I had major reconstructive surgery of my shoulder for the 2nd. time. The 1st. time I went to a chain PT facility, and received good care but was left to work on myself with various exercises for most of my sessions. Jeff was the total opposite, he provided me with 1 on 1 therapy. His method got me back on the road to recovery much quicker. OPINION: I called NPT to ask about a very confusing email after having completed all the insurance and medical paperwork 2 weeks ago (electronically) and received today a subsequent email, almost 2 weeks later, right before the first appointment seeking all kinds of additional insurance authorizations. Had a very confusing phone conversation with someone who "refused to give me his name" and would not let us talk to someone higher up IE a manager, so I just cancelled my first therapy session. "Refused to give his name".....we just wanted his name so we had it documented that we cancelled so we wouldn't be mistakenly billed. I've never encountered such unprofessionalism in a medical related facility. He would not give me a simple answer about any of the details on the email and made it sound like we had to pay up to $220 up front "when we were told initially that Medicare would cover at least the first visit. I came to Newton Physical Therapy in December, having known Angela for many years and that she is SO respected in the community, as a person and as a PT. I loved her treatments...but at that time she didn't take my insurance, so I started seeing her partner, Jeff Goldman. Both are wonderful practitioners, and approach the patient with kindness, compassion and care. One is never rushed...in fact, Jeff has spent well beyond the usual 50 minutes with me. He really cares about the patient and their needs. The space is totally amazing, calming and definitely spa like. Clean, friendly, soothing. Very healing and positive! Jeff's treatment room has a big window, so I lay there at times, watching the snow fall and a Cardinal perch on a tree. My problem is Plantar Fasciitis. Jeff has been using ultrasound and soothing massage on my foot, with many suggestions on exercises at home. I listen to soft music, relax on the bed, and usually fall asleep! The sessions are amazing, and I look forward to them. My foot is definitely on the mend. Veronica, the receptionist, is also very accommodating. She has given me her cell phone in the event I need to reschedule an appt., and she is very helpful and kind. read more

After making some progress in PT for a frozen shoulder, It was recommended that myofascial therapy might help to get my shoulder to the next level. In my opinion, Jeff Goldman of Newton Physical Therapy is by far the best. I love working with him. He helped me through a very difficult time when I had several compression fractures of the spine and I was concerned that the pain would never get better. At this point, the pain is minimal and my range of motion is greatly increased. More recently, he is helping me recover from a fracture of my collar bone due to a fall. Much to my surprise, he identified that the underlying cause was a balance problem, so we have been working both on the fracture -- I have regained nearly full range of motion -- and on my balance. In addition, Jeff has helped me with episodes of neck pain. My wife also sees Jeff for physical therapy and loves working with him as much as I do. Jeff also greatly helped a friend I had referred. I know that Jeff enjoys working with patients after trauma or surgery and likes helping people with neck and shoulder problems. He is trained in cranio-sacral and myofascial release techniques. It's hard to describe how relaxed and free of pain I feel after Jeff treats me using these techniques. It's a little like a massage, but much better and the effects carry over, making it easier for me to do my daily stretching regimen. read more

I went for craniosacral PT. What a disappointment. From meeting the owner, evaluation with PT and receptionist, it was a bad experience. My PT said if I completely relax then the therapy works best. He was barking at me during the evaluation, interesting way to make me relax. The only good is my PT was knowledgeable and gave good feedback during the evaluation. read more

I had been to a PT facility for my rotator cuff injury. After numerous weeks of cookie-cutter therapy, I felt I was getting nowhere. A friend suggested that I try Jeff's practice. What a difference! Jeff developed a plan that was unique to my situation and one that worked. He also spent a lot more time than the 12 minutes allotted at the other facility. Jeff worked the injured area instead of just having me go through a bunch of exercises and standing back and watching like my other therapist did. I have been to 3 PT centers in the Back Bay over the last 5 years and each one is a factory production line - 10-15 mins with the actual therapist and the remainder of the time with interns or ice etc. I wanted a Physical Therapist that was engaged for the time that I was at the facility. Having suffered from chronic back pain and a serious shoulder injury, I have seen about half a dozen physical therapists in the Boston area during the past several years. I can say, without hesitation, that Jeff Goldman at Newton Physical Therapy is the best of the them. What sets him apart from the others is that, in addition to giving you stretching and strengthening exercises, he works wonders with his skills in manual/massage therapy. I used to pay out of pocket for an MT, but working with Jeff, I no longer have the need to do that. He takes care of all of my tight and strained muscles. And he can relax your entire body.
