please know that Jeremy and Nichols Electric are a small, well experienced, high quality electrician crew and they're WORTH EVERY PENNY! Some background to explain why I am so impressed with Nichols Electric; I am a project manager with 20 years experience and former general manager of a specialty commercial install company. I managed sales/service/installs etc. with multi-skilled trade techs including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, in house and externally via subcontractors. I'm also a true DIY nut. I can fix or install most things however complex they are and have paid maybe 3 other contractors in the last 25 years to work on my home/vehicles. I don't cut corners for money on product or building code and expect results to meet a high standard.... If I screw up... I redo it. I know talent when i meet them and if a pro doesn't have a good plan on a repair or install (or know what they're doing...) I can be brutal to deal with. I am a new customer and now steadfast advocate of Nichols Electric! I called Jeremy the owner and enlisted his crew in December after placing a number of calls to local electricians for help in saving my large solar and whole home battery project which had a hard end of year deadline. This job included wiring the ends of solar panels and installing 3 batteries, 2 large inverters and a gateway for whole home backup. Way too much work for any sane/reasonable person to attempt alone, much less under a tight deadline. Although I was knowledgeable on the gear to be installed I was willing to employ a professional electrician for the hookup of equipment to grid and between components. My goal was to ensure things were all done correctly and by my deadline. I did not want to burn my house down, fail my building inspection or electrocute myself in an attempt to save money (or my pride!) on this project which exceeded my personal DIY experience and comfort level. Jeremy fielded my call for an estimate for the 200 amp hookup of an AC disconnect required by PG&E to connect my heavy electrical equipment for whole home backup while out of town. Several other companies simply ran away or didn't engage in a conversation (we can't, won't, don't....) when they heard the word "solar" (which was not the house side electrical system I needed done) or just gave me a ridiculously expensive bid to avoid the work. After a few minutes on the phone with Jeremy and me sending some details and pictures he gave me a ballpark range which was fair and reflected the work I knew would be involved. We scheduled a site walk at my home, covered what I requested, and he answered my many questions well. Jeremy spent time absorbing the totality of not only what I asked of him but the whole project I was undertaking - I didn't know how much I appreciated that at the time. He expressed interest in mounting all my indoor/outdoor electrical gear at ground level and hooking up all the major electrical which was more than I initially wanted. I said sure, quote me but be willing to break out what I want (disconnect, junction box, meter and heavy electrical between components) versus what he was capable of doing. He under promised and overdelivered by providing a quote quickly that was fair for the scope of work we agreed on - a hallmark of a solid tradesman and business owner. Staring down a 3 week timeline with the holidays fast approaching I bit the bullet and went forward with the bigger quote to mount all gear and terminate the electrical with Nichols - I slept far better having asked for help even though I have trust issues and I'm handing $50K of brand new equipment I bought to a relative stranger. We scheduled quickly and they showed up on time. Any concerns I had vanished when I observed their work. Jeremy, Taylor, and his 2 sons that apprentice with him showed up and dug in. They operated as a great team, navigated very tight clearances, executed to code standards beautifully and were a pleasure to deal with. I had most parts already onsite and we quickly fielded anything that popped up that they needed. 4 full work days and some change later I have the fully functional system my family has dreamed of! We had to modify the scope of Nichols work a little (OK, a lot - I was behind and they were very helpful and much better than me at many things as professionals) so the bill was adjusted with discussion beforehand along the way and it was a very worthy value for what they got done for me. Simply put I would have failed without them. DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL NICHOLS ELECTRIC! I got my final inspection done on the 1st pass on the last day of 2025 after numerous challenges.
