UPDATE: Dr. Frank Nguyen and team are #1 in my book. Very caring and personable to ensure his patients get the best possible outcome for their teeth. My wife's teeth turned out perfect. She's happy and I'm happy. My kids are going through the process now, and the care has been excellent. One thing I noticed was the scheduling challenge for Dr. Nguyen when patients come in, there are random issues that affect individual patients, so the amount of care needed per patient varies. This means scheduling may get delayed or be early for later patients. Some requiring more care and some less. However, Dr. Nguyen always puts in 110% effort to ensure his patient understands the procedure and aftercare requirements. The amazing thing is Dr. Nguyen doesn't charge anything extra for the time spent. People damage their retainers, bite down on a hard food n broke a bracket? Dr. Nguyen takes care of it! My brother and I were both patients of Dr. Frank over 20 years ago. We were very happy with our experience and the personal attention he brings with his family to his practice. I happened to just begin reading his reviews; and unfortunately sometimes patients perceptions mask true qualities. I have a feeling that the time complaints that many have remarked - is down to Dr. Frank trying his very best to accommodate all without compromising quality of care. There are probably times when the constant flow of patients can get backed up because of lateness on patient ends that he will try to make work. OR maybe he is spending the time to treat each patients right. Dr. Frank and the whole staff have been absolutely accommodating and very sweet! My sister has been a patient of his for three to four years and the results turned out amazing! He was also very attentive and made sure that she got the best care. I've been a patient of Dr. Frank Hung for a while now, and I appreciate the care I've received. Some people mention long wait times, but it's usually because patients before them arrive late. Dr. Frank always takes the time to ensure each patient receives proper attention. One thing that really sets their office apart is their dedication and enthusiasm. If you call them in the middle of the night, they will still pick up to give you the assistance that you need, or in case of emergency, they are willing to help you if you need to come to the office. I have a friend who went to a different orthodontist, she had her braces on 6 months after me and got if off a year before me, but she had to admit that Dr. Frank did a better job. Purposely messes up, careless, ignores and blames on patients even though at fault for mistakes to encourage patients to come back to get the problems fixed and cost patients even more money- cheating. Says one thing but then does the other. Wish can give zero "0" or negative "-" star review. Acts similar to a car dealership. Acts nice at first to get the patient in their door but then gradually changes to bad over time with quality and service. Just watch as their hospitality and quality of treatment and services significantly declines and goes bad after you finish completing your payment to them. Have found out other patients and on Yelp people complained the same thing. It runs in their business for years now. This isn't something new. Their estimated short treatment time was meant to get customers into their door. But it ends up being more than double the years and on top of that they want to ask for more money from your wallet even though its really up to their treatment duration. Once you are in it takes many more years than expected to finish, perhaps even more than double and more expected costs and repairs on the way; they intend to keep that way. Was disappointed at the results. Had lied and was "dishonest" about how great their treatment was and thought people would fall for it. Easily tricks and deceives many patients who English is not their first language or if they are too quick to judge and do their research. Yelpers who give this place 5 stars are either fake have their friends or family fill it out, or are out of their minds. If you don't believe me, just message those Yelpers who give him a 5 star, they will either answer and cut it short or bluntly, or they will most likely not answer at all. I mean who else would put out a full picture of themselves on Yelp and bragging about their progress to advertise for them? Every time they received a poor rating or review it seems they easily received a "fake 5 star" rebuttal. Everyone can tell and recognize because of the high quality correct spelling and proper grammar written in the reviews. Not too surprised when they taped a Yelp sticker on their glass door to give patients a false hope and false impression that they are good and trustworthy when they are not. Found out other Yelpers have complained about the same experiences. They are notorious for "gaslighting and cardstacking" against their patients and the patient's accompanying relative. In addition, they are infamous for exaggeration and false claims of full or high potential success for your teeth and smile. Very greedy. Would highly NOT recommend. This place is definitely a "no, no." Don't listen to them. Really think and research, ask around twice about this place. Don't go to this place! In all honesty, SAVE your hard earned money, research, and find elsewhere where