I was looking for a alternation service for awhile. I didn't want to take my clothes to dry cleaning place because I just want an expert to do my clothes! This lady has been very friendly and nice. The work is usually done within a week. The pants hem is around $8. If you want to keep the trim on your jeans, it will bump up to $16. You can find somewhere else to beat the price. Sometimes you may turn to yelp for help in finding good business and sometimes you end up disappointed. Such was the case with coming to Nice A & T. I brought a floor length, formal gown, with train to be altered. I was attending an event abroad and needed the dress brought down to the right size. I also wanted the train of the dress cut off as well. Time was ticking, and I apologized for the short notice in needing the dress in such short notice (a week), but it didn't seem to be a problem. What I needed on the dress was it to be sized down to fit me and I wanted the train cut off. She told me the amount... $70!!!!! to have a side seam taken in and the train cut off and a hem resown! Yikes. I paid it because I really didn't have any other options at this point. This took the price of the dress to an astronomical amount for something I'm only wearing once! Why did I have a dress to big you ask? Because, I was losing weight and I didn't have time to send it back and get the right size. When I picked up the dress a week later it still had the train on it, but worst of all, it was too small! Fortunately it fit OK without my strapless bra underneath, but it was still a little tight, and left me feeling a little inappropriate being bra-less and all. It worked out OK, and now the dress would probably fit fine with the bra since I've lost more weight, but for the cost, I expected it to be done right the first time. Helen is great! I have brought countless alterations from blouses and jeans to almost a dozen nice dresses and gowns to be altered, each with an excellent result. She always asks me when I need it by, and has never missed a deadline. I'm sure her pricing varies depending on the turn-around time you ask for, but I have never found her prices to be unreasonable, and especially for the quality. Once I even brought a beautiful gown that I thought was too small and was hoping to re-design so that it would fit, and she figured out how to zip me in without any alteration. How cool is that? I went to Nice Alterations after reading the reviews. It's a little out of my area but I needed to get a wedding dress and mother's dress altered before my wedding. Helen, the owner was very friendly and helpful. She completed my dress in 2 weeks and didn't charge "an arm and a leg" for it! I picked it up this week and it looks wonderful! I'll be heading back for more alterations! I have to mention this, because I'm little bit of a clean freak, but her store is SO CLEAN! I've seen other places with grime etc, but she keeps her place very well and you feel comfortable trying on clothes there. Even though this place is a bit of a drive for me, it's worth it! I was really debating if I should write a review or not , because I don't want to intentionally harm a business. Then again, I don't want anyone going through what I did either, when it could easily be avoided. My first time in there, I took in a dress just to tighten up the bottom. When i came to pick it up, it was still loose, but the second time around, she tightened it just like how i wanted it. Now this time, I took in a new dress and needed something more than just tightening the bottom. She assured me it was going to turn out just like the way she pinned it, no problem. She assured me because i was worried and hesitant since I was laving to New York two days later. Long story short. it looked absolutely HORRIFIC when i went in to try it on! It honest to God looked like something my little sister sewed up! so unprofessional and sloppy, I can't even explain the disaster it really turned out to be. After panicking, she said "yeah, well it was a lot of hard work" I'm sorry, so why didn't you tell me you couldn't do it in the very beginning instead of saying " no problem" ?? So unreal.. feeling completely helpless I started crying and in the meantime, she made sure to give me one excuse after another. Helen is a gifted seamstress...I have been a customer since she opened..She has altered at least 20 pair of pants for me...Her work is very clean..She is honest and when I brought her my wedding dress she told me not to make the alteration I thought it needed...She could have done the work and taken the money but instead helped me with a quick fix...I only wore the dress for a few hours....It looked great and I saved money...Nothing intimidates her as her skills are solid...She can fix anything! I took in five pairs of pants to be hemmed. Four of them were the stretchy polyester pants with the wide flared legs that are so popular now. This business is not equipped to hem these type of pants - they do not have an industrial serger. Nor was the appropriate thread used for this type of material. I didn't have to pay for the work I was unhappy with and I was reimbursed for the pair of pants that were ruined , however I'm now short a pair of pants I really liked that can't be replaced and have to take three other pair elsewhere to be fixed. read more

I needed two pairs of my seven jeans repaired in the crotch area. I've had these jeans for awhile and im not ready to get rid of them yet. regular wear and tear has caught up to my jeans so I yelped a place in LB to take them to and this is what I found. The lady did a great job mending my jeans and for only $15 per pair. I guess thats standard. The turnaround time was reasonable, I think 3-4 business days.
