John is one of the most honest contractors you will ever work with. We learned about his company through word-of-mouth from another family member, who was also impressed with his service. We purchased an old 70's home in Fair Oaks with old electrical work and an old Zinsco panel that needed to go. John upgraded the panel to a modern one, ran all new circuits throughout the house to new outlets, updated necessary circuits to GFCIs (like in the bathrooms, etc.), ran new circuits with proper grounding (none of the old outlets were grounded outlets), and also installed a whole-house surge protector. John took care of all the necessary permits and coordinating with SMUD to place a new drop from the main power lines to my new panel. The entire project ran smooth and was done right. John did such amazing work on our house, we ended up hiring him again later for 2 additional projects; one to put in a new circuit and dedicated breaker for a hot tub hook-up, and again to redo the circuit controlling our pool as the previous owners did not have it on its own circuit which was dangerous. Again, both projects went smooth and we were more than happy with the quality of the work. John is super friendly, knowledgeable and professional. We recommended him to another family member as well, who also needed a new circuit put in for a hot tub. They had received a few quotes from other companies and were being told it would be more work than what seemed to make sense for the project. John came out and was able to install the circuit they needed in a more efficient way, which ended up saving them a lot of money compared to the other quotes they were getting. He has installed ceiling lights in my kitchen, a QuietCool fan in my attic and a number of small jobs. this week I lost my phone and needed someone to crawl back up into the attic to reset the blue tooth switch to my new phone. We just bought a house that had some 'creative' wiring, and was missing some needed outlets, and we needed a good electrician. We were referred to Electric Connection by another contractor and what a fabulous referral it was! John came over to take a look at what we needed and wanted - wrote us up an itemized list of the repairs and the costs for each repair. We were able to then pick and choose the repairs we needed done first, and wait for others that weren't needed immediately. We needed a lot done and ours was a 2 day job. I'll say this - I am not easily impressed at all. But John impressed the hell out of me! He started by going through our list of repairs, made sure that he knew exactly what we wanted, made changes to a few things that took money off the repair list - who does that?? An ethical person, that's who! Long story short - John quickly took care of repairs in a beautifully organized manner, cleaned up any messes (not all contractors do that...!), and ensured that everything was done right (yes, we had him check every single outlet in the house and he did have to fix a couple for safety), and that we were safe. I cannot recommend Electric Connection, the owner John and his assistant R.J. enough! We bought our new home (built in 1935) earlier this year and it was immediately apparent that we were going to need all new electrical to make the home our own - we have solar panels to install and a Chevy Volt hybrid. The house came with an old FPE Stablok Panel which was never going to work - seriously Google those panels, they are responsible for fires and deaths and are out of business for a reason - and had electrical wiring "draping" overhead from the house to the garage about 6.5 feet off the ground. You could easily reach up and electrocute yourself, or walk through the driveway with, say a ladder and electrocute yourself. So we contacted E.C. and John was super friendly and professional, taking the time to explain everything he needed to do and why he needed to do it. On the day he showed up, I expected they might, maaaaybe get a few things done...but was surprised when after a day's work they had completely run all new conduit, trenched for the new sub panel in our garage (for the new car charger) installed the main and sub panel....seriously far more work than I thought they would get done. It was ready for inspection day one. After inspection they came back out and in one more day routed all the new wiring and installed the breakers and the house, new garage outlets and car charger were fully operational. And not only was it done but it was done exceptionally well. Take a look at the pics. Had a Challenger main panel that was arcing at the bus bars. John responded promptly, examined the panel, and gave me several options for repair. When we found that replacement bus bars were no longer available, I decided to have the panel replaced. John coordinated with SMUD for design approvals and disconnect/reconnect, and handled the permit process with the city. He kept me informed regularly about the progress of the (slothful) bureaucratic process. When the work was scheduled, he and the crew showed up on time and worked diligently, changing out the panel in about six hours. Every wire was labeled and routed neatly in the box for a very professional appearance. The box was mounted securely, flashed and caulked against water intrusion while maintaining the integrity of the building paper protecting the siding. He then installed new trim to match the existing re-sawn 2x4s on the house. John checked the ground bonding on the house and updated it to meet code. The job passed scrutiny from SMUD and the building department without any corrections. John wasn't the lowest bid on this job, but his price was fair, and the quality of his work indicates a high level of experience with residential service panel change-outs. I will use the Electric Connection for future work, and I recommend them highly. read more

Finally an electrician that is efficient, knowledgable and follows through with what he says! I had met with several electricians at a commercial property to get bids on a job before I found John. Little history some were late showing up, a few said they would get me a bid in a week and I never heard back from them, one took over a month to get me a bid, and these were referrals from property managers and friends! So I opted to find one on my own and found John through Angie's list. The day I called him he said he was on a job but might be able to stop by and take a look after. It was short notice and it would be hard for me to meet him and after being inconvenienced so many times before I didn't want to go out of my way just in case. He said no worries he'd call when he could head over and when he did it was a bad time I couldn't leave work but told him he could see what he needed to and I would let the tenants know to show him whatever he needed to see. He went by and I got a quote within a week and a few phone calls for clarification of things. This was a big job ($8,000) and I appreciated his professionalism and great communication. I agreed to the bid and felt very comfortable with John without even meeting him in person! That speaks volume in itself, since I'm a very skeptical person but when you have a good feeling you just know and I had never had a good feeling about any of the other electricians I met. Skip ahead we ended up changing our original plans and he was able to adjust and go with the flow. I met him in person and he gave me new bid and I had the work completed within the week!! John treats customers like they should be treated. He keeps in contact, does what he says, does the work professionally and most of all makes you feel confident in your decision which translates to no worries for you. I couldn't recommend a better electrician for any work you have residentially or commercial, he can handle it all. His prices are fair and compared to the bids I did finally receive from other electricians he was right on point. John and his assistant RJ did a big job at my home, which includes a complete panel swap and adding an underground 220 volt line to the back of the property for a new spa. To say John did a good job would be an understatement, his attention to detail and detective work found a couple new items that needed to be addressed, one being a undersized wire to the AC unit and two, a romex wire in the attic which was installed right over the cross beams that double as the walking path. John and RJ cleaned up well, their bends in their galvanized metal tubing were very precise and they used high quality products and they proved it. I was around them quite a bit while working on my own internet wiring projects and fixing of the sprinklers in the backyard and got to know the guys a bit on a personal level, I have to say I know I hired the right guys for the job.