it is cheaper, more responsible, and better for orthodontics. This office is a knock off, rip off, bad, will lie to get you into their procedure and encourage you that they are doing things right when they are not, will gaslight you to make you feel you are the patient in the wrong even they are wrong and cheat, and will scam you at the end of your orthodontics completion stage! I am so glad I chose to come to Dr.Frank's office for my braces. My teeth look BEAUTIFUL and I have Dr.Frank Nguyen and Co Trang to thank for that! They do the absolute most to give you recommendations, advice, reminders, rescheduling, fixing, and everything to help you get your teeth back in shape and straight and beautiful!! I had an overbite, misaligned teeth, overcrowded teeth, and various other problems. Other orthodontists also said my teeth were a little tricky! I did not have any dentistry connections, and they recommended me several great dentists nearby that take my insurance. The dentist I chose from their recommendations is the dentist I still go to now! I admit, I was late many times due to my own busy schedule, and they always try to make sure everyone still gets to see Dr.Frank that day. I really appreciated that because I was always so embarrassed and I had a lot going on in my life, and they were so understanding and communicative back to me. I know a lot of the other reviews talk about him being late, but I rarely experienced that because his office is always moving! Dr.Frank sees adults and kids, and from my own experience, they have to tweak their schedules sometimes to make sure that when you, yourself, and others are late, they can still try to help everyone. I've never waited that long either. ‍ They are realllly accommodating of people's schedules. I think their office is open in the evenings and on the weekends for that purpose! Go to a different place! After getting my braces removed, I went to my dentist for a regular cleaning. The dentist noticed there was 1 gap between my teeth on the left side and a second gap between my teeth on the right side. She asked, "Why are there gaps if you had braces? It must be frustrating when food gets stuck in those gaps." I realized that Frank made a retainer where the wires were inserted between my teeth, causing these gaps. Every time I eat, food gets stuck and it's a pain! I'm so mad and disappointed that Frank doesn't care about his patients. We paid him around $2,500 yet he didn't do his job correctly. I am so pleased to write this review for Dr Frank! I took my daughter in 4+ years ago when she was in 5th grade as her teeth were beyond crooked! They were so bad that I thought it would take a miracle for anyone to work on these teeth especially since her mouth was so small and she is afraid of pain. I did my research and read the reviews... I remember my cousins having the worst teeth ever and I asked my aunt who fixed their teeth and she said the best ortho named Dr Frank. So I was like OK let me take my chances because this place is always so busy with patients. We made our consultation and I immediately knew Dr Frank was extremely meticulous about every detail and took great pride in his work. Fast forward to 4+ years later, my daughter is now an 8th grader without braces and her teeth look AMAZING!! When I tell you this doctor can create magic, I'm not exaggerating. The funniest part is my daughter loved her visits with Dr Frank, she would come into the car laughing with a funny story she listened to while in his office. She actually told me she is going to miss seeing Dr Frank and Mrs Stephanie because the office always had something entertaining going on. Sometimes the wait times were longer but I always reminded her that it's because Dr Frank was so diligent with his work and he would never shortcut her appointment until his work was perfect. I would say go into that office with a positive attitude as you'll thank Dr Frank later when you are taking a selfie with the prettiest teeth. And I'm paying for your braces and dropping you off so suck it up and thank me and him later, lol. To Future and Potential Patients, I went for braces and recently got them off after two years of work with Doctor Frank and Co Trang (the desk receptionist). They are extremely kind people who only want the absolute best for their patients. Co Trang is very communicative with your appointment time and I had no issues with the waiting or planning a date. I usually received updates and reminders from Co Trang through texts a day before my appointment, making it very convenient for my schedule. If I also had any complications, Co Trang would usually respond in a short manner of time to answer questions or plan an emergency appointment. Dr. Frank, although a perfectionist at heart, was very approachable and would answer any questions I had about my teeth. He fixed the cross bite I had plus kept me up-to-date with my teeth lining every visit. I personally know two other people who went to his office for braces work who turned out with perfect teeth, including my own. My only suggestion would be for him to slow down and take breaks as he seems to take on a lot of patients at once. I highly recommend this place if you're still considering! I had a severe underbite issue. every other orthodontist told me I needed surgery, but I was too nervous about getting one. Luckily I found