Food was ok steak was tough. But their Italian food is good. Bread is good. Interior decor could use an upgrading and at least a dusting. Loved their salad bar when they had one. Service people seem to be friendly but sometimes felt like they were too talkative to the customers they knew. I don't want to hear their conversations when I'm eating...don't they have some work to do somewhere like the dusting I mentioned! Decent little restaurant in Wachula. They have a nice salad bar and great dinner rolls. They have a nice sized board of daily specials. I had the grilled pork chop dinner and baked potato. It came with two decent sized pork chops and the baked potato was a very generous size. It also came with the salad bar which I thought was well stocked and fresh. I believe it was $14.99 for the dinner. Other people with me opted for the broiled seafood platter which they said was very good and another person had the veal parmigiana which was also good. I have been told their breakfast is even better. I would be interested in trying that one day. read more

We have come here for over 4 years and the service, food, quality, and side choices always right on. Took my family today and the salad bar iconic Greek salad is no longer available, the soup was not on point. Ranch dressing was watered down, sirloin was chewy lacking flavor. Shrimp Alfredo lack flavor and only 4 pieces of shrimp served. The best meal on our was the pork chop. And you can only order one pork chop instead of two. The service was fast and friendly. We had three of the daily specials, stuffed grouper with a baked potato, and one catfish fingers with fries. The portions were generous and the fish was fresh. This place is a complete joke, and the food was absolutely hideous. I never complain about food but this was bloody hell. I ordered a hamburger and fries and got the worst pile of rubbish i've ever seen. The burger did not look real at all and I could not even taste what types of meat was in it. I let my father take a bite and he instantly spit it out. We asked the waitress about the burger and she stated that their "local competitor went out of business and they got a bunch of their leftover food." I'm scared to even think about how long that burger has been in a freezer. Apparently according to other reviews on yelp the hamburgers have been bad for over 5 years and yet the manager looked completely perplexed that there was something wrong with it. I happened to get a quick glance of the kitchen and I don't think it would be anywhere close to passing an inspection. I was shocked and this place is absolutely dreadful. read more

Horrible!!!! Broiled stuffed shrimp with stuffing so dry it was inedible. The shrimp was about the size of a quarter and looked like it had been beaten with a hammer. The fried grouper was soaked in grease. The best thing was the salad bar. Didn't try the soup because the tureen was covered in soup droppings. Waiters and waitresses with stained shirts and everyone seemed to be confused over what their job was. The hostess said it all depends on whose cooking whether you get a bad meal or not. read more

We just stopped in for lunch as we passed through town. The salad bar is really great! Try the tomato Mediterranean salad, so delicious! My husband had a burger which was great too. Just a tip....they save the bread that you don't eat off your table and reuse it....hope my bread I sneezed on tasted good in your dinner!! I will never go back to Nicholas' Family Restaurant because I ordered the "Nicholas Seafood Platter" and the scallops were spoiled. As soon as I put one in my mouth and bit down, I had to immediately spit it out, I started gagging in the middle of the restaurant, and I had to run to the bathroom. I was embarrassed. The waitress scratched my meal off the ticket (outdated system- no POS system), but when I went to pay the cashier, the total seemed like it included my meal. I felt too bad at the time to question the charge, but I thought about it once I started feeling well. The fish was slimmy or very greasy. The breading came off. I didn't try it. It could have been spoiled too. There is not a good enough excuse to serve bad seafood or any spoiled food to the public. A chef should check the refrigeration, dates, the temperature of the products, and whatever else is needed to ensure public safety. The public's health should be their number one concern. I have never ate bad food from a restaurant before, obviously this is my first. The place needs to be shut down, inspected, cleaned, updated, and professionally and properly train all staffs. read more

I had the misfortune to visit this sorry excuse for a restaurant last Friday evening. I ordered a burger & fries. The burger was obviously pre cooked and must have been reheated. I ordered medium rare, and received shoe leather on a lousy bun. The fries were cold. What really turned my stomach was the side cup of mayo was a nasty yellowish color on top, obviously from being left out uncovered too long. Sent it back, and the second plate was cooked right, but low grade meat with little taste. My G.F. ordered a Ruben sandwich, which looked awful and with a pitiful amount of meat in it. Her Mom ordered chicken Parmesan. What a joke, it was chicken strips with some cheap cheese & sauce that resembled watered down ketchup. The attempt at Italian decor is sadly tacky. Ice sickle Christmas lights hung over hanging grape vines. Nice looking place on the main road hwy 17. Lots of parking and room inside. Waitress was great and nicely dressed. The menu was the same as every Greek restaurant with a large price tag. The one meal I found there to really be good was the stuffed flounder. The fish was true flounder with the best tasting stuffing ever. The salad bar was huge with lots of choices. The soup was plain. Meals are served with fresh homemade 5 inch round roles. There is only one veg of the day and it was green bean that were very plain. Mash potato were instant. Called everyone sweetie or honey, don't care for that but won't bitch about it, but I got one cup of coffee with no refills and then finally had to ask for the bill so we could leave.
