I visited this shop in desperate need of a manicure before an event. Stupidly I sat down and let the technician begin to cut my nails, and cuticles without taking stock of the fact none of the implements had been cleaned or disinfected. It was only me and the technician in the shop so it was not busy. I looked around and realized the jars of disinfectant and sterilizers were empty and unused and all the tools were lying around at unkempt stations. At this point, it was too late. To make a long story short, I wish I hadn't been so desperate and paid more attention to the lack of clean tools. My nails have been in terrible shape since my visit. read more

Asked for an ombré refill coffin shape with a manicure,, didn't get any of it. My pedicure nothing of what I had ever experienced in 20 plus years of getting pedicures done. I had to asked to get my cuticles done since I only got my nails trimmed and polished. I also ended up asking to covered the poorly done ombré style with a solid color. On top of that I got charged $120. Not even what I normally pay with designs on my nails and a deluxe pedi!!! Never going back. read more

One of the best mani/pedi of my life - with gel nails, kind service, great color selection, and a perfect pedicure (and tip!) I spent $52. It's tucked away, but worth finding. I didn't have a fantastic experience. I called to make an appointment and was happy when the person said I could come right away. When I arrived, I noticed that the interior was a bit messy and not aesthetically pleasing, but they were able to seat me right away. The selection of sns colors was not great, they had maybe 2-3 neutral colors. While my nails were soaking, another customer came in without an appointment. The man doing my nails did her ENTIRE SET before coming back to take my foil off, leaving me to wait. When he was cleaning my nails he mentioned several times how flimsy my nails are (I'm well aware that they're thin) and even used his finger to purposely bend my nails and "demonstrate". Not only did I find this rude, but since they are thin he could've easily broken my nails. Afterwards, another staff member had finished the pedicure she was giving and took over to do my dip. She was nice and did a good job, but didn't apply a clear base coat which makes me worry about the nails breaking easily later. Overall, my nails came out looking nice and the staff was somewhat conversational, which is why I gave 3 stars. I'll probably look for another salon next time, but I'd come back to Nice Nails in a pinch. read more

I've been coming to this salon for a year now and it's easily the best shop in town. Masks are required, along with hand sanitizing, upon entry. Not only are they clean and friendly, but Ms. Tina does the best acrylic fill-ins I've ever had! I highly recommend coming to this salon. For $22, I received a top-notch pedicure. We have been seeing Tina for a year now and she is wonderful. Once she re-opened during Covid she took every precaution imaginable to protect herself and her clients. Looked around for somewhere to get a pedicure in Charlottesville on a Sunday and this was one of the only places open that had a high rating, and I'm so glad to have found this salon. My toes look so cute and the staff was very pleasant. The Spa Pedicure ($30) was wonderful. Plenty of foot and leg scrubs, moisturizing, paraffin wax and massaging, which I love! It was a a very relaxing hour. It seems as though it is a recently opened, family owned store and I really hope they do well. My only criticisms: 1. the decor is a little boring and 2. It gives me peace of mind when the salon pulls their tools out of sterile packaging and this place doesn't have that, however I saw them cleaning the tools and feel pretty comfortable with the level of hygiene. read more

This place is great! I've been to Nice Nails twice now and both times I've had an excellent experience. Pros: - The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. They offered me a beverage upon sitting to get my nails done - talk about service at a nail salon! - The manicures and pedicures are excellent. The nail technicians don't rush through clients even though there may be people waiting. - The prices are very reasonable ($30 for both mani and pedi; $25 for shellac mani) Cons: - The salon is a little bit difficult to find when you're going there for the first time (hint: it's behind a Taco Bell). - I wish their nail polish selection was a little bit better organized - but that could just be my OCD talking! - As another reviewer commented, the decor is definitely lacking. However, they have multiple TVs and are willing to change it to whatever station you prefer. All in all, I highly recommend this nail salon over any other salon in Charlottesville. read more

This salon is great. Steven took real good care of my nails. I came in for a fill in and he noticed that my acrylic nails were damaged and that the previous salon that I went to in RVA *cough K&T Nails cough * gave me a fungus :(. He took his time taking off the acrylic and was gentle as possible. He also painted my weak nails so they wouldn't look a total hot mess. He told me to let my nails breathe for a few weeks before I get another full set. I will return in about 3 weeks and get another full set. read more

I admit, I've been to a couple different places for convenience sake since I don't live in cville anymore, but Nice Nails remains my favorite salon. Getting my pedi from Tina's mom is simply the best. She takes her time and it's always done perfectly. The only truly relaxing and enjoyable pedi. I'm done with trying anywhere else. It's always disappointing compared to the work they do at Nice Nails. I travel a lot and been to many nail salons. I went to Nice Nail because of other recommendations on Yelp. I look for professional sanitary salons with a relaxing environment. Nice Nails met all my expectations for a regular, not high end, salon. I'd go there again if I lived in Cville. The "mom" did my pedicure. She was careful and did a nice job. I got the regular pedicure and she did a massage and used hot towels. She and her daughter? were very nice. On the TV, they had Food Network, not a trashy soap opera or the news. They work hard even when they are slammed to make sure that every customer is treated with respect and get exactly what they want. I am new to Charlottesville and needed a new nail salon. My pedicure was great and turned out wonderful, but I wish it had lasted longer. I am used to them lasting about an hour. My gel/shellac turned out well, too, but my nails came out too long. However, I think maybe this was a bit my fault for not speaking up and having them trimmed more. Have never been so happy with my nails! They did a fantastic job! I had a badly torn nail and for no extra charge they put some acrylic power on it and it is completely fixed now! Everyone was so friendly and inviting. They really want to make sure you are happy and comfortable, they offered me something to drink, gave me a pillow for my back, and even fixed my pant cuff that was turned up after my pedicure haha.
