I was first met with Dr. David and then Dr. Daniel took care the rest of my case. My case was 2yrs and a half since due to Covid-19, it was delayed a bit. Dr.Nguyen was recommended to us by a family friend, and i would recommend him to everyone who has any orthodontic needs! he gives free consultations with a quote, so if you're hesitant, get a consultation to meet him and such. he's friendly and professional. he always remembered me and referred to me as, "Miss Lisa, UCSD." i was quoted $2900, including retainers. i never had to pay for anything more than that..not for check-ups, extra items, whatever. i think it was $500 down payment, and $100/month payments after that. my parents were just happy they didn't have to drop 3gs all at once. haha damn my insurance for not covering it. i had a check-up once a month to get my braces tightened, and the little colored bands changed. the office can get really busy, so make sure you make an appt..walk-ins are a bit risky (you risk waiting.. long). they're pretty flexible with appts, and i've had to cancel/reschedule many appts pretty last minute, but they were understanding of that. he has about 7 chairs inside i believe and he rotates from person to person. my regular check-ups probably took about 30mins each time. not too bad. i always felt comfortable in his office around him and his assistants. he can be pretty funny at times, and it was cool because he could relate with my college complaints..always knew when it was midterms, finals, etc..haha guess it helped that his son goes to the same school. WORD OF ADVICE: WEAR YOUR RUBBER BANDS!! he will know if you don't!! lol i remember he was looking at my teeth one time, and asked me if i had been wearing my rubber bands. i'm a college student, and there is no way, i'm carrying around a packet of little rubber bands and pulling/replacing the slimy thing off my brackets every time i eat. the conversation went: "have you been wearing your rubber bands?" "uhm...................yes........." "are you lying?" *laugh* "uhm.......yes." =( haha he was just laughing though and told me not wearing it just means keeping my braces on longer! :( SO WEAR YOUR RUBBER BANDS! hehe also, while discussing medical professions, he admonished me not to be a dentist, and if i wanted to work with teeth, be an ortho. why? "people hate going to the dentist. it's usually painful and unpleasant. however, going to the orthodontist is not dreadful..we give you a beautiful smile. so you're happy!" so true. 26 months later, i'm loving my teeth. he will remind you to brush and floss regularly, so listen! because if you come in for a check up and your teeth are gross, he WILL make you brush and floss right then and there. he REALLY, truly cares about his work and your satisfaction. even when i really really wanted to get my braces off at the 2 yr mark because they looked fine, he said, "your teeth aren't where i want them yet." and although i grudgingly endured 2 extra months, i'm glad for it haha. read more

I just got my braces on 3.5 weeks ago by Dr. Nguyen. So far I am very pleased with how things are going. He is very modern and laughed when my girlfriend told him horror stories about her 6 year period with braces with all those rubber bands and spacers. Lucky for me, no rubber bands and spacers. The price is very reasonable. I have heard of my friends paying twice as much. Dr. Nguyen is a UCLA dental school graduate so as a fellow Bruin I am a bit partial to his educational background =) Last week, I had a flat tire in the morning the same day I had an appointment. I called in and they were happy to schedule me later that day. Even the first day, he was so accommodating and even worked during his lunch break to put my braces on because I told him I had to leave soon. I would recommend Dr. Nguyen to anyone and gave him 5 stars. read more

My wife's experience with Dr Nguyen has been good. Dr Nguyen's orthodontics practice is super busy because he does great work. My wife gets compliments about her smile all the time. However because hes super busy you should expect to wait even when you have an appointment. We recommended Dr Nguyen to my wife's sister. She complained to us that she had to until 8PM for a 3PM appointment. She also stated that Dr Nguyen also ground down her incisors and canines without explaining what he was doing. read more

Wear retainer every day yet my teeth is still effed up. Asked him and he would tell me about how it happens to other patients do. Btw this doctor is super cheap!!! (So damn cheap according to his employees). Charged me like 500 for clear retaining. Other offices only charge 200. I would not recommend him to anyone! read more

I took my daughters to a few orthodontists for consultation. My main concern was teeth extraction because I heard stories about it leaving gap between teeth afterward. Dr. David S. Nguyen reassured me that teeth extraction does not apply to every case. The quoted price was also affordable. It's been long 2 years since the initial consultation. My daughters just had their braces removed without any tooth extracted. They have beautiful smile and both are very happy. Thank you Dr. Nguyen. I highly recommend Dr. David S. Worst Place ever. I think all the people in here writing the review are the people that work there. I was fooled by yelp. I went there and got the worst cleaning ever. The Dentist was suppose to give me a deep cleaning. It was more like lets charge this guy, so I can have some money to go out to the club tonight. read more

If you wanna do braces , go somewhere else! The office is not that clean. The doctor is so cheap to keep it according to OSHA. They never cover up the light switch and after they examine my teeth with that gloves turn off the light and start to spread the germ around. So disappointed after the first several treatments. Doctor would appear very nice at first but when he s done collecting the money, he does not bother to greet you anymore. I was not satisfied with the result at all after 3 yeArs of treatment. He is not a perfectionist and when that comes to cosmetic , problems arise. My teeth was not straight as I expect it to be but he just want to take it out as soon as possible so he can attract more victims and make more money. I love Dr.David Nguyen. My friend recommended that i take my son there to get his braces, after going to several places i was very confused and disappointed. I finally scheduled an appt with for my son. My first impression of the office was so-so. Then I sat down with Dr.David the nicest and most soft spoken man. He is the only doctor that told me that he's gonna start shifting my son's teeth first, nothing mentioned about extraction. Other places wanted to ectract 2 or 3 at least. ive had braces back in high school and i know for a fact that the more you extract the quicker and easier it is for the doctors to work on. Thats when i questioned Dr.David, his response is, extraction is easy, keeping them is hard. why extract now. I knew right then and there that this man has a heart and wasnt out to make a quick few thousand. After 20 minutes of consultation i said lets do it. Now 2 years later my husband and i have braces also, my problem was not waering my retainers after the braces were taken off. Enough said about me. bottom line is ,if your looking for a beautiful smile, but not sure PLEASE consult with Dr.David Nguyen first, its the best thing you can do for yourself and your smile.
