We're…read moreso glad that there's a school close to us that not only teaches kids academics but also teaches them moral lessons which I think is the most important. The staff here are great too. They do care about the kids and are very attentive to their emotional and academic needs. One thing that is amazing as well is that it's a small school so the staff knows pretty much all of the children. Ms. Angie and Mrs. Baeckel greet each kid by name and their families during drop offs and pick ups every single day- rain or shine. We really appreciate the extra care and attention because you know they're safe having two pairs of watchful eyes to see who comes in and out of the property. My son also is learning so well. His reading I think is advanced and they teach them how to write in cursive at a young age too. He's made lots of friends and even the parents know each other and are connected as well. I don't think you will get that in a big/public school. We are happy that we enrolled our child here. We will stay for a while.

We did a lot of research before deciding where to begin kindergarten, and toured several schools, hoping to find one that stood out above the rest. The King's Academy is it. I can't imagine a better place for an excellent Christian education in the Reno/Sparks area. The staff are wonderful. The teachers are so amazing, experienced, loving, compassionate, and we really can feel how much they truly care for our son. He is having the most wonderful experience. I can honestly say that since my son began attending The King's Academy, he has come into his own genuine, authentic faith. He loves God, he knows God better, he asks so many great questions. Best of all, he tells me all the time now "I love you so much Mom, but I love God more." It is such a comforting feeling to have the utmost confidence in both the quality of the academics, as well as the spiritual environment of the school. We love the smaller class sizes and greater level of attention that the teachers are able to pay to each student, and therefore their enhanced ability to tailor the education to each child's unique needs. I attend chapel every week (parents and families are always welcome to join the students there) and absolutely love it! I love seeing the children having a great time and also receiving such quality, Christ-centered Biblical teaching. It's wonderful. There have been so many times that, unprompted, my son will ask me "Mom, can I please keep going to King's Academy all the way to 8th grade? I love it there!" Bible is a regular subject and there are daily prayers and a weekly chapel where all grades gather for worship and then to listen to an age-appropriate Biblical message. It's comforting knowing that our values and beliefs are being reinforced at school by like-minded adults, most of whom see their job at Excel as a ministry. Another aspect that I really appreciate is the small class sizes. There is only one class per grade, so my daughter has been with the same group of kids throughout her school career. This has allowed her to form deeper friendships than she would be able to having to start over with a new class each year and it also means I am familiar with most of her classmates and their parents so I know who she is hanging out with and what kind of homes they are from. Each teacher so far has had his or her own teaching style and personality, but I have no complaints about any of them. They have all been very loving and caring in their own way. Excel is non-Denominational and not sponsored by any particular church or denomination, so there is a diverse mix of students and teachers who attend many different Christian churches in the area. While it's a small school, it is still relatively ethnically diverse for its size. I expected that there would be a trade off with diversity when we chose to send our daughter there, but have been pleasantly surprised that she has never been the only person of color in her class and our interracial family has never once felt out of place or discriminated against in the slightest. Academically, I have no complaints. The curriculum (besides Bible, obviously) seems pretty standard and similar to what you'd find in a public school. My daughter is on part with her grade level. Yes, it is a private school. Yes, you have to pay money for something that the government is willing to give you for "free," but it's money well spent, in my opinion. We aren't wealthy. We are a working class family struggling to get by, but we are happy to go without many things to know that our children are growing up being taught about the redeeming love of Christ at the place they spend most of their waking hours because at the end of the day that's what will give them the best shot at being happy in life.

We called over 10 times and sent multiple emails and literally get a different BS explanation every time or no answer at all. They don't have an answering machine or service and are super unresponsive. I'm officially reporting them to the better business bureau for refusing to refund the money they owe us. Not great - you're getting what you pay for. This is definitely more of a daycare than a school, there was no curriculum and no emphasis on learning that I witnessed at all. Also, the staff is super inconsistent on logging activity in the app. Most days, I had no idea if he had a nap or eaten normally. The facility is very dirty, even the director's office when you walk in is filthy. They keep all of the children in one tiny room most of the time with very little to engage them. Our two-year-old was kept with much younger children and picked up terrible habbits in the one month he was there including hitting and screaming. The staff would always say he had a good day, but half the time he was crying when we picked him up which is not his usual demeanor. My husband also witnessed a much older child (belonging to a staff member) hitting smaller children on the very first drop off day and no one interviened. The tuition is low and they include snacks and meals, but they aren't nutritions options I would choose at home

They do group kids by level of learning even within a class. Our 2nd grader was in a class of 36 kids, with two teachers, but it was way large. They did again tiered learning, so he did great too. In addition to purchasing equipment, the PTA also supports several programs that are not offered or paid for through the district, such as Foss kits, Kindness Enrichment programs and art. The Hunsberger art program offers all students opportunities to learn about artists and different mediums such as watercolors, oil pastels, acrylics as well as ceramic art. I love seeing all of the hallways lined with the art the kids have created! Not only is the school itself great, but the parents, many of whom volunteer their time on a regular basis are fantastic and always willing to help each other and look out for each others children. Between both of my kids, they have gone there for over 6 years. The owners and staff have been amazing. Life changed and they adapted to the changes with no questions asked; all they said was "anything you need, communicate." All of the teachers through out our years with the goose have been exceptional, Ms Tima has and always will be my children's favorite teacher ever. She got into a bad accident last year visiting her family, and my children cried, they wanted to make sure Ms. Tima was okay. WE are SO blessed she is still here with us today. My daughter LOVED helping Tima with anything in the classroom and Tima knew she could always count on my daughter to help her. Ms Tori, you may feel like you're not recognized enough, but you ARE. I am not sure where they find these teachers and principals but it's definitely not people that should be certified to teach or work with children. They are all thugs. They are also a scam of a school. The school does not count as education and therefore if your child is transferred somewhere else they will repeat the grade because this is not a legitimate institution.
