Scheduled an appt at 12:00, arrived at 11:45. Didn't see the nurse practitioner until 1:40. I've been miserable for three days with fever, body aches, headache, sore throat, and I am certain that I have pink eye (goopy, crusted, pink left eye) She didn't read my sheet prior to talking to me. (I had mentioned I had asthma, she then asked if I had asthma.) She looked in my ears and throat and and eye and said that I had allergies but maybe picked up something viral? Or maybe something bacterial? (Literally, she was saying it could be viral or bacterial or allergies- but she honestly didn't know) and then prescribed me amoxicillin. She left the room and I just cried out of anger. Don't go here. read more

Giving the place a one is a mis justice. Went in for a pain that I pretty much told the doctor/PA what was wrong. She wants to tell my my upper stomach rib pain is my bra ( I had a stretchy sports bra on) but, my regular bra is too small and I need to loose some weight ( menopause and life) I tried to tell her my medical history. She went to fatty liver to loose weight wear loose bra. Dont waste your money or your insurance on this place. Oh, can I mention that she looked like she was high. Nurse checked me in and did vitals was pleasant. The nurse that gave me a imflammatory shot looked like she hated life. I can not believe Baylor put their name anywhere on this place. read more

Upon first meeting Dr. Patel, I was with my boyfriend who had been suffering EXTREME chest pains (10 out of 10) which had landed him at this hospital in the ER which then landed him in Cardiology. Dr. Patel rolled his eyes and cut me off mid sentence when I tried explaining that my boyfriend's intensifying pain was happening even when laying down at rest or in his sleep. My boyfriend was upset with the disrespectful manner Dr. Patel treated me but I told my boyfriend as long as he was diagnosed and treated properly, I could ignore bad bedside manner. Dr. Patel did a series of tests (to which he either failed to review or simply dismissed which is negligence) because after my boyfriend's final appointment--in which Dr. Patel told us both that his heart was 'perfectly fine' and that it must be 'musculoskeletal'--he ended up in an ER in Michigan for a kidney stone and by pure dumb luck, they did a CT scan and discovered a mass the size of a softball on HIS HEART!! He could have died because of Dr. Patel's negligence had this massive cyst not been discovered at this ER in Michigan. I wouldn't recommend a rodent be treated by Dr. Patel, let alone a human being. I wouldn't give him 1 star if it was upset to me. read more

I made an appt time for 12:30pm and was not seen by a doctor until 3pm. Front desk was very unorganized. Doctor and nurse seemed very overwhelmed. I hate to leave a bad review but this was very upsetting visit. I was told that the walk ins would that were before my appt time would be seen first.... 2hrs later I finally was put in a room, took a covid and strep test before had to was the allotted time only to be told that the covid test timed out and I would have to retest.... so 15mins later.... test was negative and had a sinus infection (like I had assumed) shot and Rx later I finally got released 3.5hr later. Very frustrating appointment, especially when you're trying to get back to the office. Will no be returning to this location. read more

I have had bad experiences before at this clinic, but today was by far the worse experience I have had at in a medical setting. It will be worth the drive next time to go to a different urgent care on the other side of town. The nurse was trying to get through her preliminary script so quickly that she literally cut me off when I was describing what was wrong. She was taking the initial intake notes on her HAND with a pen! When she came back to do swabs for some tests, she didn't say a thing beforehand other than "nose." and "throat." There was no explanation or prep for what was about to happen. No warning. She said 2 words and was out of the room again in under 20 seconds, and she swabbed my nose so aggressively I actually blew a bit of blood out after she left. I've had covid and strep tests before and those were by far the most painful I've ever had. And to top things off, I had to get a steroid shot, and when the nurse came back in the room, she said "shot in the hip" and just stared at me as if that was supposed to mean something to me. So I just stared back, and again she said "shot in the hip," and I said, "... yes... am I supposed to do something?". And she said "stand up and face the wall," and she gave the shot and had the bandaid on in literally under 5 seconds, without saying another word. Regardless of whether I am comfortable with shots or doctors visits, a nurse should treat each patient respectfully and help make them comfortable and understand what is going on. It's been an hour since I left the clinic and the shot site still hurts. She was the least professional nurse I have ever interacted with. Her bedside manner was non existent, and I got progressively more frustrated every time she came in the room. It was the lowest quality of care I have ever received at a clinic. I understand the need to move quickly, but moving quickly does not equate to the unprofessional, rude, and boarderline degrading behavior she displayed. The doctor was very nice and had a good bedside manner. He was helpful. But he also cut me off before I was able to finish describing my symptoms. He said we'd just run some tests. Which would have been fine, until he came back in, told me the tests were negative, and proceeded to ask me what medicine I wanted to take rather than attempting to better diagnose the situation or ask about my symptoms again. I thought about asking to see a medical license. I have been sick for 5 days and missed classes this morning to figure out what I have or what I can take for it. And I left this clinic feeling baffled at the unprofessional behavior there and without any real idea of what I might be sick with or what medicine will be best. This is not the first negative experience I have had at this clinic and I will not be coming back. read more

