At 68, I wanted to stay in shape but was completely unschooled. Perfect timing. Facilities are well maintained. Staff welcoming. And my hundreds of questions answered. And Hannah. Yes, I ache, but am absolutely feeling physically better, improved balance too. Thank you.

Each trainer has a different style, but their energy is high and commitment to personal and achievable improvement is clearly evident. Hannah was the first personal trainer I met at the SB location -- I cannot say enough wonderful things about her -- I love her style, energy, and commitment to healthy living. We talk about many things health-related, including diet, nutrition, lifestyle, and the importance of self care. She encourages me at my most fatigued, and delivers great results. Kolja is another member of my training team, and his encouragement, patience, and enthusiasm peppered with lots of humor makes the routines enjoyable and achievable. His military service is inspirational and a great part of why he is so dedicated to carrying out all "missions" for his gym clients. Kyle is the third of my favorites at the SB location -- his friendliness, patience with clients of all abilities, enthusiasm, humor, and love for good country music to work out by are all a part of his unique style. He knows when to push and when to encourage in a creative individualized way. Even though all of my trainers are young enough to be my children, I respect their knowledge, enthusiasm, patience, concern, and most of all, their professionalism. I couldn't have asked for a better team to make me feel comfortable and to help me get into a healthier lifestyle. Love them!! Highly recommend them all!

When he invited me to finally attend a 6am class at Bikram Yoga of Bayport, I thought no sweat! But I would find out later, sweat I would be doing. I got there with my gym partner at about 5:30am and the parking lot was completely empty. We met up with another gym friend, Sheri, who also got there early. Rachel the instructor, also a friend, invited us in and went over the pricing. Rachel also gave great tips and advice since it was my first time. I walked into the room and couldn't believe how hot it was. I thought it must have been a mistake! It was hotter inside that room then it was outside. My friend, Sheri, was already in the room comfortable and stretching. She recommended that I do it also to get use to the heat and so I did. Class didn't even start and I was sweating. The guy that invited me, Chris, showed up and he looked like a professional. I didn't know what attire to wear or even what I was doing. I asked him a lot of questions before class started and he explained everything well, as he always does. Finally Rachel walked in and class started. Let me say I have worked out in a gym for years. I have never sweated in a gym like I did 20 minutes in that class. The class we were taking is called "Vinyasa," it is more complete movements and is continuous. Rachel was a wonderful instructor, she had a calming tone in her voice and explained every movement so carefully. Rachel had a very soft music on that helped me focus along with the breathing exercises she went over. I almost gave up many times but I pushed on. I knew every drop of sweat that hit my Mat was weakness leaving my body. I made it through 90 precent of the class before fatigue finally came over me. I was done. I laid there happy to get as fair as I did. After class everyone walks out the room when they were ready, no rush, you can leave when you feel satisfied. There is a locker room you can use or just leave. I stayed behind to talk with my friends. I felt incredible after the class. My body felt loose and I had no tightness in my back. Once again I expressed my excitement for the class and for Rachel as a instructor. I plan to make this a regular part of my life. I hope everyone incorporates Yoga to their lives.

CrossFit Kryptonite has been a big part of my life since my mom opened it in 2010. Back then,…read moreCrossFit was still in its early days and hadn't yet gained the momentum is has now. Since then, however, I've had the pleasure of watching my mom build this gym -- its identity and its community -- into something much larger and more important than just "a building where people do fitness." Today, CrossFit Kryptonite is unlike all the other CrossFit gyms I've visited, dropped in at and even worked at. My mom has built it and turned it into a truly unique, supportive place with many expert coaches on staff who share her passion for changing lives. I've personally witnessed many transformative stories -- people of all ages and from various walks of life who have lost weight, improved their health, gotten stronger, gained self-esteem, and found lasting friendship. As my mom's daughter, I've also been in the unique position to witness all the hard work my mom does behind the scenes. Beyond the day-to-day administrative work, she is always looking for new ways to improve her knowledge as a coach and enhance the membership experience. Examples include: taking additional fitness certifications; planning fun, social events outside the gym; planning events to raise money for local or charitable causes; partnering with other community venues like the LT Michael P. Murphy Navy SEAL Museum to participate in annual fitness events; partnering with other local gyms for members to enjoy friendly competition; navigating uncertainties like the COVID-19 pandemic; organizing official CrossFit events like the annual Open. The list goes on. On a more personal note, being part of the CrossFit Kryptonite community since its infancy motivated me to pursue health and fitness more seriously in my own life. I prioritized living more healthily in how I move and in what I eat. I was also inspired to become a coach myself so that I could help others on their own fitness journeys. I received my Level 1, and even after moving outside of Long Island for a few years, the first thing I did (besides finding a place to live) was find a CrossFit gym to train and coach at. To sum it all up, CrossFit Kryptonite is truly a labor of love, and its specialness is incomparable, palpable, and contagious. If you're reading this and are wondering whether "CrossFit" is right for you, I assure you it's so much more than whatever preconceived reputation it has gained in popular culture. Whether you're a teenager or a senior citizen, whether you're a seasoned athlete or have physical limitations, I guarantee there is no better place to get healthy -- and surprise yourself in the process -- than CrossFit Kryptonite.

It may have been larger, but they had so many machines that were in disrepair that you can't even count those. - Convenient hours. What's more convenient than 24/7, even on holidays? - Quality of equipment. On one hand, its very satisfying working out with a simple barbell or dumbbell, and this gym has plenty of those. I believe they have three different sets of dumbbells and more barbells than I've seen in larger, commercial gyms. On the other hand, this place also has unique equipment that I've not seen elsewhere if you're looking for a bigger variety of a workout. The only downside is the cost -- its definitely more expensive than commercial gyms, but I honestly believe you get what you paid for here. The convenience of hours, the quality of equipment, and the helpfulness and friendliness of the people make it well worth it.
