Wens the 9th I took my son there from college he was sick, went to a few drs where his school is. The Dr on call was rude to us was asking why we're not at his primary Dr? I explained the situation, she then was saying well he doesn't look sick? I then said well he has been sick for 4 days etc. He was not asking for pain meds he was asking for antibiotics because he was afraid he was making people sick at his school. She refused, she stated "well we can run test but the won't be back for 3-5 days. Then walked out? We have never had a bad experience but I hope to not have her again. read more

I've gone to this clinic for as long as I can remember, even before they changed the name to NextCare Urgent Care. Every time I try to call and ask questions nobody answers the phones, I have sat on the phone waiting for an hour before, and then I drove up to the building and there was only one person there. The ladies at the reception desk are quite rude with their tone, and how the present themselves, as if they hate their job. And then most of the time when I go in there to get something checked they don't tell me anything useful that I don't already know, and they don't help with what I could do to better my situation. We were in Abilene visiting family and started feeling sick - went into the clinic first thing in the morning (got there at 8:05) to get our toddler tested for the flu and found out he had it. The check In was very easy and streamlined, the waiting room was neat and clean, and the nurse and nurse practitioner we saw were both very friendly and professional. After we found out our toddler had the flu they checked us in quickly and swabbed us. They also let us know that many places in the city were out of children's tamiflu so they wrote us a paper prescription so we could try different places (which was helpful since we had to try three places before we found a pharmacy that had it - HEB). All around quality service and good visit - we were out within an hour (which included checking two additional patients in and testing us for flu as well). UPDATE: I never received a bill for this service and instead the first notification I received was a collections letter from a collection agency with a fairly small amount owed. I called the collection company and paid the balance right away but I'm still annoyed that this went to collections instead of me just getting a normal bill from the original provider. Lowered rating to 3 stars for this - still 5 star service. read more

I have been taking my family to this location for several years. Each time I go they bill me for $60.oo When we go back the second time we have a $30.00 credit. I am not worried particularly about the extra $30.00 as much as I just want to know if $60.00 is the correct amount to be billed or a consistent mistake. I finally decided to question this to the administrator, and her reply was that is what it shows in the system and you can take it up with billing "So I Did." Unfortunately the support center is no help either. I got transferred to several different people's v-mail with messages stating, "I will contact you back in 2 to 3 business days." I can understand the local staff might not be equipped to answer all my questions, however, I can not understand the un-willingness to help resolve it and be courteous as well. The medical industry is a must have, however, in a walk in clinic world, they are a dime a dozen. This should be managed as a customer driven business and focus on returning clients. I spent 3 hours in the clinic with my 14mo running a high fever. All I wanted was a flu swab. She was missdiagnosed with an ear infection. The service was poor and my gut told me to still attend the pediatrician appointment the following day. Where her dr swabbed and she tested positive for flu and her ears were completely clear. The staff needs to be properly trained on how to swab for flu and strep. Will never return to this clinic again. read more

Very dissatisfied! Dr sent my daughter to ER for IV fluids & antibiotics when they could have provided that service there. So I wound up paying $30 copay for the clinic & $60 copay for ER. I should have just went to the ER in the first place. The whole point in going to the clinic was for the lower copay. Also, Dr said my daughter couldn't get a Rocephin shot since she is allergic to pediazole, however that is what she got IV & was fine. If the Dr isn't going to treat you, why are they taking in patients? They just did labs. I expected treatment, not just being sent to ER. I went to Dr J's on a Saturday morning around 9am. It was not crowded and we were seen quickly. I saw Dr. Beasley and he was very polite, listened to what I had to say, ordered my medicine and sent me on my way (which is great because he wasn't wasting my time and vice versa). Wife took my son in and they diagnosed Strep and gave prescription. got to Drug Store and it was not called in so we had to wait until the next day. It was in pill form and he can't swallow pills. I could not call the local office, had to go thru main national office and local office would never answer. We called 5 times. Each time they called back it did half a ring and hung up. I took my daughter in to be seen after she had been running a fever for a few days. She was very sick! We checked in online and were able to wait at home. They sent me a text when it was time to go to the clinic. The Dr. J's team did blood work and X-rays. She was diagnosed with Strep and Mono. She got 2 shots and several prescriptions called into the pharmacy. We were out in about an hour. It was faster then being seen in the ER and they were open on the weekend, Bonus! read more

I found myself in need of medical care for a rather embarrassing malady last week and went to Dr. J's. I am a self-proclaimed wimp when it comes to pain, but luckily for me PA Jeff Adkins and Nurse Brandy Tims were there to treat me. They were both EXTREMELY patient and consoling. Jeff did a phenomenal job patching me up and provided follow-up care. This clinic has been consistently convenient and efficient. They are still tweaking their check-in process and I had to wait a while, but it was worth it. It is most certainly better than waiting in an ER, or having to wait on a scheduled appointment with my regular physician. Needless to say, I highly recommend them. read more

