I've been a few times and the first time was excellent, very happy with the service and manicure/pedicure and also the second time was good with color and gel but the pedicure was poor. The 3rd time I've returned the manicure and shaping of nails was very poor, specifically no cuticle trimming which lead to the gel having a large gap and the shaping of the nails is inconsistent on both hands. Will not return due to inconsistency as there are other salons who will do a proper treatment and better quality for the same price. read more

After being a client for almost 4 years, I think it is time to find a new nail salon. I always get a mani/pedi and my eyebrows waxed. Last time inhad to leave without getting mybmy toenails painted, because they didn't have a color that match3d my hand nails even remotely... since it was not a big deal at the time and I was in a rush, I let it go. Today I came in for a full gel manicure and pedicure. I sat down, got my feet in the tub, the lady begins working on my nails and I got so relaxed I dozed off. When I woke up and looked at my still in progress manicure, i pointed out a dirt mark on my right thumb nail and the cuticles not trimmed... the lady said I had to pay $10 more for cuticles... she then proceeded to angrily file my thumb nail almost to the skin and repeating the problem was my nail, not her job. Then I started looking at the rest of nails, which look like they're going to become unglued at any time, some of them have dirt between the nail and the surface and, in general, it looks like my 9 y.o. granddaughter gave me a manicure! I think the nail job was not satisfactory. I asked for it to be done right and only received excuses and rude responses from them. And they begun talking to each other in their language aggressively. I asked for the Manager but she wasn't there. I honestly don't think it would have made a difference. The lady who did my nails just walked away while speaking loudly in her own language, leaving me to deal with a very rude co-worker who irately demanded I pay for a service that, in my opinion, was a shabby job. I have spent thousands of dollars at this establishment over the years. I never complained or argued with them when they changed or added fees to their already high prices. But, after this poor experience and seeing their appalling customer service, I will be taking my business elsewhere. I don't need to be taken advantage of or to be mistreated by someone I'm paying to for a service I'm not satisfied with. Life is too short to walk around with ugly nails. read more

I was a new walk in. They said they could get to me in five minutes. It may have been a few minutes more, but it was very fast - most salons lie and make you wait a half hour so that was impressive. Di was my gal. She was sweet, kind, detailed and gentle with my fragile nails. I love them. I even got out with time to spare! Now let's see how long they last! Don't waste your time if you're looking for a gel builder manicure at this location. Go to the San Miguel location!! I was on the other side of town and decided to stop in for a gel builder manicure. I asked if they had someone who knew how to properly do one. The gal who did them had a very different technique than the way I had usually experienced. She cured them all at once rather than building with several coats. I asked her about it and she dismissed me saying, "Everyone has a different way." I trusted her and they looked good when I left. Within 72 hours the gel broke off one of my nails. They usually last chip free for 3 weeks when I go to the San Miguel location. I called on Saturday to ask if I could come get it fixed and they asked me to come Sunday at 11. I specifically asked if someone would be available to fix it on Sunday since not everyone is trained to do gel builder. I was told, "Yes. Come at 11." I showed up on Sunday and was told that the person who does gel builder wasn't working today and was asked to wait. No apology or explanation. I finally got the nail fixed in the next day another nail broke. I don't mean that my nail broke, the gel coating on top popped off because it had been improperly cured. I stopped back in to have that nail fixed and two hours later another nail broke. This location does not know how to properly offer a gel builder manicure. Do not waste your time I know it's just a matter of time until the rest of my nail start breaking and it hasn't even been six days, I don't know about you, but I don't have an extra three hours in my week to run back and get nails fixed because they weren't applied properly. They did finally offer a gift certificate so that I can at least return to the location on San Miguel where they know what they are doing. I just wish these ladies hadn't wasted so much of my time. read more

I was asked if I wanted to upgrade to gel, no, I just wanted regular nail polish. She asked if I wanted a "new" color, so I said sure & picked a different color. After filing my nails to the skin & barely rubbing lotion as my "massage," she charged me $21 for a manicure that didn't even last walking into the grocery store next door! First off, this place does not deserve its low rating! This is my family's go-to nail salon and we have consistently had good experiences here. While they do tend to push their pricier services, they are respectful when you decline. The ladies here are very sweet, the place is clean, and--most importantly--they do a good job! Quality for both regular & gel, for a pretty standard price. They also always have the Food Network on, so you get to look at yummy food while getting your mani pedi. Win-win! read more

