Chowder is great flavor. Lobster roll was filling with big pieces of lobster. Mac and cheese is nice, hot and cheesy!! Grilled cheese - the use of raisin bread wasnt a great choice. The cheese was not fully melted and the bacon was not cooked to be crispy. Not a fan.
This lived up to the hype. Get the bowl and a roll and get the roll hot. You'll be glad you did.
Seriously the best clam chowder I've ever had! With clams, shrimp, cod and no bacon thank you very much! Plus dipping the pretzel in the chowder was amazing!
Wanted to go to a simple place for a quick early dinner & this Newport chowder house was exactly that & more! Right on Thames so there's a lil bit of inside seating & outside seating great for people watching and to enjoy the great weather ! Menu is great and simple . The service is wonderful the owner is delightful & introduces herself while making sure everything just right ! We had a new England lobster roll and it was the 4 oz. Hot dog roll stuffed with chilled fresh lobster and we shared 4 shrimp cocktail crisp & chilled with great cocktail sauce. They had two hot dogs too. Prices are great very reasonable & fun atmosphere, great family owned eatery in the middle of everything! Can't wait to go back for chowder too! Keep an eye out They have food trucks too :)
This is such a cute and casual spot! The patio is adorable and has both covered and sunny spots. Staff were super friendly. The chowder and lobster roll came in a combo for $33. It was the perfect amount of food for me (I was hungry)! I will definitely come back if I'm in Newport!
Best chowder I have tasted in a while. One of the best lobster rolls in the area as well. They really emphasize on the quality of the lobster meat so its very very light on the mayo. While my personal preference is a little heavier on the mayo like the one served in 2nd beach twin lobster roll this one is still amazing. The texture and the butter on the bread is spot on for what's needed for a great lobster roll. My friend who is a self proclaimed lobster roll expert (no joke he had 5 lobster rolls in one day during our trip) said the lobster roll here is something special. Its right in between Kilwins and Benjamins. The most bustling part of town. Get yourself a chowder and a roll combo. Chow down on some great food while people watching. Enjoy!
one of the best deals for a lobster roll and chowder I have ever had! For $33 you can get a cold lobster roll and chowder of choice. I did the seafood chowder which was chunky in the best way, creamy, and delicious. I was pleasantly surprised for a combo that the lobster roll was still the full size, I really enjoyed the roll, the meat was tender and rolls were buttery (however, I would recommend paying the $2 extra for a warm roll as I tried a bite of that and preferred it). Newport Chowder itself is a casual place with some patio seating uncovered and covered, order at the stand and food is brought to you. Service was friendly and decently timed. I will be back!

I highly recommend getting their roll and bowl combo which is $33 for a lobster roll and a small bowl of chowder. FOOD: The seafood chowder is their award winning chowder and it's well deserved. The chowder was flavorful and thick. The lobster roll was stuffed with a few large pieces but more smaller finely chopped pieces. SERVICE: Quick and friendly service! OVERALL: The roll and bowl combo was such a great deal and I'd get it again!
Fast counter service. We enjoyed the bowl and roll. Seafood chowder and hot Lobster roll. Chowder was tasty and hardy. Lobster roll was smaller than expected but very good. Sweet fresh lobster meat on a buttery warm bun. Worth trying and stopping in. Busy area and limited seating, no rest rooms.
A bit surprised that the seafood chowder isn't classic New England clam chowder. The seafood chowder was creamy, but it wasn't outstanding. The lobster roll on the other hand was very delicious! It had large chunks, wasn't seasoned with too much, and it was very fresh. Quahog was interesting, large, didn't seem to have much seafood inside. Make sure you check the hours of the stand that is downtown before you go! Depending on the season, only the food truck may be open. There is picnic tables, but it was a bit rainy, so we took the food to go!
Newport Chowder is located in downtown Newport and they have a food truck that moves around as well. The first time I had Newport Chowder was at their food truck. Their seafood chowder is Award Winning. The seafood chowder features shrimp, scallops and cod with their secret blend of spices. This was delicious and there were huge portions of seafood. At their downtown location, I had a bowl of Corn Chowder and their lobster Mac and cheese. This is cream based chowder with corn, potatoes and their secret blend of spices. The lobster Mac and cheese had a good portion of lobster and the Mac and cheese was not too cheesy which is how I like it. The food was very good. I can't wait to come back to Newport Chowder to try other items.

