TL;DR: Rude, unprofessional staff at the Lakemont Village location. A solid 1-star experience. I walked in and was immediately greeted by... absolutely no one. Behind the counter stood two fascinating characters: a guy dressed like he just stepped off an 80s Vietnamese karaoke stage, and an older woman sporting a full Dido circa 1999 situation on her head. Icons, both of them. Neither Karaoke Guy nor Dido made any move toward the counter to acknowledge my appointment -- or my existence, really. So I did what any confused customer does: quietly sat down and waited to be noticed, like a lost piece of luggage at baggage claim. Karaoke Guy eventually finished with his client and was clearly, visibly free. Did he call me over? Reader, he did not. I waited 15 minutes, staring into the void, before deciding my time and self-respect were worth more than whatever haircut awaited me. The kids cut went up in price!! It was at $25 and now it's at $30! They're kind of no nonsense and there are signs that say walk-ins welcome but really you're not welcome! Book about a week in advance to get your cuts in -- one lady did a good job but the second one literally was hacking at my little one's hair. I was kinda nervous that she would poke my child since she was so fast at the snipping around her! She did nick my child with the razor and my little one flinched and the hairdresser told my child, oh that didn't hurt. It definitely looked uneven at the end and with the price increase more on par with other more kid friendly salons. read more

Could not understand my hair salonist, does not tell me to tilt my head etc. instead's moves my head around. Had an injury near my hair so I would flinch whenever my hair salonist cut over there, even though it clearly shows my injury ask if I'm scared. Avoid this place at all costs! We had the misfortune of having my au pair and mother take our son here today to see Francine who was not only condescending but almost cruel. At the beginning of the haircut our 1 year old is screaming with the hair dryer. Francine commented that ah he's scared so what does she do at the end of the haircut but use the hair dryer again (until my mom could stop her) and laugh at our child crying again. He was squirmy as 1 year olds are but doesn't watch TV but Francine overruled my mum and au pair and said her kids watch TV so it's fine for him. I arrive home from work and see that she's also given him a horrible haircut. What kind of person cuts children's hair who enjoys seeing them squirm and laughs at it? Ugghh... now I need to stop recommending this place to others as I've had the misfortune of doing and find warm place to take the little people. read more

Francine cut my hair today. Called ahead to see if there was any availability for walk-ins. Was pretty adamant on finding a barber shop; I've been cutting my own hair for the past 10/15 years but was feeling lazy and didn't feel like cutting my hair, so I was a little hesitant. Whoever I spoke with on the phone was great and informed me they could do what I wanted (a high fade) and I couldn't be more happy with the outcome. Francine gave me exactly what I wanted and did an amazing job (and gave me some tips on sight-seeing in the Seattle area). 10/10, would recommend. read more

First impression was not good. I hardly leave bad reviews because I try to see the good. But this experience happened in person, within 10 seconds of entering the building. Sign on the business says "Walk-Ins Welcome!". I walked in with my child for a hair cut. No customers were waiting, there was one stylist. I asked if they cut kids hair. She said yes, but I have to come back at 3 PM. I was there at 10:30AM. There was a lack of business etiquette and as a first time customer (potential), I was definitely put off by her brashness. I don't know why I had to come back, she didn't explain or apologize or try to accommodate. I won't be coming back. read more

My Barber of nearly 30 years decided to hang up her sheers and retire so I had to restart my search. A neighbor recommended Francine at Nice Cuts. She was fine although I need her to cut more off next time. I have a full head of fast growing hair and a monthly cut is needed. This is a nice shop. We moved here a little over a year ago and after trying a few salons in the area for my husband and 2 boys we saw this place near my sons Kumon facility and I'm so glad we stumbled upon it. We've had nearly every stylist and each haircut has been very high quality and we can't justify going anywhere else at this point. My husband is very picky about his haircut and they do such an amazing job and take so much time and care with their cut, they have earned a life long customer in him. My boys hate haircuts. Well, they HATED haircuts. They no longer do. All the women are so good with kids and so sweet to them. No rushing, just patience and kindness. Definitely recommend Nice Cuts. read more

I took my son here for a haircut the other day, after a friend suggested that I should, because he gets his HC there, and he mentioned that they had a special section for kids. I thought, "Why not?". Their kid's cuts are only $15.95, a heck of a lot cheaper than the $24 I was paying at Dooz, even though I think that they do a spectacular job there. The salon is nice and in a nice strip mall in the Lakemont area. There is a Matthew's Thriftway nearby, a spa, a UPS store, a vet & a Starbucks. There were only 2 stylists working when we went, and there weren't any clients in there at the time. Lori cut my son's hair. She did a great job. There is a little nook area for kids, and they get to sit in a cool airplane chair, while watching their choice of several Disney cartoons on a mini TV. They are very accomodating and patient with children - a major bonus! I will definitely go back to get my son's haircut there. I may even try them out and get my hair done there. But, I am pretty loyal to my stylist, Norma, at Salon Bellezza. read more