WORST PLACE EVER!!!!!!!! I went here for a DOT exam. The nurses didnt know how to fill out paperwork for the exam and kept asking me how to fill it out. Then the dr saw me. She didnt know the paperwork either and had to ask someone else for help. The dr told me to get a sleep apnea test done and come back. I got the machine the same day. Took the test that night and returned the machine. Dr J office received the results on Thursday. I called Thursday, Saturday and twice on Monday to try to get the results of my test. Finally I went in on Tuesday and waited for 3 hours for the nurse to tell me that the results in her file were unreadable (which means no one even attempted to read them) (glad i wasted my time calling). She got a new set of results and the PA there told me that no one could read the results except the dr and she was at the south side location (apparently faxing the test and getting them read was to much work for him to do). After a couple of attempts at tracking down the dr. I just decided to get a new dr and start the process from scratch. Dr J is a complete waste of time read more

So as of now I have been sitting here in the exam room with my wife for over an hour with an empty waiting room, waiting on a doctor who was "going to be in, in just a minute..." as one nurse said about 45 minutes ago... it sounds like the people are just walking around and having a good time outside. This is supposed to be a medical practice. It honestly feels like a bad customer service experience. The wife just poked her head out the door and got a "just a minute, your next." I went to the one on the south side. The wait was horrible. Three hours. I went in for nausea and diarrhea. Told her my throat DID NOT HURT but she wanted to test me for strep anyway. Shocker, the strep test was negative. And she still insisted that I had strep throat. A bunch of quacks. I could hear them in the hallway talking about forgetting patients in the rooms and laughing on the phone for their personal phone calls. Had a friend who went in yesterday for chest congestion and they told her she pulled a chest muscle. She went to Abilene Diagnostic today and was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. Stay far away from here. Don't waste your time or money and don't risk your health. read more

If I could give zero stars I would! My mother who is an older woman came here for her thumb that she sliced off while cooking at the Fair and they turned her away! She explained that she wasn't employed with the fair she was an independent contractor and wasn't getting paid from the actual fair, but they told her since she already told them she was there they couldn't help her until she provided paper work from the fair it's self. They wouldn't even give her chance to explain. She has her own insurance but they didn't care! These people are down right horrible. I hate to write a bad review on anyone because we all have bad days, however, I feel it is important for administration to know what happened today. We have used Dr J's Express many times and have never had any real issues. Today was totally wrong. When my grandchild had a high fever and was aching my daughter in law took her to be seen. The person at the front desk was very rude and made it very clear that she was not interested in a small child with a fever. When we presented our insurance information the lady said they didn't take the insurance. My daughter in law explained that the insurance was the same that had been used many times at Dr J's. The lady at the desk stated whoever took it before was wrong and if we wanted to pay $350.00 we could be seen. Otherwise we could go somewhere else. I know how difficult it is to find the right person who has the customer service skills to build your business. This lady is not the person to put as your first person seen by the public! She is rude and disrespectful. I hope this clinic realizes that people do have choices in medical care. Dr J's is no longer our clinic when we need care. read more

I was extremely ill and went in on a weekend 2 hours before close time. Much to my surprise I was seen within 15 minutes and was diagnosed with bronchitis. They have me appropriate meds and a breathing treatment. The staff could not have been nicer or more efficient and professional. I highly recommend this facility. read more

If I could give less than 1 star, I would. Today I was checked in by the lady at the front desk who I had to prompt to acknowledge my presence. I paid almost 500 dollars to have a clumsy nurse get right and left mixed up while doing an eye exam, have a doctor who reeked of cigarette smoke shine a flashlight into my eye, and have my prescription sent to the wrong pharmacy. Seriously people, I recommend driving to Fort Worth to see a Care Now (I promise this is not a CareNow advertisement) and stopping by Tejas De Brazil on the way back. Side note: you pay and extra $100 for their services just because it's an "urgent" care facility. read more

