Literally the best meal I've had in months. Best food in yucca valley thus far. Service and ambience were also impeccable.

Pastry selection was top tier for breakfast. Chose the Vegetarian Greens Escargot $8 (flaky on the outside, soft on the inside, savory flavor with a hint of sea salt sprinkled on top) and the Earl Grey Mini Gateau $14 (buttercream frosting was light, not too sweet with a cake that was perfectly moist, worth the price). Came for the matcha and selected the seasonal Iced Passion Fruit Matcha $9. Not sweet which I don't mind. There's self serve simple syrup available if you need. Would come back again to try more of the pastries and interested to see what other seasonal matcha they create. Our first experience at Nice Dream was dinner on a Thursday night. Reservation requests are available on their website with seating starting at 6pm. We showed up a little before 6pm with no reservation and were able to get a table. The menu is small and recommend sharing plates. Highly recommend if you like Japanese/seafood. Their bar, Sugar Water, has a unique menu and a creative selection of NA drinks. The whole vibe was perfect for a chill date night. We ordered the Oysters $30 half dozen (interesting basil sorbet to top as desired), Crudo $25 (my personal favorite of the night with a Thai basil coconut cream, 10/10 chefs kiss), a few of the handrolls $7 each (selection of 4, rolled like cigars, loved the yuzu yellowtail and the umeboshi - but you have to love ume to like this), Cod Collar $21 (comes with 3 pieces, buttery, melts in your mouth, watch out for the bones), and the rice hugger $21 (silken tofu and sesame rice, the only vegetarian option). Dessert selection was a raspberry chocolate cake $14 (it was the chef's birthday the night we went, decadent cake with a solid crunch cornflake crust, moist chocolate cake, layer of chocolate mousse and topped with fresh raspberry). The ice cream selection was delicious and would recommend anytime of day. The flavors are all vegan, creamy and yummy - we tried the matcha strawberry and vanilla bean (affogato available). Service was great during breakfast/quick service and dinner/full service. Location was previously four different businesses, incredible how they've transformed the space into a light, airy, open space with tons of natural light. Parking is right behind the building and not large so could see it filling up fast on the weekends. read more

this place is really cute, the interior is stunning! note they don't put sweetener in any of their matcha. they have a simple syrup where you pick up your matcha so you can sweeten it yourself! their matcha was good but i definitely need to add simple syrup in mine since i like sweet matcha. the default has no sweetness whatsoever we also tried the vegan mini cake and that was pretty good! it has berries and cardamom in it! the onigiri was meh, didn't really surprise me. i did not like the mushroom one at all. read more

I've stopped in here a few times and tried their onigiri lunch box set and an almond croissant. The lunch box fills me up just right and is very good. The almond croissant was so good and fresh. The best place about this is the interior. Everything else is very overpriced and overrated. I got a chili yuzu refresher and that drink was so spicy for no reason I had to tone it down with water. I got sick of it and threw it away afterwards. It was also $8 for a spicy lemonade. Their pastries are a little better but they don't heat it up for you and prices are crazy. Some reason there's a huge line so it kind of ruined the aesthetic inside. The workers are very nice and lovely though. read more

Outstanding high desert gem. Have been twice now for dinner and drinks (Sugar Water) and have had an incredible experience both times. The food is adventurous, bold, and absolutely delicious. The addition of the bar Sugar Water, run by Jesse Ditson, adds to this experience and caters to everyone... even those of us who would rather not drink alcohol. It's difficult enough to find one type of fizz on any bar menu these days, but Sugar Water has 4, and they are all incredible. The space is an open, minimal design aesthetic. Can seat small tables (1-2) in the main corridor, or larger groups in the back on beautiful wood bench seating. I can't recommend this place enough. If you are in town it's a must-try. read more

Stopped by on our way to Joshua Tree. Lots of parking in the back, huge interior that is minimal yet beautiful. I think this place also serves food (sit down restaurant) but we only came to togo drinks. Service was fine. Tried the matcha latte with oat milk and hojicha latte with oat milk. Of the two, definitely liked the hojicha better (rich strong flavor) - matcha tasted a little watered down. Drinks are on the smaller end though and price is steep (~16 for two small iced drinks). Would come back though to try their ice cream and other drinks if I were in the area. read more

Also went in and their coffees are very underwhelming. I can make a plane anything at home there's almost no unique options for sweetener so I found that offputting. Coffee selection is exotic n unique beans no cheap stuff. Came here this past weekend to try out Nice Dream with all of the traffic it's been getting on social. The ambiance is cute, but there isn't much too it, it very simple inside, giving LA vibes. The workers are very sweet and I also love that this is a women owned business. What I think could use some tweaking is warming up their pastries when ordered and maybe looking into making in house syrups for their lattes to stand out. There wasn't much variety if you wanted a sweeter coffee other than simple syrup. I also ordered their onigiri entree, it was incredibly overpriced for what it was, 2 onigiri, and baby portions of potato salad, marinated cucumber and tomato for $18. The onigiri was decent with 3 unique options to choose from and I like that they had vegetarian/ could be vegan options (I forgot if any were vegan). I will say their earl grey ice cream in their homemade waffle cone was a 10/10. Definitely will be coming back for that! It was incredible! read more

Nice to have some options now when visiting the desert cities (aside from J Tree Coffee Co.) Ordered a hot latte just to try the basics and it was very well done, the barista knows what he is doing. Also tried the brownie, very good high quality pastry. Place was popping and line was long, at first the line was moving slow but the second barista hopped in and helped move the line so good job there. Lastly the place is very "aesthetic" for the social media crowd so if that's your thing go and get your lil picture as this is a good place for it. Will definitely be back. read more

My partner is Mexican and I'm Asian, we had an unpleasant experience there. Attitude from the woman working back of house making food and unfriendly service from the woman working coffee counter. It was strange that the white customers in line in front of us received friendly conversations but when we got to the front we both felt like we weren't welcome there. Short one word answers and lacked any sort of good customer service. Funny how we left LA to leave that behind and ended up with bigger attitude out in JTree plus almost $6 for a small americano. Only good thing about that whole pretentious place was the barista with the cute mustache who was very fun and friendly. I'm not a huge ice cream person in general and tend to shy away from non-dairy options, but GOOD LORD these people know their way around an ice cream scoop! The kumquat scoop I had was divine, a must-try. I had to come back the next day for a second, and I will be back for a third in one of their fancy ice cream cones. The Ssam pork was insanely delicious (it's a serving for two, but I'd order two separate orders because you'll want to eat it all). On top of all that, they serve coffee into the evening, and it just feels like a space you can sink into and enjoy over and over. Love this place already, and excited for the bar to open. But as soon as I brought in my very friendly and clean, non shedding, 9lb Yorkie on a leash, we were promptly told, " We do not allow dogs..". Beyond that, uber hipster vibe, with the emo music and corney mandatory used book shelf, long hall with mono chrome paint.. Bougie, dorky and boring with mediocre coffee..Granted, these places bother me intrinsically before I even set foot in them, it was not that amazing..Standard LA, waxed mustache, fixed gear bike crowd..You need a mandatory sleeved set of arm tats to enter. read more