The staff was great but they need to follow thru with what they say they are going to do. Went in for an injury. Did X-rays and sent me for a CT scan. Told me they would let me know the results in a couple of hours. I have called several times but they are too busy to take my calls. I am now going on day 2 and still in pain. Did not want to go the ER that's why I went here first but now I may have to just to get some relief. Still have not received any results. Beyond ridiculous. I know it's that time of year when everyone is sick and coming in. My husband came in for a Staph infection on his arm. He checked in at 3:50pm and waited. He was taken in to a room at 6pm. He waited for almost an hour before being seen. He was checked out and told they were going to give him a shot of antibiotic and increase the frequency of his other prescriptions. He is still waiting for his shot and it's 8:00pm. I'm sorry, but no one should ever have to be in a walk in clinic for over 4 hours. This is beyond ridiculous... it's not like the ER where a stroke or MI patient may come in after you and needs to be seen so you get put on the back burner. We will definitely find another walk in clinic if we ever need one read more

I've been twice to the one here in Abilene on Catclaw. The first time I went it was ok. I was so sick that I was just grateful to get some care. They prescribed me antibiotics, steroids & a cough medicine (which was good for nothing). A couple of days later I got a check up phone call asking how I was feeling. I mentioned to them that the cough medicine was not helping at all. The response I got was "ok, well if you want to you can come in and get checked out again." No I don't want to go back in and pay AGAIN, I want them to call in another prescription that is going to help my cough. So needless to say the check up phone call was useless. The 2nd time I went in I felt like I had a cold. I was tested for strep and it came back negative but the NP told me that she was going to treat it as strep because that's what it looked like to her. So they give me a choice of whether I want a a shot of penicillin or just pills. I debated and decided to take the injection. They ask the normal questions, if I'm allergic to any medications, specially penicillin. After answering no, they leave and come back with my "penicillin shot". The nurse injects me and says she will be back in 15 mins to make sure I don't have a bad reaction to it. So I'm there waiting with my husband and I feel fine. About 5 mins pass by and I start to feel light headed. I move over to the seat next to my husband and he hugs onto me. My heart begans to race, I'm getting hot/cold chills & feeling queasy. The room keeps darkening. The next thing I know I'm waking up to my husband panicking to get a nurse in the room and I have no recollection of where I am. I had completely passed out. The NP walked in and says "well we got a fainter" and laughs about it. She says that I need to lie down or just sit back in the chair. By this time the nurse who initially administered the shot walks in concerned and offers to help move me over to the bed. Together her and my husband help me. The NP continues to jokingly say that I saw the needle and was so scared of the shot that I passed out. For one, I NEVER saw the needle. Two, I'm not deathly afraid of them that I would pass out after seeing one. She then tells me "honey next time you see a doctor you really need to warn them that you are VERY afraid of shots and may even pass out so they can be prepared". I didn't know what to say seeing that I was barely gaining consciousness back, I'm was confused. So they leave me and say they'll be back to check on me. I ask my husband what happened and he goes one to explain how I passed out. Once the NP comes back in I ask if this is a side effect from taking penicillin, she responds with "we didn't give you penicillin we gave you rocephin". Excuse me!!! Then why did y'all say several times PENICILLIN??? I believe that they tried to brush it under the rug because they realized they had messed up. They asked me more than once if I was allergic to penicillin. I was under the impression I was being given penicillin. Anyways, she told me that it was not a side effect from the medication. I later googled it and many people have passed out/fainted after being given Rocephin. The NP took no responsibility for that mistake and lack of communication. She made me feel like an idiot and made it seem like it was my fault for passing out, I had either locked my knees, I stopped breathing because I was scared, etc. Nothing was her fault. I can guarantee you that I have NEVER ONCE reacted that way to shots. I will never go back to this office again. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Oh and I forgot to mention I was there for 3 hours before I could leave. read more

The doctor didn't listen to a word I said. Just zoomed in, didn't tell me her name, asked a couple of questions and issued flu and strep tests. Could have told her it wasn't those after I'd looked at google. I wanted to ask her about the severe rib pain I was having after days of coughing. She asked if I wanted a chest x-ray. I don't know, should I? What will that tell us? You're the doctor here. Turned out to be yet another hour spent there with no conclusive results. Gave me a couple of shots and antibiotics. Sure, why not. They practically had me out the door when I asked, yet again, how to manage the pain. Advil and lots of water. Really. Advil! Why didn't I think of that?? As if I'm so dumb I had to go to a doctor to tell me to take Advil. Like I hadn't been doing that for three days already. She tacked on some extra strength ibuprofen to my antibiotics prescription. Still no tips, ribs still hurt like hell every time I cough or breath or move. Guess I'll go with my first instinct and rest and wait it out. I got better health care when I lived in Eastern Europe.