I have hesitated a month to write this review as I wanted to give my cut a chance. But I have not had a good hair day since Kelly cut my hair. Based on the reviews I thought it would be nice to find a salon so close to home, but this was a huge mistake. I have curly hair and it had been growing and I had been shaping it as best I can since January - 7 months. Kelly said she needed to take some of the bulk out - which was true. But she started hacking away with the thinning sheers on the left side until it is all chopped up, and basically left the right side in longer layers. It isn't even right to left. She took away the style, the length, the body, the shape, and when she showed me the back, she said, "It does look like old lady hair." Great. After waiting 7 months, I end up with hair shorter than its been in decades with no way to fix it. After 4 weeks I'm still embarrassed to be seen, and there is no way to hide short hair. The layers don't connect, it isn't even. and it's stringy and thin now. Maybe she does well with straight hair, but I wouldn't let her touch your curls. I'm back to nipping it here and there trying to get anything to work. It will be months before I will be back to where I was before this haircut. I was scheduled for my professional photo shoot three weeks after the cut, and now it will be months before I can get that done. And the summer nature will be gone. I'll probably have to wait a year....Totally stressed and disappointed. read more

I bring my boys here for haircuts 3 and 4 years old. They always do a pretty great job. Some of the stylists are better than others- but my kids and I both like it better than the kids salon in crossroads. My kids enjoy sitting in the airplane and they always do better here! Great Cut, Wonderful Experience. While visiting I took my 20 months old for a hair cut and he didn't want to get it cut and started to cry. The lovely stylist managed to distract him and make the experience calm and playful. She listened to what we wanted and perform a perfect cut in just 15 minutes. I waited for 38 minutes even though i was next in line. They just talked to the people they were cutting hair and took longer than needed.

My daughter went here today. She explained that she wanted her long hair trimmed but did not want a straight across cut. The stylist rudely said her hair was too thin and cut it straight across. It looks awful. She has had the ends layered before and it looked great. My poor college student now has to go to a decent salon to get what she wants. I've used this salon before and had ok haircuts but I have noticed the stylists don't listen. read more

Horrible service! I went to get my hair cut short and layered before my trip, and my stylist decided that she knew more than my mom and I. She ignored my mom and kept arguing that I supposedly wanted long hair even though I came in for short hair. She ruined my layers with one super short layer and a super long layer. As my mom asked the stylist to cut it the way we wanted, the stylist kept on pulling my hair very aggressively and kept cutting the way she wanted. I would never ever go there again and would recommend that no one else go there either! It was a waste of money and now I have a horrible haircut too. read more

i have always felt that it is the stylist, not the salon that i am loyal to. that being said, i have followed kelly from her stint over at hairmasters to this salon, which she now manages. she is personable and very good at what she does. i can not speak for the other stylists, but if they are working under her they must have similar skills. the price is good, the salon is very pleasing and intimate, and they even cater to children, with kiddie seats and a tv area. if you live up in that area give them a try, you will not be disappointed. fyi, they are in the same shopping center as matthews thriftway. read more

I took my son in yesterday for a haircut. While clearly a majority of the clients are adults they have a nice area in the back with toys and a TV for kids. My son is one and while he doesn't watch TV or get lollipops at home I was fine with the stylist using those things to distract him. The cut was cute and the price (15.95 before tip) was much better than the places that are geared toward kids. She was really patient with him given how squirmy he was (2nd haircut ever) and was very polite, thanking me for helping to distract him. Too bad I can't give them zero stars. They don't listen and they seem to focus on racing as fast as possible. I'll never go there again. For my daughter, Shelley began cutting her hair two inches shorter than requested. Yikes! We asked for collarbone length and would have gotten a bob at the chin, but we caught it, so the end result was okay, but she has some *really* short layers. For me, Tera didn't listen either. it's the worst cut I've ever had. Tera was sloppy and careless. She couldn't tell that one side was a full inch higher than the other and that the back was completely uneven - should be so obvious on longer straight hair. Being in a big hurry, she fixed it using electric cutters to even it out. Never seen that before; seemed like a quick move just to get me out the door. End result is terrible. Considering going somewhere else to get it fixed. So disappointing. Avoid!!! read more

I'm growing my hair out from a pixie cut and have not been happy with the last 2 haircuts I got at another salon, so I came to to Nice Cuts because it was close by. This is the first haircut in quite a while that I have been super happy with. They are very nice, pretty fast and seem to know very well what they are doing. My hair can be a bit difficult to cut and style because it has some strange cowlicks, but the stylist knew just how to handle it to get it to lay nicely. Very happy with this place. And to top it off, the haircut was only $23. Of course I also left a generous tip on top of that because of how happy I am. Very happy I came. read more
