Came for the 2025 Ice Cream Wars to support local schools. What a fun reason to eat ice cream and try flavors I wouldn't have normally. I got a flight (which came with a waffle cone) because I couldn't decide which flavor I wanted. Got the Oceanport Obsession, Red Bank Churro, Thorne's Treasure, and their very popular Peanut Butter Palooza. Alllll so good but my favorite was the Oceanport Obsession. The lady at the counter was so friendly and patient even with the huge line she had. She hustled it all herself. This Highlands locations is waaaaay smaller than the Middletown location but for some reason, I like it better. Much cozier AND ample seating. Street parking as opposed to Middletown's parking lot so pick your pleasure. Either way, I'm a fan!

I was craving ice cream after a long beach day and came upon Nicholas' creamery. It was a little hard to find walking up on the Main Street because the signage is flat, but I'm glad I found it. Very clean and bright inside, with many flavors to choose from. The texture and flavor was better than your normal ice cream. It was creamy and lasted for a while even though it was only a small cup. Must go back to try more.

Great ice cream shop, happened to go in and it was quiet. The girls were lined up waiting for us. Let us try the vanilla basil, which we thought was too strong with the basil but interesting. Opted for other delicious flavors. Girls working were super friendly, flavors were amazing, place is very inviting, obviously well known by the locals people kept walking in to get a cone or a cup!

Bourbon ice cream was really good.

Heavenly, fresh made ice cream at heavenly prices. They also offer a few vegan flavors and they occassionally offer new and exciting flavors but my personal favorite is the Hudson Coffee Crunch. Grab a seating inside or outside on their bench as you enjoy the flavors. You can sign up for emails and they will send a discounted coupon.

Yummy homemade ice cream. They have really unique and interesting flavors. I went with the Jersey sweet corn and it was delicious. They let you try multiple samples.

Best ice cream ever! They always have such a great selection of flavors and they give you taste tests too. They now have multiple locations down the Jersey shore which is awesome!

Very good ice cream, creamy and delicious. Not too sweat and a lot of unique flavors. My friend got corn, and I got a goat cheese ice cream. The waffle cone looked super home made and was still warm. The one thing is there was a long hair baked into it so I didn't eat a whole part of the cone, other wise everything was great :) They are also cash only. Which is a little odd because they seem pretty legit and have other locations...

Was in the Atlantic highlands area and decided to stop for some ice cream.... so happy we did. The ice cream was to die for. Nicholas's creamy had so many options and you could definitely tell that the quality of the ice cream was top notch. The service was excellent and the location couldn't have been better. They even had some seating available, cute little ice cream shop. Thanks for making this night one to remember.

Absolutely delicious. The Millennial Chum and I stopped by this past Saturday afternoon on her recommendation after a nearby lunch. This is my kind of ice cream place - verging on hipster, with unique flavors that require an extra few minutes of hemming and hawing because there are tons of legit options. This was a rare instance where I was completely okay with there being a few customers in line ahead of us to give me more time to make a decision. There were a few strong contenders but I ultimately ordered one of their small batch options, Taliercio's Italian Cookie. I'd...make that a flavor year-round. I'm a big fan of Italian cookies in general (my favorite is probably the anisettes), and one of the main reasons is their emphasis on almond extract. I didn't notice or confirm any anisette cookies in there, but I'm pretty sure I spied and/or tasted a few rainbows and butter cookies. It's a great flavor, and the cookies tasted fresh. In my experience from getting, say, a cookie dough-type flavor, the only potential problem that can arise is if the cookies are stale or the consistency is off from the ice cream. Not here. Perfect and tasty. The Millennial Chum went with one of their "normal" flavors, coincidentally their version of the cookie dough with brown sugar, and was enormously pleased. One big caveat here - they ARE cash only and have an ATM on the premises. In fact, the initial reason we stopped here was because we planned to go to an estate sale and the Millennial Chum needed to use said ATM to ensure we had some viable legal tender for that event. We didn't end up even going to do that, but I'd say plan B was a lot better and more scrumptious.

Tried the buttermilk lemon blueberry flavor last weekend, and I'm back here again this Saturday (I live 30 mins away and I like being lazy on weekends). It is that good. Also tried the Strawberries and Cream today and was equally amazed. Come eat here. No samples, cash only.

We arrived at around 3:30 PM and there was barely a soul here, although there were customers puling off the highway every once in a while to make a purchase. Polar Bear is a strictly outdoor ice cream establishment, meaning they have a few benches to their side, but there is no indoor seating area for customers. The ice cream shop has pictures of ice cream and multiple menus plastered everywhere on their windows, so it's a bit overwhelming when you walk up to them, but they basically serve hard ice cream, soft serve, sundaes, shakes and Italian ices. If you're lost and not sure of what to order, feel free to ask them what their best selling flavors are (LIKE THE DEER IN HEADLIGHTS THAT WE WERE). They told us that their most popular ice creams were the hard Black Raspberry and Banana soft serve, so we ordered each on a small cone to themselves. Verdict??? Personally, I liked the Banana soft serve more. It DEFINITELY was banana, based on the taste, and it was very refreshing. Honestly, I'm not a huge banana ice cream fan, but this was really good. As for the Black Raspberry, it was solid, but I felt that it needed to be jussssst a tad sweeter because I didn't think I could taste it all that well. I will say that the serving sizes of the ice creams were huuuuuge, so it was nice to feel like we got our money's worth on the small cones. Also, if you've got kids with you (like us), you can ask for a free cone to split some of the ice cream onto multiple cones, which we do alll of the time everywhere. Definitely a nice little ice cream shop and I love that it's located right off the highway on State Route 36, so if you're traveling in the area, you don't have to go far because all you have to do is literally pull over and park.

Due to circumstances beyond my control, we arrived at noon on Thursday, breakfast ended at 11am and so we pivoted to lunch items that included a Boars Head cheesesteak, chips and pickle plus a really tasty cheeseburger . As we were leaving, my husband decided on a large chocolate peanut butter milkshake which he deemed awesome. (Thanks Todd for stepping in and making one) We stopped at our pre planned list of farm stands and headed home. Very next day, Friday, up at dawn to get a few chores out of the way so we could head out to Gronsky's for the day #2 breakfast deadline! I prefer sitting at the counter and watching their magician, Tyler, assemble the food for orders, crack open the eggs, drop the pancake batter in the proper corner and keep all meats aligned for the plates. He's the king of that kitchen and each one of those servers is the queen doing the hustle, bustle, slide to the left, back up and move forward like square dancers on the move. From the Taylor ham, provolone and fried egg sandwich on that FRESH Kaiser roll to the omelette with those delicious home fries and my PEACH PANCAKE . . . . all of it was their special take on breakfast served their way. Almost 50 years, folks! Prices are absolutely reasonable for how the food is prepared and presented, quality ingredients cooked according to diners' specifications. What more can you ask for? We'll be back for September POTM!!

It was very busy when we got there, but they had three employees working between the walk-up window and the inside counter, so the line kept moving. There is plenty of seating both inside and outside, which made it easy for our group to find places to sit and enjoy our ice cream. Even with the crowd, the staff did a good job keeping up with the orders and everything moved along efficiently. If you're looking for a classic spot to grab some ice cream on a warm evening, Gronsky's is definitely worth a stop.