Dr. Frank and he told me I didn't need to get surgery. After 5 years of procedures, I am really happy with my results. I am finally comfortable enough to show my smile. Dr. Frank and his wife are great people. They really know how to take care of you. My son has very severe under bite. My son was with other Orthodontist for almost 2 years. But no sign of improvement. The other orthodontist suggest surgery. I have no choice of looking for a new orthodontist. We came to Dr Frank Hung with reference from my friend. My son was 16 at that time. He is little late in the window to brace his teeth. However Dr Frank doesn't mind to take the my son case. After first year, I already see significant different. After 2 years we already see the end of the long journey. Not even mention my son doesn't loose any teeth from extraction. With additional 6 months fine tune, my son's teeth was completely straight. Me and my wife are all very please with final result. STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM THIS PLACE is the only advice I have for you... This place is incompetent and if I had children, I would never take them here.... He will do anything to help you get them straight teeth at no extra cost. At first I thought that was great because he is passionate about what he does. However, this is my second visit and I think I might die coming here because he seems to have bipolar and a case of OCD that he refuses to acknowledge. He would seat my niece on the chair, then walk away to do another task, then comes back, stands up, and leaves AGAIN! I had braces when I was younger, and it was a breezy procedure; within one week, I had my brackets, pillars, and wires on. My first visit here observing my niece: it took this orthodontist 2 hours and a half to insert "spacers". They are literally tiny rubber bands! When I got spacers, it took my American orthodontist less than 5 minutes..... Today is my second visit: I am going on a 3 hours and a half (AND STILL CURRENTLY WAITING AS I AM WRITING THIS) for this doctor to insert four brackets! Not even pillars or anything. Just brackets! And she is scheduled for pillars NEXT VISIT. I mean, he even said, "I am going to take my time. It will take until midnight if I want to." (Is that even fucken legal?! How did he get his doctorate or certificate to run such a medical service for the general public in MILPITAS?) Even after I had complained about the wait, his wife said, "quality work requires time." This is not quality work anymore, but LACK of work. There is no excuse to take this long to fit and adjust 4 damn brackets when he had the teeth moldings to prep before hand with. They aren't overly busy either! It's literally just my niece and one other patient in the entire office! I have no idea why the hell my sister insisted on this orthodontist for her daughter (my niece) just because it was "affordable" and his recommendations would meant my niece did not need to pull out any teeth. But let me tell you right now: IT IS NOT WORTH THE PRICE. Also, as the auntie... Of course I would want to be there for my niece all the way because she is scared and nervous. I feel so bad for my niece! This place is operated by a married couple: wife is the receptionist and husband is the doctor. They only have one assistant. And also, their hours of operation is only Sunday's, Tuesday's, and Thursday's so there is no flexibility in scheduling appointments. Furthermore, I have gotten nothing but a bunch of tangents from them and up-selling. The doctor is always pushing me to get "chin" surgery because my teeth is a bit "flared" since I didn't wore retainers as instructed back when I had braces. He threatened me and said "nothing would be able to help me." And that the only solution for me was if I gave him $25,000 for the surgery, he would probably fix it for me. Little did he know, i have consulted at least 5-7 different dentists AND orthodontists and they all agreed Invisalign would fix my problem. This place is not only unorganized, dysfunctional, BUT A HUGE SCAM. I still can't believe that my niece is tied down to this place for the next 3 years. Lord, be my saviour. read more

I would give him one star but he made my teeth straight so I can't hate. This is my second time having braces cuz I was a bad kid and didn't wear my retainers. My first orthodontist was much much better (Dr. Thien Bui in San Jose) but I couldn't go back to him because my insurance changed. Every time I made an appointment here I would have to take into account the wait time. Even if they told me it was a 15 minute appointment it would actually be 30-45 minutes. Sometimes they'll see that I've been sitting outside waiting for a while so they tell me to go inside and sit only to have to wait more. He's really busy and has a lot of patients. He's probably taking on more patients a day than he can handle hence the long wait time. The assistants are really nice and gentle. Seeing as how the doctor himself is usually running around between 3 patients he's a little rushed and rough when he works on you. The doctor and staff are really nice though. They have TVs in the waiting room and in the back (helps time pass). So if you have the time to spare and don't mind long waits this place will do. read more