The poorest excuse for medical care in Abilene and the surrounding area, run by sub-standard nurse practitioners (all trained in sub-standard local nursing programs) and physician assistants. The medical assistants present with rude and condescending attitudes, lacking even the basic skills of properly taking a blood pressure. When the nurse practitioner finally showed up for a 10-minute consultation, she was very pleasant, knowledgeable, helpful, and responsive. Still, if we had known the wait was 3 hours for a non-emergency, we would have made an appointment with our PCP. Dr. J needs to provide a ballpark estimate of wait time. Terrible. My college age child went here for what seems like bronchitis with a secondary issue of an ear infection. Child told doctor about phlegm and cough. Doctor got distracted by the ear. Gave child meds for ear and no meds for what seems like bronchitis. (she feels rattling in her lungs) I told child do not leave without medication for your phlegm. She has to ask receptionist what she's suppose to take for her cough. Doctor hears and steps around the corner and asks, "Do you want cough medicine?" What the heck????? Then the cough medicine she prescribes is an allergy cough medicine, not even an expectorant. What kind of doctor is this???? Very frustrating for a mother with a child going to university far away. read more

All the sudden (like since Sunday and today is Wednesday) change their tricare g-lines and will NOT see tricare PRIME patients without a referral already on file. They used to just see the patient and call the PCM for a backdated referral. Receptionist blames this on tricare, which is BS because I called tricare and was told they had not changed their policies. Well so now I have to wait two more days to see my pcm's PA because that's their next sick appt. So...what's the point of the walk in clinic again? read more

I took my daughter to the south location on Friday evening, she was quickly assessed and we were told they did not have any rapid covid swabs but we could go first thing to the northside location on Saturday and we would be seen and she would be tested. We were the first to be in the doors and waited 25 min to go to a room. When she had vitals assessed the medical assistant took a swab and did a single swipe just inside the base of each nostril and said, "ok, all done"- when I told her that I felt the test was not done properly, ie the depth of insertion of the swab and the time spent on each nostril was not adequate, she responded with " nope- this is how we do it here". I waited with my daughter for the NP to come in. When James Lantrip, FNP-C came into the exam room I inquired as to the testing protocol for the office's rapid swabs. He stated we just do a quick "whoop, whoop" on each nostril- you dont need to go deep on these anterior nares swabs." I told him that I too perform rapid swabs and, per CDC guidance, swab each nares for a minimum of 10 seconds at a 1/2 inch depth. I asked to see the policy/protocol for their swabs and came back with the operating instructions for the machine that runs the tests. I asked to have the test re-done appropriately and he informed me that he would not do a second test as they did not have enough for that. He then stepped within 3 feet of me, I was sitting, and asked me why I was making such a big deal out of this- the first test was negative, what was the big deal. I informed him that I too am a healthcare provider and the big deal was that I work with patients daily, I have older parents, my husband had been home waiting on results from his tests because his leadership had taken ill with Covid and mainly it was a big deal with the accuracy of diagnosis starts with the appropriate methods for testing. I then asked him for his name and to please step away from me because he was making me feel uneasy so close to me. He then said " I will test her again"- but it will take a few minutes. The medical assistant came back and I placed my daughter on the exam table, placed her head at a 70 degree angle and assisted the MA with the placement of the swab and counted to 10 on each side. The MA stated " i hate keeping it in there that long because it burns"- I told her I knew it burned, but vaccinations hurt and we don't not put the needle into someone's arm because it hurts- its a waste of a test if its not done correctly. Thankfully the second test also came back negative- I told my daughter that I was sorry she had to have a second test done but sometimes the right way is not always the easy way. As a nurse I was severely disappointed in the testing done and the attitude of "this is how we do it here"- just because that is how it is done there does not mean that is the correct way. I urge you to not go here for your testing- accurate diagnosis depends on appropriate testing. We left at 9:40am after arriving at 8am. read more

If I could give it less than one star I would. This place was terrible. My husband waited 2 hours to be seen only to see someone for a whole 15 minutes. He got a steroid shot and an antibiotic shot and it cost him 653.00 dollars. You must enjoy taking advantage of people. You suck. read more
