I went to Spanish springs high school for my freshman and sophomore year. The teachers are great…read moreand only a few of them will disappoint you. The students are fine and you're likely to make some friends. The education is good and they have plenty of extra curriculum classes. And overall you will get what the average student is looking for in a school.

From a senior who has been here since the lockdown, don't send your kid to this school. Sure, I…read morehave had wonderful teachers here, but it honestly sucks. If you complain to the principal over serious issues, he doesn't care, he doesn't even respond to you. There was a code yellow like last year and it should've been a code red cause people brought weapons on property and they wanted to cover it up. Other students and myself are the only reason parents got a call the NEXT day about it. There's too many details to share here. Even today I am terrified when the announcements sound comes over the speakers if it is at a random time. Many people at our school are aware of the stoners and vapers and they don't do anything about it. It's so bad that you can't go into certain bathrooms because those are the 'smoke spots'. As I did mention, I have had some wonderful teachers, so it just sucks that I have to complain about the teachers here as well. For this one teacher, in context (which doesn't make it much better) we talked about humanistic psychology and a criticism of it is that they are over accepting. Basically the teacher stated that "so if you ___ 4 year olds." Yeah, we all looked at each other disgusted like "Did he really say that? That's disgusting." That same teacher has also made very rude and snarky remarks to students. A very very controlling person. Some days I don't wanna go to school because I'm scared he'll make remarks about me and humiliate me in front of the class, he's already done it to me. After lunch, I think based on my experience, the upstairs bathrooms are a hit or miss because they are either locked all class period during 3rd period or open after 20 minutes. So if you really need to use it, Aunt Flo has arrived, or whatever, you're screwed until the end of the day if you're lucky enough to get to a bathroom. Honestly, if you want better education for your kids: go somewhere else. Maybe even go to Finland. Overall, can't wait to graduate because this has been a rollercoaster if the rollercoaster was barely on the track, had no seatbelts, and was on fire. Edit: Another thing, they just told us a week ago that we could be staying till 4:30pm for the exam, which would be ok, IF they told us like a month ago. So now the teacher basically said to just take that day off from work, for students who work, when it is probably too late to say anything. But the problem is, I have an off campus that day (which I worked s hard to get) and the purpose for that off campus is to help my dad because of medical issues. They literally told me I can't do anything about it so now I have to figure out 1. How to get home 2. Where to put my stuff 3. How my dad will get the help he needs.

Any parents with kids at SNACS PRESCHOOL In stead....Please give me your feed..... my boys have…read morebeen at SNACS since mid November around the 2nd month they would send home my kids a lot. Am I the only one this is happening too??? Week 1 off incident Teo 3 years old has "Ringworm" now my son suffers from eczema since he was a baby. But because it was a perfect circle the center flagged it as "ringworm" ok fine picked him and took him to his medical office. Got him some steroid cream and fixed the ringworm issue. He missed the entire week school kept the 170.00 kool fine they got bills to pay too. Week 2 upon his return Teo had two blow outs no fever no nothing ok fine we pick him up where told he can't return for 72 hrs. So another fully paid week kool I work from home and mom is available so guess that's kool......I have millions to donate I guess.... ohh no diarrhea the rest of the day or week by the way Week 3 Teo returns and now not even 4 hrs in school I get a call Teo has a cough you need to pick him up oh by the way in order for him to return he needs a negative covid test.... me being the worried mother I am takes him to Renown urgent care to get that covid test. Feeling guilty the entire time over putting him in a day care. Scared he might actually have covid and all sorts of thoughts racing through my head. 72 hrs late Teo has a negative covid test doctor says it's just my son adjusting to daycare life that it's totally normal for kids to catch things when they've never been in daycare. Week 4 only went like a day due to holidays Week 5 brings to today Teo experienced a nose bleed At school a couple hours after my husband and I dropped him off. FYI I did not take Teo to school Monday because he legit had a cough this time. So ok they call I send my husband to pick up Teo. Somewhere between the pick the school calls back "Manu Teos brother said daddy hit Teo" ok that's concerning anyways.... hubby comes home watches Teo while I work..... oh by the way Teo does get regular nose bleeds it's on his medical record and I do remember telling the teachers about it. It's due to the dry air in the valley and his sensitive nose. 4 hrs later we have the RPD AND CPS thank god at least I know our city is on it for reports. I want to give them a big shout out as if this was a legit reason I would owe them my life my everything!!!! I appreciate our law enforcement especially our case workers and am glad they came over today. Upset emotional and a bit embarrassed but overall satisfied with the empathy and support shown today!!!! Needless to say my boys will never go back to SNACS I UNDERSTAND THEY ARE REQUIRED TO REPORT INCIDENTS AND WHAT NOT. That's fine but after reviewing the multiple incidents not mention all things my boys say happen there that now I feel where big time red flags.... So back to my question any other moms/dads get there kids regularly sent home from SNACS.... The director legit told me "every daycare has that one kid who is always sick" "Teo happens to be that kid" I think is false his only been sick according to them while in there care bacause this past 5 weeks his been fine while at home in exception to this past weekend. So please any feedback is appreciated I need to know if it's only my family or if this is happening to any other family's. I will also need a new daycare center or licensed babysitter I pay 170.00 per each child and I work Monday-Friday 11:30-8:00 but they only need care from 11:30 to 4:30.

The director is the worst and should be replaced…read more Kids get hurt all the time on their watch. They don't watch the doors & the "teachers" are never the same - huge turnover.

I came across SVA (Squaw Valley Acady) while researching for a boarding High School for my nephew…read morein China. I also spent a day there. Students use lap tops during class with wifi access. A lot of emphases is placed on learning with a laptop. . (All wifi are turned off at 11pm at night.). Considering all standardize tests in the US are computerized (MCAT, LSAT) and most work environments in the US use electronic records exclusively, lap top in classroom is a good idea. Students come from all over the world with the goal of attending a college in the US. SVA has transformed itself in the past few years to focus on college prep for international students. Class sizes are small, usually less than 10 students per teacher. I noticed the students get alone with each other rather well. This is observed during lunch time. I see students from different countries sit next to each other. Dorm rooms are 1-4 students per room. Most of the ones I saw have 3 students in them. There is a microwave on each hall, fridge and safe in each room. Overall the rooms are larger than the one I used to live at UC Berkeley 20 years ago. (unit 1 Cheney) and much larger then the tiny rooms at Univ of Tennessee. Washers and dryers are free for students to use. At night, dorm exits have security alarms, hallways are video monitored SVA pride itself at offering a balance between academic and personal development. They encourage students to take advantage of it's location to learn many physical activities Tahoe has to offer - hiking, soccer, golfing, cycling, ski / snowboard. I think this makes SVA different from other college prep school. I have the opportunity to spoke to students there. Due to the many Saturday field trips student take, expect another $4000 or so in additional expenses. While the students like them, parents may be surprised at the bill.
