But every day I feel grateful for the fact that the Elliot Lewis Center is in my area and that their unbelievable staff is in my corner. I've been a patient of Dr. Joshua Katz since I was first diagnosed with MS, and he's everything you want a doctor to be. He's one of the most intelligent people I know, but he's not afraid to say "I don't know" and to consult with colleagues and literature to get more information for you. As I write this, he's in Stockholm at the ECTRIMS congress to learn about the latest MS research and developments, and he's sharing updates with ELC patients on their Facebook page. He's hosted live online Q&As for patients, and it seems that whenever I email him with a question or concern, I have a response within an hour or two--even on weekends. And Dr. Katz is just one member of the team at the ELC! I've never met a patient of Dr. Ellen Lathi who isn't breathlessly praising her performance. I had my first appointment with Dr. Kenneth Gorson last week for intramuscular Botox injections, and I was so impressed by his ability to understand and address my movement issues. Their other staff members--from the reception desk to the infusion room--are so helpful and efficient that I actually enjoy days spent there hooked up to an IV. I'd be remiss not to mention the contributions of Jackson and Tiger, the very sweet ELC service dogs/mascots. I've met people who drive hours to get their treatment at the Elliot Lewis Center. A one stop place which offers patients everything from diagnosis to treatment, pain management and specialized physical therapy is is staffed by award winning physicians and nurses who are friendly and welcoming. This Wellesley facility is beautiful and if hospitalization is ever warranted the doctors on staff have admitting privileges to a variety of area hospitals. No one should ever have to endure MS. It's a horrible and often unforgiving disease. Having said that, there's no place better to seek out help.

My appointment was at 1 pm, so I figured I wouldn't get called in until 1:30 as I'm used to waiting awhile at doctor's offices (they never seem to run on time). However, I was shocked when the doctor called me in right at 1! He asked me detailed questions regarding my headaches and also had reviewed the questionnaire that I was mailed before my appointment. He also did an exam to test my motor skills. The doctor was amazing. He seemed to really care about my issues and how we were going to solve them. The entire appointment was about 45 minutes, which is pretty long considering most doctors spend 10 minutes with you and send you on your way. I have a follow up in 2 months and can't wait to go back!

I have been a patient of Dr Girgis' for ~3 years. I have suffered from migraines most of my life…read more When they began to increase in frequency and severity, I needed help. I already exhausted most if not all of the neurologists focused at least in part on migraines at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, in one way or another (they retired, left the practice, wanted to use strong meds, etc.), and I needed a fresh look at what was going on. I wanted to avoid the hassle of going into Boston for appointments if I could. Dr Girgis has helped me immeasurably. She gets me. She knows I don't like to take meds but she knows I need them. She recommends specific drugs based on my lifestyle. She checks how I am faring with side effects and informs me of new options at each visit. She knows there are better options for me but respects my preferences. I would suggest one reason Dr Girgis runs late is that she is very thorough and personable. She delves into my life in a gentle but prodding way. She has an unexpected sense of humor and a calm, easy manner. There is very little time between patients--barely enough to make some verbal notes/recordings of her previous patient. Therefore, I don't know how it is that she can remember--and inquire about--some of the details of my personal life, such as how my teenage son is doing in school. Dr Girgis knows the main stressors that exacerbate my migraines and she asks about each of them. She allows me to open up and share--like she has *all* the time in the world. What doctor does this?! Dr Girgis is compassionate, kind, and generous with her time. I would rather have a doctor with this disposition than one who rushes you out the door. And the thing is, Dr Girgis probably pays for it in the end. She's probably at work until 8:00 pm catching up on the paperwork she should have been doing had she kept each appointment to the prescribed health insurance/hospital allotment of what, 15 minutes? Schedule fewer patients per day, you say? I don't think she can. I'm not sure, but I think in order to maintain hospital privileges, doctors must maintain a daily or weekly patient quota. The more patients she is compelled to see, the less time she *should* have per patient. Yet she doesn't. This is why I don't mind that she runs late. If she is overly thorough with someone else, if she is trying to explore some root causes that aren't overtly manifest, that's a good thing. Yes, Dr Girgis is frequently late for appointments. I schedule extra time and if needed, I use it to catch up on emails or do crossword puzzles. I also know that if I run late (which I have), she won't give me a hard time. :) Unlike many "conventional" doctors, Dr Girgis doesn't flinch (too much :) when I mention chiropractic or acupuncture. In fact, she has shared with me treatments that are more holistic in nature that worked for other patients--because she wants me to feel better--and preferably not just as a Band-Aid, but to get to the root of the problem as much as possible so my migraines will, if possible, go away. I am an avid reader of reviews. I read some negative reviews before I decided to make an appointment with Dr Girgis. I was on the fence. But I read some very positive things about her as well and I chose to go with the positive. I am very thankful I did.

When we contacted them about the situation, they were completely unhelpful and would not even offer a reasonable self-pay discount despite the lack of upfront disclosure. Had we known the visit would cost $650, we would never have proceeded. The lack of transparency and unwillingness to work with us afterward completely destroyed our trust in this practice. Dr. LoVerme listens to what the patient wants. And I have found him to be very patient centered. I had as nose job, a face lift focused on the lower half of the face, and a laser peel 18 years ago. Originally the nose job was cosmetic, but when he opened me up it flipped over to medical because my septum was shaped like a "C" When the hospital found out and I was paying for it, and it was now classified as "Medical" they tried to up the hospital fee by 900%. Dr. LoVerme told them to back off and leave me alone, they grumbled about but they did. Dr. LoVerme has since installed a fully equipped certified surgical suite in his office so there is no hospital fee for most of the procedures he performs. Thereby saving the patient a lot of money. I have since had an upper face lift, liposuction and two laser peels I am going in to have my brow reshaped. He could have very easily agreed with me about doing a procedure that would have cost me about $4-5,000. Instead he recommended using a less invasive and considerably less expensive procedure to inject a permanent filler to achieve the same results.

The first time in they gave me an assessment to determine my strength and flexibility. They then gave me some stretches to do as well as exercises to strengthen my abs. It seems weaknesses in my body were putting more stress on my back. I do the exercises twice a week and the stretches everyday. They provide the routine. It is up to me to put in the time to make my back feel better. I would recommend ATI if anyone is looking for a physical therapist especially if the have back trouble.
