I absolutely love the University Club of Palo Alto!…read more For me, the highlight is the pool. I love swimming here--there's an excellent lap pool where you can sign up for lanes, a diving board for extra fun, and plenty of open swim time for families. Kids can't get enough of the swim team, and there's even a shaded baby pool that's perfect for infants and toddlers. The tennis courts are top of the line, whether you're playing just for fun or competitively. The tennis pros are fantastic, and the whole tennis community here is great. Pickleball is also really taking off--it's always fun and social. The gym has everything you could want: Peloton bikes, free weights, machines, and a full range of classes. Beyond fitness, people also gather for bridge, mahjong, and other activities, so there's something for everyone. The food is excellent, the full bar is always a plus, and the events calendar is packed. There are great adult activities (salsa dancing, wine tasting, Aloha nights) and plenty for kids too (kids' night out, movie night, and more). Best of all, the community is welcoming and friendly. It's easy to meet people here, and many members end up making lifelong friends. All around, it's a wonderful club--I can't recommend it enough!

It's such a fun way to stay active, and we love that we can play together as a family. The courts are in a beautiful setting, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. We have lighted dedicated courts that are the best in the valley. Several members of our club have won major pickleball tournaments nationally. Our men's elite team has won the peninsula league the last two sessions. Beyond the game itself, one of the best parts has been meeting new friends--we've connected with such a welcoming group of people. It's been the perfect mix of exercise, community, and family time in a great environment.

Got here at 11am . I love the flowers and the fresh green grass …read more THere's lots of trees . The golfers must not be that great because there's golf balls all over the place. The golf carts are excellent. They have an excellent restaurant here too. The people that work here are great and there's even a guard at the gate. It's in a great location. It's right across from my old high school so it definitely brings back memories. This place is very well maintained. Both bathrooms are very nice and clean with full facilities. They have a tennis court, very clean very nice. They have a swimming pool. They even have a cottage to stay in overnight. This place is very huge. I very much suggest trying out the golf carts. The parking here is very nice. I love the outlook. WEll..its pretty much private too Great place for kids tho.

Note: PRIVATE CLUB…read more Extremely exclusive country club and golf course. Totally old school. Really enjoyed the atmosphere in the men's grill and on the course. The food was fantastic and the beer was cold. I had the Cobb salad and a couple of the guys I was with had Crab Louie's. All were perfect. As for the course...the NCGA usually gets course ratings correct...usually. This is one of those rare exceptions where I think they got it wrong. The course plays a 127 rating from the tips. However, numerous tight approaches, tight tee shots and tricky greens make me think this deserves a 130 or higher. Two holes, with 18 being the most memorable, require a staggering straight tee shot to get to the corner of a 90 degree dog leg. The distance is extremely deceiving as much of the course plays uphill and into the wind. Don't think that 386 yards is going to be an easy green in regulation out here. Be EXTREMELY careful on 15 and 16. A slice on either of these holes will launch a ball directly onto Alameda de las Pulgas, and possibly require you to buy a new windshield. The course, like most country clubs, is in phenomenal shape. The ponds are real, with blooming lily pads and everything. Much different than the concrete-lined, blue toilet water filled munis like Sunnyvale and Shoreline. Great practice facility and nice staff make it a must play if you have the opportunity to get out here.

It is really not well known outside of a few circles. Yet it has been on of the most influential presence in technology since the dawn of Silicon valley Do you have an Iphone? Every used SIRI? Yep that was one of SRI's inventions. I doubt there is not a single person that has not been touched by their research or invention. its truly staggering: Inject printers, The Mouse (yes that mouse), LCD's, hypertext, initial work into AI, tons of DARPA stuff that may or may not ever see the light of day, drug development........ (I could spend days but you get the drift. As with everything its not always sunshine. Rumors persist that the center did participate in the infamous CIA remote viewing and mind-control experiments aka MKULTRA. My connection to the center is both personal and circumstantial. Growing up in the Silicon Valley, many of our neighbors were scientists and researchers there and for two summers I worked in the Credit Union as a teller there. The only other thing is the primary architecture of the main building: Offfph its rough. Its as if Joseph Stalin kidnapped Joseph Eichler and forced him to build a mid century modern gulag.