I would give Dr. Nguyen 5 stars if it were based solely on how my teeth turned out. I've had my braces off about 5 years and they still look perfect! He's been scheduling me for an annual check up since I've had the braces off. However, customer service here isn't the greatest. Once, the receptionist scheduled me for the 5 min check up on a day they were closed and they didn't even call to let me know until I called back to reschedule the appointment. When I came in for the appointment, he had the wrong file and was about to make a mold of my teeth until I told him that I was just there for him to check my progress with the retainers. The wait before I go inside, regardless of if it's a quick check up or a long procedure, would easily be at least an 1-2 hours because his receptionist overbooks people. Don't get too excited when they call your name though, you wait about another 20 mins once you're inside before he seats you onto a chair. He would be juggling about 3 patients at the same time. Knowing this, I thought it might be better to book the very first appointment, but Dr. Nguyen comes about an hour late anyway. TIP: If you're scheduled for an appointment, block off about 4 hours in your schedule. read more

My daughter was getting her braces done here but stopped seeing him for a few years, currently looking for another ortho. Dr. Nguyen can have a bopilar personality in my book. He can be nice to a patient and rude or mean to another. He can get stressed out. I think its because he schedules too many patients in one day and in one time slot. It looks good business wise but means long unneccessary long waits for his patients. I have waited an hour and more for my daughter to be seen. Ridiculous?? Just rude!! He doesnt have good time management and estimates on how long a patient may take. I started my orthodontics when i was with 6th .. and it basically went on to the month before i started college. I was referred to him as he was first starting out, and i can't blame the guy for taking so long (im sure he learned a LOT from my case). I was the typical thumb-sucking-overbite child, who had the head gear, retainer expansions, the whole works. His wife, Trang, is super nice too, she always knew i was bored watching lame kids movie and let me help her with paperwork. I know it sounds like child labor, but it was far more exciting knowing that i was helping type up the bill for patients =P A few years later, i went back to get minor detail work and a permanent retainer. I had braces on for 6months and it costs me $1,000 ... and this is "special discounted" price [i don't really believe it - probably because i was cash only now] the work was so minor, that i was able to figure out my own therapy. He's more experienced, more busy, and probably making so much money he doesn't have to work as often as he did about 12 years ago. Takes a lot of insurance, but medical has to get certain approval before treatment can be done. read more

Scheduling: 5/5 The new lady at the front desk will do her best to accommodate to your schedule. In addition, calling off an appointment and rescheduling is easy. Getting worked on: 2/5 There is truth to the older reviews. However, the procedure times now average 30-50 mins, and at worst it would take two hours. It was worst before, because there was a different lady in front of the desk that would talk to herself and would have arguments with the orthodontist. She is gone now, and there is a nicer person at the front desk that if friendly and welcoming. Some of the extended wait times are because someone comes in with an emergency like an ache due to a wire that comes apart, or Outcome of the Procedure: 5/5 I had crooked teeth with two fangs sticking out, and teeth overlapping at the bottom. I was one of the bad cases, so my procedure took 6 years. It should have been 5 years, but I messed up by not wearing my rubber bands religiously and it extended the procedure. I've had my braces done here for about 3 years, and my teeth turned out great. I was referred to Dr. Frank, and referrals get you a "discount", so be sure to mention you've been referred by someone if you were! Like others said, he is a perfectionist, and about 10 of my friends and family members have done their teeth here, so we definitely know what to expect from Dr. Frank. There is only him and one assistant working with him while a few patients are in at the same time, so be prepared to wait when you get there. Parents should get ready to shop around while they wait, and others should bring some homework or prepare videos to watch on their phone. Personally, the wait wasn't inconvenient to me since I always came after work or school, so be sure to clear a couple hours that day for the appointment. Dr. Frank's wife is the receptionist and she reaches patients through text since she gives you her personal number; she will remind you of appointments, answer any questions, etc., so the communication with them is always clear. Their service is affordable at an average ~$4700 compared to many others and I also got my braces off a lot sooner than I thought, so it was definitely worth the price and quality! Great orthodontist! My teeth turned out great and I am very happy with the results. The only complaint I have is with the wait time. However, the office has been sincerely working on their promptness and this is no longer an issue. The staff are friendly and nice and Dr. Frank is a joy to be around.
