Probably the WORST system possible! Longest line for mediocre ice cream . The quietest "i can help the next group over here.." as kids are screaming running in and out of the line with ice cream cones in hands. No system, from ordering to paying. There's like 4 "servers" trying their best while they have to remember what each group has as people are cutting and coming in the exit. Cross contamination of peanut ice cream dumped into the sprinkles some guy talking to everyone as he grabs gummies out of a tub with his hands. Bad. Oh. P.s Got the wrong order! Thanks Nicholas! I had the pleasure to try some of their small batch ice cream. I was at another one of their locations before, so I knew what to expect. I had a flight of four different flavors. The container that was used was beneficial since none of the ice cream touched one another. At another location, a waffle cone was given, but not here. I wonder if this was because this was a takeout order? Regardless, it did not matter. The four flavors I had are below. All of the ice cream flavors were fulfilling and creamy. PeanutButterpalooza - This was peanut butter ice cream with crushed Oreos and homemade chocolate peanut butter cups. This was definitely my favorite one tried. There was just enough peanut butter here. I was afraid it would be too much, but not at all. The crushed Oreo and peanut butter cups were small enough where it did not require a lot of chewing. Orange Crush - This was a special. It was a sorbet with orange, lemon and lime juice, and Sprite. This was alright. It was definitely refreshing, but I was expecting a little more flavor. Watermelon Chocolate Chunk - This was another special. This was their sweet cream ice cream with fresh watermelon puree and sprinkled with lemon zest and chocolate chunks. I did not know if the chocolate chunks would work here, but it did. I suppose the chocolate chunks signified black seeds? Anyway, it was a nice compliment to the watermelon flavoring incorporated into the sweet cream. Jersey Corn - This was another special flavor. This was a corn puree incorporated into a buttermilk ice cream. This was very tasty. It had a great corn flavor with just enough sweetness. It really worked out well. Will I go back? If you want a place that has flavors that will blow your socks off and a staff that insists that you try them all before you buy one then come here . This is by far some of the best ice cream ive had in years. Not to mention I got a pint and they stack 3 flavors neatly into it . I felt bad because I tried like 10 flavors before I picked and the didnt care at all. The place felt new and clean so I'll definitely be making multiple trips back in the future. This ice cream was insanely good. I tried the brown sugar cookie dough and the peanut butter. The brown sugar has a really delicate flavor, almost maple, but not quite. But oh man, that peanut butter. Probably the best I've ever had. No surprise either that they have huge take how peanut butter pies. I live not close at all to here and already want to go back. I have always loved going to Nicholas Creamery! When they first opened in the Atlantic Highlands, I was not convinced because the ice cream tasty freezer burned, however, this has completely changed! The ice cream here is absolutely delicious and unique. It is all small batch, which makes the special flavors only around for a limited time. The stores are also always busy, however, the staff gets people in and out quickly. I highly recommend the Italian Rainbow Cookie Ice Cream!! It is so delicious with the raspberry ice cream and pieces of Italian rainbow cookie. The Candy Cane Ice Cream is also very tasty. It looks and tastes like it is has a swirl of peppermint along with chocolate chunks. I always look forward to seeing what is new on the menu!! read more

Come on toasted coconut ice cream it was amazing. I was sitting watching the Super Bowl and my wife bought 4 different flavors and I'm enjoying my butter pecan and my wife says try this toasted coconut oh my goodness this is the best ice cream I've ever had come coconut really!!!! I have tried Nicholas Creamery in Fair Haven and also had it at Nicholas Barrel & Rooster. I decided to try the Middletown location to give the creamery another try. For some reason, I'm not a big fan of this place dispute the stellar reviews and long lines. Their flavors sound tasty but a lot of their speciality flavors get sold out quickly. The PeanutButterpalooza is good but I wish it had more Oreos and peanut butter cups. I had a milkshake with the PeanutButterpalooza ice cream and it was okay. I like my milkshakes thick and it wasn't the consistency I was hoping for. Nonetheless, decent ice cream spot. read more

It was National Ice Cream Day and I just had to get some ice cream! I've been seeing a lot about Nicholas Creamery on social media and was glad to learn that they recently opened a new location in Middletown. My mom and I decided to stop by after doing some grocery shopping at the Shoprite across the parking lot. When we arrived, there was a line but nothing crazy. After looking over the flavors, I decided to go with toasted coconut and strawberry shortcake in a waffle bowl. It was delicious! They have a selection of flavors that will always be available, and they have monthly flavors in addition to that. Therefore, you'll have reason to return every month to try something new. The service was good as well. As an ice cream lover, I see myself making pretty frequent visits to Nicholas Creamery. read more

Hooked after our first visit. The flavors are unique and the ice cream is deliciously creamy. I came back shortly after our initial visit to take pints home. I will definitely miss the Santa's Cookies flavor after the holidays, but they have multiple others to take its place. Another favorite is the incredible Bourbon Chocolate Chunk. We also picked up a couple of ice cream pies for Christmas... wow! The Bailey's Chocolate Chunk pie was INSANE! Nicholas Creamery is definitely the new favorite ice cream shop in my house. read more

With several locations along the Jersey Shore, this Middletown location is the newest. Huge, bright, airy, and busy but no seating on the inside which is kinda sad because I wanted to enjoy my ice cream while looking at what other flavors I should get next. The service can be a bit slow when only one person is working there, but they are always willing to let you try multiple flavors when you are trying to decide what to order. They regularly rotate interesting combinations of ice cream with unique ingredients each month. Was craving a hot fudge Sunday the other night after 9pm not too many places deliver to Holmdel so I tried Nicholas. I got a little carried away with the flavors, couldn't decide so I ordered three lol.. I'm actually dairy free so would LOVE some oakmilk options but just went for it. Kids and hubs fell asleep watching a movie so that's a lot of ice cream for just me. Sorry I didn't take any photos, but after one tasting, I realized I didn't want to chance waking anyone in my family with a photo flash because then I may have to share this amazing ice cream ;-) I ordered Coffee Bourbon Chocolate Chunk AMAZING! PeanutButterpalooza WOW! Mint Chocolate Chunk - probably the best I ever had! Just very good, creamy and filled with chocolate chunks..no skimping here!! That said I was really wanting hot fudge so I purchased their homemade hot fudge - it is DELICIOUS however for $3 you are getting a small ketchup style container not even filled that was not enough for one Sunday IMHO.. I would love to be able to order a larger size or do my waistline a disservice a jar that hot fudge up! I will for sure buy it by the jar full, it is so good! I don't eat much in one sitting, so my pints are now hidden behind the kale in our outside freezer so my kids don't find it..they WILL never touch the kale haha - shhhh don't tell! read more

Stopped here after a day at the beach'. Prices are ok, average almost the same as other places. I wanted chocolate ice cream with hot fudge and peanuts. They didn't have peanuts, so I had peanut butter cups instead. Not the same thing but I love peanut butter cups. Their hot fudge was more of a thick dark chocolate, which was ok, but I wouldn't have ordered it again. Milkshake BF ordered he didn't really care for. Daughter had ice cream with wet walnuts and hot fudge. She said it was ok. Did get a small vanilla for the pup, which he enjoyed. Not a big ice cream selection. Inside is very nice.
