I got the Elvis and midnight jersey and both were delicious mixed together! The service here was definitely lacking. Not sure if it was because it was midweek but the people working the counters didn't seem to really want to be there. Usually ice cream shops would at least offer one free sample but no such case here. Also, I had to come back up to get a bowl for my overly melted ice cream and they just kept looking at me and going away from the line to "help" others when other staff were already helping them. If you are okay with just getting ice cream and not caring about service, this is not a bad spot!

Today I decided to try Nicholas creamery. I have been passing this establishment for at least a year. I had a craving for ice cream today and they had a coffee ice cream with specks of chocolate in it so I decided I decided to give it a try. I also had the kid throw some peanut butter chocolate topping that looked like crumbled brownie. Well, I was not disappointed because it was really good, really good and you could definitely taste the coffee in it. I have found a new ice cream place! I can just order a small cup and have it instead of buying a pint at a supermarket and eating the whole thing when I get home. They had a lot of different flavors and so I'm sure there's something for everyone there. I will stick to my coffee and I do plan to visit them again most likely very soon.

Peanut Butter Palooza - This was homemade peanut butter ice cream with peanut butter cups and Oreos. This was unreal, one of my favorites tried here. There was plenty of peanut butter flavor, but not too much where it was an issue. Oreos were a nice compliment. Root Beer - This tasted exactly like root beer and was unique being in ice cream form but could not have too much of it as I became tired of it quickly. Grandma's Strawberry Shortcake - This was homemade strawberry sweet cream with strawberry jam swirl and shortbread cookie pieces. This was alright. The crumb pieces were too large, and surprised there was not more of a strawberry taste. Mango Lassi - This was homemade Greek yogurt sweet cream with homemade mango jam swirl. I wished there was more mango. I liked the slight change with Greek yogurt being used and it was very apparent. The sugar and whatever else was used helped to offset the blandness of regular Greek yogurt.

Solid, solid ice cream located RIGHT ON the highway…read more After hitting up the beach on a Saturday afternoon, the sweltering, hot temps called for us to go grab some sweeeet ol' ice cream and, fortunately, Polar Bear was only a few minutes from the beach that we were coming from. We arrived at around 3:30 PM and there was barely a soul here, although there were customers puling off the highway every once in a while to make a purchase. Polar Bear is a strictly outdoor ice cream establishment, meaning they have a few benches to their side, but there is no indoor seating area for customers. The ice cream shop has pictures of ice cream and multiple menus plastered everywhere on their windows, so it's a bit overwhelming when you walk up to them, but they basically serve hard ice cream, soft serve, sundaes, shakes and Italian ices. If you're lost and not sure of what to order, feel free to ask them what their best selling flavors are (LIKE THE DEER IN HEADLIGHTS THAT WE WERE). They told us that their most popular ice creams were the hard Black Raspberry and Banana soft serve, so we ordered each on a small cone to themselves. Verdict??? Personally, I liked the Banana soft serve more. It DEFINITELY was banana, based on the taste, and it was very refreshing. Honestly, I'm not a huge banana ice cream fan, but this was really good. As for the Black Raspberry, it was solid, but I felt that it needed to be jussssst a tad sweeter because I didn't think I could taste it all that well. I will say that the serving sizes of the ice creams were huuuuuge, so it was nice to feel like we got our money's worth on the small cones. Also, if you've got kids with you (like us), you can ask for a free cone to split some of the ice cream onto multiple cones, which we do alll of the time everywhere. Definitely a nice little ice cream shop and I love that it's located right off the highway on State Route 36, so if you're traveling in the area, you don't have to go far because all you have to do is literally pull over and park.

The first thing we noticed when we walked in was a very strong bleach smell. I'm all for a place being clean and sanitized, but it was a little overwhelming. That said, the shop itself appeared clean and well maintained. As for the ice cream, I thought it was good and enjoyed what I got. My family had mixed opinions on their selections, but overall I'd say it was decent and worth trying at least once. One complaint was that some of the candy toppings seemed stale, which was a little disappointing. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience by any means, and I'm glad we stopped in and gave it a shot. While the ice cream was good, I'm not sure it's a place I'd specifically go out of my way to visit again.