Wow! A gem in the middle of a tourist trap!!! The chowder is awesome and the lobster roll is a dynamite 10 of 10!! Get it hot!! Tip: get a lobster roll instead of the $15 surcharge for the lobster topper (don't order lobster topper) and put some lobster in your chowder!!!

Best Lobster rolls I've ever had! Packed full of the most tender juicy lobster on a toasted soft roll with hot butter. We had them last year and we had to go back this year for more. They were just as fantastic as we remembered! They also have the most delicious chowder. I've never had chowder with soft tender clams like that. They're not tough and chewy at all! If you're debating whether the lobster roll is worth it, stop thinking and order it. This was one of the most generously filled lobster rolls I've had. It was absolutely packed with large, fresh chunks of lobster, not just a few pieces hidden under the bun. The buttery toasted roll was the perfect complement without overpowering the lobster, and the lemon on top added just the right fresh finish. The quality, portion size, and flavor made it easy to justify the price. If you're in Newport and craving a lobster roll, Newport Chowder Company should absolutely be on your list. It had large chunks, wasn't seasoned with too much, and it was very fresh. Quahog was interesting, large, didn't seem to have much seafood inside. small, cute, convenient, side of the road lobster roll and chowder shack. Wasn't too busy when I went on a Sunday, but still took a little longer than I expected. The cold one lobster roll wasn't dressed in mayo or anything but the lobster itself was good and fresh. The warm lobster roll was lightly seasoned. I ordered a double and then a combo. They said the double would be slightly smaller, but they all came out the same size....which makes me think that at least one should've been noticeably larger. The chowder was lemony, different from other ones I've had. I thought it was pretty good. It's in a convenient location and I'm glad to have tried it once. read more

Service: the two ladies were very nice and cheery. Very upbeat personalities. They were quick with the food service and patient with my decision making. Food: I ordered clam chowder and lobster roll. They also mentioned it was their grandma's recipe and would not disappoint. To be honest it was one of the best clam chowders I have ever tasted! The lobster roll was delicious as well plenty of lobster and properly seasoned and coated with butter. The bread alone was nice and crispy with a soft and fluffy texture! The lobster roll in the picture definitely had more lobster I was just picking at it to make sure I was flavorful prior to biting into the roll Ladies you definitely did not disappoint; grandma's recipe is 100 percent a hit! I tried the corn chowder and lobster roll. We also wanted stuffies but they were out of them. I had to ask for my chowder to be reheated as it wasn't even Luke warm. They reheated it and said 140 should do it- well it was still just luke warm. I had to ask for crackers and the girl begrudgingly handed me 4 packages-i think her f you to me...Everything was super tasty though-would've been 5 if it wasn't for their attitudes read more

Stop, drop and lobster roll!! A fresher, sweeter succulent lobster roll will be hard found!! This lobster Al fresco stop is next to Kilwins. You can choose hot buttered or cold and it's all about the lobster.. chunky and full. We came for the lunch special. 2 for $31. This price is outrageous considering quality and location. Ask for a sample of their chowder. Chances are you'll get a bowl. The stuffies are good, a little on the spicy side. Fresh house made pretzels are good, too. read more

Gave this a try after digging just a bit into reviews! The line moved quickly, seafood chowder and lobster roll were excellent! Although the bread that the lobster sits on is not the main event, it was actually so good I am noting it! The street scape views were fun and inviting! read more
