I didn't think anything about it until this week when I needed to pay for towing out of my own pocket. After calling around all the local companies, I called Matanuska Towing. They gave me the least expensive rate, a flat-rate fee of $140. There was no guessing how many miles to tow multiplied by a per-mile rate plus a call out fee. It was a simple, upfront cost. The receptionist was sweet, and the driver turned out to remember us from the tow two years ago due to our unique driveway. Everyone I've ever dealt with at MTR has been really great at providing quality customer service. Also, they were at my house in under an hour to tow my car over to the mechanic.

Everyone has bad days, everyone has great days and then there are those days where you just need…read moresome help. As I'm leaving the parking lot, I noticed a young lady trying to unlock her car. After a few minutes of what looked like a struggle, I felt compelled to help. I've been there.. possible a broken window later, never the less, the young lady still locked out. I decided to call Cody at Elite Towing & Recovery and asked if he could assist this young lady. I told him I would pay the bill and that she just seemed like she needed help. He let me know he would be there in 20 minutes and would call me back once the call was finished, he did. He stated the young lady had been taken care of and told me not to worry about it. I insisted on paying the bill and he still kindly declined. This is not the only interaction we have had with him. A couple years ago our truck slide down our driveway after our blessed icy rain and our truck got high centered on a hill. Our insurance called Cody and he came to assess the situation. We ended up needing an excavator to make sure our truck didn't receive more damage but of course what insurance would want to pay that bill. Cody spoke with them and they finally agreed to go ahead with his plan. We can't thank him enough for helping us out in a bind. If you ever need a car unlocked, vehicle towed or an excavator, he's your guy!!! Reliability and integrity are hard to come by these days.

The towtruck driver who responded to the Trooper call was angry, rude and careless when he used his wench to pull my daughter's vehicle away from the semi, causing more damage to her vehicle's front axle. At the Troopers request, the towtruck driver agreed to tow my daughter's vehicle to our house about 5 miles away from the crash site. He couldn't make it up the little hill on the road to my house in his dinky little 2-wheel drive towtruck. Without any notice or consultation, the towtruck driver called his supervisor to attempt to tow my daughter's vehicle from another dinky little 2-wheel drive tow truck in which the tires on it spun out on him as well. They ended up leaving my daughter's vehicle in a ditch less than half a mile away from the crash site. They didnt get the job done and charged my daughter over $1,000.00 just to get her keys back from them. The supervisor griped at my daughter to take up the invoice with her insurance. Towz r Us was about as rude and nasty as assholes could ever be. I would never reccomend them. They are super rude and greedy. If Towz r Us has ever been a good company with good people working for them, while providing good service, I didn't see any of it. I suspect the good reviews on here are fake and from the owner's family and friends attempting to hype up the company's reputation. Don't trust the good reviews. All the one-star reviews are spot on. I called for a price quote and to potentially arrange a tow from Matanuska Towing in Palmer. The person on the phone was super courteous and friendly. He was shocked at how dirty Towz r us pricegouged my daughter and recommended that I call to inform the Trooper about what Towz r Us had done. Matanuska Towing wasn't going to charge us more than $325.00 at a steep estimate to tow my daughter's vehicle to the house. My daughter ended up having Elite tow her vehicle for her. Elite charged only $250 and even gave her a ride.

Alaska towing had me waiting for 1.5 hours before I texted and asked if they were still coming. The driver asked for photos of the situation.... Once I sent them over, I didn't hear back from them for at least another hour. In the meantime I called Towz R Us. The woman that answered was very polite and helpful. She gave me a rough quote on the costs, but let me know that the driver would charge actual costs at the finalization of the job. The driver called me FIFTEEN minutes later to tell me he was about 5 minutes from me. When he arrived he was disappointed at the situation. It was a hot mess. He said it was more involved that initially thought. He said he'd give it his best shot. He chained his truck up and tried to pull the trailer out. It wasn't budging. He told me that I should hook up and chain up and he'd pull from the side. I had never put chains on. He was super helpful and showed me how to install them. He was extremely patient and polite. I didn't feel at all that I was imposing on him, because I had no idea how to put on chains. It felt more like two buddies trying to accomplish a task. I can't recommend Towz R Us more. They were professional, quick, and reasonably priced. In the end, he got the trailer out, helped me back it up, and guided me all the way to the final resting place of the trailer. He didn't need to stick around and talk me through all that over the phone. His job was to get the trailer out. He did that. Then he made sure me and the trailer got home safely. Meanwhile, as I was moving a car to make room in my driveway for the drop-off, the car i was moving stalled in the middle of my street and would not re-start, nor could I push it out of the street because the electronic transmission wouldn't allow me to put it into neutral unless the car was running. I had to leave it in the street while I went to meet Daut, the tow truck driver. Daut communicated with me several times leading up to the pick-up to update his status for arrival. I meet him at the pick-up and told him about my situation at home. He said he could probably help me get it into neutral. When we arrived home he was able to maneuver his truck to place the car he towed right where I needed it, despite my other car being in the way. He then he spent a fair amount of time helping to get the other car out of neutral and started, but nothing worked. Daut said he needed to go to another pick-up but would come back if I couldn't get the car started and out of the road while he was gone. While he was gone I failed to get the car started and out of the street. True to his word Daut came back and masterfully got my car, which would not roll, out of the street and into my warm garage! It was an impressive feat to watch. I can't say enough good things about Daut and Eagle Towing!!

My truck was broken down at mile 91 of the Glenn highway. I called AAA and they sent out MTR. I…read moreadvised AAA that I needed to take the truck on base they said that would be fine and advised me the truck would be there in an hour. Two and a half hours later, the truck arrived. I don't fault them too much for this, due to the remoteness of the location. The driver was very cordial but you could tell he was new at his job and was less experienced. After the truck was loaded, I told him where we were going. He then called his boss and he advised me that his boss told him we had to drop the truck off base. I then called his boss directly and he was very rude telling me that they don't go on base and they were going to just drop it at the gate. He said getting it on base was my problem, not his. As the conversation continued, he became more and more rude, telling me that he could just drop in in palmer and be done with me. If I had known they were going to drop my broken truck at the gate for me to deal with, I would have requested from AAA someone who would not abandon me in an inconvenient location without offering any solutions. Due to the nature of AAA, once they show up, its considered a callout whether they tow me a mile, or a hundred. The manager knew this fact and once the truck was on the bed, he knew that he had me. AAA pays the tow companies very well for their services and at the end of the day, that's all he cared about he got his miles in and he got paid, but I get hosed in the process. I will never get a tow from MTR again. I wouldn't recommend these guys at all. I would be willing to pay extra to NOT use these guys again.