I came back so they could fix it and didn't receive so much as an apology. -------------------------------------------------- This place was clean but the staff was loud, abrupt, and distracted. The lady at the front yelled over the order of what I wanted before I was even done asking. The customers (myself and 1 other lady) were definitely not their focus or priority. The 3 staff members talked the ENTIRE time in a foreign language, and not quietly. Two of them were sick and openly coughing or clearing their throat every few seconds. Then, at check out, I used the $25 gift certificate I'd been given and my total was still $20 more...for a new set (not pink and white). Insane! When I asked for the breakdown, the girl told me she had used gel on my hands and that was it an additional $15. Everywhere else I have ever been, it's an additional $5. She told me their gel was "better" and the charge was for a top and bottom gel coat. Who puts gel underneath a set? She never disclosed the amount but I was required to pay anyway. Hooray, today Newport Nail Salon reopened!! I was so excited to get an appointment for a pedicure and manicure!! They followed all the guidelines for sanitary cleaning due to the virus. I enjoyed my pedicure but sadly I didn't get the name of sweet lady. Vivian gave me the perfect manicure! All manicurists are friendly and strive for perfection. All in all, I paid $30 for a spa pedicure that was way overpriced but just ok. The lady didn't really cut my nails because I had cut it before. But she did the callous removal which was fine. What I'm disappointed at is the design. Of course you always pay $5 extra for the little flower and a gem stone. But the gem stone came out so fast! It was as if it wasn't put on properly. That got me upset because I'm already overpaying, at least it could stay on! And I've had gemstones on my feet for a very long time before it finally comes off. My only real positive was the vast amount of OPI nail polish the shop offered and the fact that it was mostly well-ventilated so we could breathe. But looking at my pedicure tonight, it was definitely not worth the time or money. My friend and I were in Newport and went in on a whim. The ladies seemed friendly, so we were comfortable. It was far too overpriced-- I paid $35 for a spa pedicure and mani-- and when I went home, I saw that my pedicure was rushed and messy, as were the corners of my manicure. My friend could almost not believe it, the blob that was on my toes they called nail polish. I actually liked this place.. Many are complaining about the pricing and true to get a spa pedi/mani it is $10 extra than a normal pedi/mani but I guess it's just me that noticed the prices on the HUGE ASS price menu that is in your face when you walk in. I guess I never go in blind folded into places and I don't just wander around thinking extra things would not cost a little more. Cheap people suck.. Anyhoo.. I ended up adding on the gel nail and I will say that they are a little pushy here with trying to get you to do this. I am a stickler for not wanting to sit forever to get the gel nails put on= and off.. I had them before and was over it. To me time is money and I can't spend an hour getting gel nails put on... This place had me out pronto! Kudos to them.. Like: The rather large selection of OPI. The fact that they use lining on the regular pedicure tubs which to me I am not a fan of the spa chairs because if those spa tubs are not cleaned properly the likelihood of catching a fungus is higher. So the more sanitary route is the regular old buckets which they line with a disposable liner. Dislike: The pushiness of "come on get the gel nail. it last longer". read more

Pedicures: The spa pedicures are okay. I definitely have had better. The lady kept nagging me for more treatments I did not ask for. It was really awkward to say no over and over again. Before she started, she asked if I was Filipino or Vietnamese. I guess to make sure she can talk trash. She massaged my legs as part of the "spa" treatment but she kept rubbing my shins really hard and I was cringing in pain. She asked me if she can massage me longer and I said no!!! Manicure: I got the gelish manicure and it was great. I was happy with the work done. I went to the Bahamas and camping (around 2 weeks worth of activities) and my nails were still intact. Eyebrow waxing: Never again. The same lady who did my pedicure wanted to do my eyebrows. She waxed me in the spa chair in front of everyone. I picked the bottle up by the base & put it in my purse. I was not the person that secured the top nor ever touched the top. Upon getting home I discovered the lid was loose & polish all over my I phone. Fortunately it did not damage the phone but I had to replace the $38 tempered cover. I asked Rose (who knows me to be a regular customer) if she could give me a $38 dollar credit at the salon to make up for the mistake.
