A beautiful 50's setting adorns this newly opened creamery right in downtown Highlands. Check it out. A variety of different flavors are available at reasonable prices. This ice cream has a full-bodied fat content, definitely not ice-milk. I delved into a vanilla cone and scarfed it down quickly. Excellent. There are counter seats and tables to eat inside and listen to "oldies" on their jukebox. It's very upbeat here. The owners are very cordial ( husband & wife). They even have a gift area to purchase Knick knacks, candy's al all in a 50's vein. They also have an ice cream truck which I have seen in town selling ice cream. There's a nice vibe here.

Highlands clings to it's past and that's a good thing. Here wedged between the bluffs and the sea you'll find a town that hasn't sold it's soul to the north of the Driscoll bridge crowd. At least not yet. Real stores, bars and restaurants catering to real people. Al H. junior and I were looking to kill a few hours being beached out. The day was as hot and humid as a dog's breath. So the closer to the water the better. Walking Henry Hudson's trail north of town was great if still a bit hot at waters edge. After, we decided on ice cream. Hinlickity's is a bright cheerful gem on the main drag. We ordered outside not realizing there even was an inside and enjoyed our ice cream alfresco. Al H. Jr went for Cherry Vanilla and gave it high marks. I had a root beer float that was fantastic and they gave me the can of root beer to top it off. Nice touch. Service was super and prices seemed reasonable. So next time you're in Highlands save room for ice cream and make it Hinlickity's. I scream for Ice cream. Hinlickities....go!

It was outstanding! We were all in heaven - it was incredible! ( sorry couldn't wait to take a picture- I had to taste first!) I love that we could order a pint size besides regular cup sizes. I also saw some other flavors that sounded amazing. We will definitely be back again soon to try many more flavors when we can! Enjoy

Each flavor of ice cream was also divided where no touching of flavors was done, which was a great idea. The four flavors I had are below. Brown Sugar Cookie Dough - This was better than I remember, and I enjoyed the actual brown sugar ice cream better this time. Key Lime Pie - This was alright. The crumbs were too soft, and the actual lime ice cream overpowered that. Porta - This was a porta ricotta and virgin olive oil sweet cream ice cream. This was solid but could not really taste the olive oil and ricotta presence. It tasted ever so slightly, but the sweet cream flavor was good. Pistachio - This was my favorite flavor tried of the day. I liked the pistachio pieces and the actual cream, which was very fulfilling.

Solid, solid ice cream located RIGHT ON the highway…read more After hitting up the beach on a Saturday afternoon, the sweltering, hot temps called for us to go grab some sweeeet ol' ice cream and, fortunately, Polar Bear was only a few minutes from the beach that we were coming from. We arrived at around 3:30 PM and there was barely a soul here, although there were customers puling off the highway every once in a while to make a purchase. Polar Bear is a strictly outdoor ice cream establishment, meaning they have a few benches to their side, but there is no indoor seating area for customers. The ice cream shop has pictures of ice cream and multiple menus plastered everywhere on their windows, so it's a bit overwhelming when you walk up to them, but they basically serve hard ice cream, soft serve, sundaes, shakes and Italian ices. If you're lost and not sure of what to order, feel free to ask them what their best selling flavors are (LIKE THE DEER IN HEADLIGHTS THAT WE WERE). They told us that their most popular ice creams were the hard Black Raspberry and Banana soft serve, so we ordered each on a small cone to themselves. Verdict??? Personally, I liked the Banana soft serve more. It DEFINITELY was banana, based on the taste, and it was very refreshing. Honestly, I'm not a huge banana ice cream fan, but this was really good. As for the Black Raspberry, it was solid, but I felt that it needed to be jussssst a tad sweeter because I didn't think I could taste it all that well. I will say that the serving sizes of the ice creams were huuuuuge, so it was nice to feel like we got our money's worth on the small cones. Also, if you've got kids with you (like us), you can ask for a free cone to split some of the ice cream onto multiple cones, which we do alll of the time everywhere. Definitely a nice little ice cream shop and I love that it's located right off the highway on State Route 36, so if you're traveling in the area, you don't have to go far because all you have to do is literally pull over and park.

SO GOOD. perfect when you're leaving the beach or before you get to the beach. It's a chill spot, the front of the space is in direct sun, however behind the building is where the shade is and you'll see people eating their ice cream in the back. Service was great, honestly we thought we were going to pay a lot more and ended up just giving extra tip. Highly recommend this spot.

This is the kind of ice cream place I would enjoy taking guests to. A very wide selection of unique flavors (that also seemed to be very generous with add-ins), offers soft serve, frozen yogurt. and hard ice cream, as well as sherbet. The toppings menu is also extensive allowing for tons of customization so everyone can leave happy. Needless to say, when I walked in, I had to ask for some extra time just to take in all my options! The interior is optimized for take-out ice cream, both in the way the queue is setup (using freezers filled with take home pints and treats), but also with the limited seating both inside and outside. Be prepared to enjoy your dessert in your car during a nice summer day. Prices were very fair and I thought the flavors had good taste, though some were tastier than others (so be sure to ask for a sample if you're between options. I tried one that was a bit more artificial than I prefer.) The man who served me during my visit seemed agitated and perhaps overwhelmed so I won't take points off for what seemed like a bad day. Overall would recommend giving them a shot

The main selling point is their homemade Italian ice, but they also offer soft serve ice cream, shakes, hurricanes, root beer floats, and sundaes. What sets their product apart is the fact that they pioneered the concept of dispensing Italian ice through a soft-serve machine. This allows them to produce a consistent, quality product that could be made much faster compared to using the old scoop method. They have your classic flavors like vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry as well as a variety of fruity flavors like cherry and mango. They keep staple ones throughout the year, and rotate seasonal ones weekly. The Long Branch location is conveniently located right across from the Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park. The parking lot is tight. There's plenty of tables outside to enjoy your treats. They are CASH ONLY, but have an ATM machine. Lines can be long, but the employees work quickly and efficiently to keep things moving. We got the Pistachio Italian ice in a small cup ($4.75). Portion size was generous for a small!
