Dr. Wilson, Dr. Newman and Staff have always provided an excellent level of service and professionalism in my experiences. All consultation and advisement has been very accurate and is obviously based off of extensive experience. On top of their professionalism, they both have warm and outgoing personalities, which helps when receiving their advisement on how to continue good habits and mitigate any pain you may be dealing with. Staff has also been on point every time; accommodating rescheduling requests and capable of clearly communicated expectations. The office is inviting, and from all appearances, they are running a very smooth operation here. I'd recommend booking yourself an appointment as soon as possible so you can start experiencing the kind of relief that I have benefited from, due to Newman Chiropractic! read more

Very good doctor. I'm grateful for all he's done. He's very caring and we need more like him.

This place appears to be good at first, but in the end they over treat you, use up your insurance and then surprise you with big bills several months after. They kept signing me up for treatment plans which were well written and justified. I went there 2-3 times a week for chiropractor and OT. After 5 months and asking them several times, I found out my insurance stop covering chiropractor adjustments. They never informed me. Then surprise - pay us or go to collections! All we care about is money! Never mind they were getting paid from my insurance hundreds for each OT visit. I stopped going there because the over treatment was causing me more pain than before I went there. Once I stopped going my body healed and I started to feel better. Don't let these greedy money hungry husband and wife con you with their treatment plans over and over again. They act all caring and nice but they are just counting dollar signs. Go to a place that truly cares about patients and has ethics. read more

The receptionist refused me to make appointment, she said my insurance company does not cover it which is United Healthcare. But my insurance company and the list of OptumHealth physican talked to her again, this lady insisted to refuse me and said they are not under the network. No one knows what is going on this receptionist. Maybe Dr. Newman can answer it. I actually saw Dr. Newman long time ago and did a good job to me, so that I wanted to see him. Seems they are picking people to accept patients now. Hopefully, Dr. Newman you can see this comments. read more

Dr Newman and his wife are definitely the BEST Chiropractors in the whole Bay Area! I have tried many and none have gotten me back where I need to be so fast! My kids also go here and Kaiser always says rest and ice. But with Newman Chiropractic they get you back moving and give you stretches and strengthening exercises to help you get back to 100% and stay there. Will never go any where else. If you feel stiff, can't move, back or neck aches definitely give them a call!! read more

Don't buy their massage packages from Groupon!!! I bought a massage package and it took three months to get an appointment with Heidi, the massage therapist. The package came with a consultation with the chiropractor for an assessment. While I cannot speak highly enough about Dr. Joanne Wilson who was nothing, if not professional and caring, the opposite is true of the massage therapist. Dr. Wilson was thorough, took time to explain and answer questions and did not try to sell me services I did not need. I finally got to my massage at the appointed time after waiting three months. I was on time and waiting for Heidi for 20 minutes in the waiting room and filled out the form. She finally came to get me and I asked if she would use the CBD cream I had brought with me. This was discussed with Dr. Wilson who said that it would not be a problem. Heidi declined saying that she wouldn't use the cream I brought with me. So, I left it at that and told her she could use whatever cream she saw fit. There was no discussion about what areas that she should concentrate on. She told me to disrobe and get on the massage table. The massage itself was fine...it was painful because of the knots in my body, not because of anything with the massage technique. There was no communication whether the amount pressure was all right or how I was doing. The massage seemed over very quickly and I looked at the clock when she stopped and it was exactly 7pm. It was a 40 minutes massage at best, when the Groupon I purchased stated a 60 minutes massage. She told me to get dressed and left the room. I left a generous tip on the table and left the room. When I exited the room, she was waiting at the door like she had been waiting for me to vacate the room. No offer of a glass of water or how I felt after the massage. I didn't mention the brevity of the massage at that time because she had someone else waiting. I did try to get the subsequent appointment since it had taken three months to get the first one. She said she did not have time to deal with it then and that she would call me with a time slot. Three days passed and I hadn't heard from her so I called on the 4th day to make an appointment. I spoke to Heidi and wanted to clarify that the next massage was to be an hour long. She said that she had given me the full amount of time on the first massage and I explained that I had been waiting for 20 minutes before I was shown into the room. How could she have possibly given me the full hour. She refused to hear what I was saying; there was no apologetic sentiment and insisted that I got the full amount of time. At that point she said she didn't have time to talk anymore and hung up!!! Unbelievable! I called back and started to tell Alicia the receptionist/office manager about what had just happened and she cut me off and said "yes, I heard the conversation and Heidi said that you were arguing with her!" Again, I felt I had to explain my point of view but she did not want to hear it either. I asked if there was some one else I could get a massage from and was told that Heidi was the only one. After the experience I just had with her, I didn't think a massage from her would relax me, by any stretch of the imagination. I asked Alicia how we should proceed with the rest of the massages and she said that they reserve the right to refuse service to anyone. I asked her to let me speak to the doctor to resolve the situation and she hung up on me! It seems that the support staff that work here are ill equipped to deal with customer service issues and their answer is to just hang up on the client. This is the worst customer service I have encountered and they are doing a great disservice to their employers because it reflects so badly on them. As I mentioned, I couldn't have been more impressed with the two consultations I had with Dr. Wilson and would have given her no less than a five star review. The staff on the other hand are unprofessional, rude and could care less! If you want a chiropractor, I would gladly recommend Dr. Wilson but if you looking to buy massages, save yourself waste of your money, time and heartache at being treated like a pariah! read more

UPDATE - 3/26/2008: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I started going to a new DC closer to me (Dr. Connor of Menlo Park) and he called their office to get my x-rays sent. Two weeks later, both he and I have called numerous times and still no x-rays. One of their receptionists, Diana, was really rude on the phone. I called today and a woman named Amber answered. She was much nicer and even apologized for the delay. A few hours later Dr. Wilson phoned and assured me that the x-rays were in the mail and to call her if they weren't there by weeks end. :) 12/06/2007: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Where do I start? I got suckered into purchasing one of those promotional marketing things. (You know the ones that give you wicked discounts just to get you in the door because everyone else knows better!) Well, I tried it, and having been a patient of a DC who is extremely good at what they do, I instantly noticed the difference! Her adjustments were rough and she was a bit pushy on selling her products/services. The one thing I wanted to purchase, Biofreeze, they were out of. Go figure! The massages at this location are mediocre at best and heaven for bid don't put me on another taped call informing me of a Chiropractic Seminar. (It took 2 months for them to finally remove me from the automated call list!) read more

Outstanding service! Dr. Newman is very thorough and very engaged in solving problems. I enrolled in the corrective care program and my posture has greatly improved and I am much stronger. I highly recommend the corrective care program! It is well worth the money. read more

They deserve a BIG FAT ZERO. I made an appointment in advance after confirmation w/a 2nd receptionist. The 1st one never called me back. Some hole-in-the wall places in the corner like this chiropractor office should never be found or be seen. Shitty service and false advertising. Upon my check-in, I was not in their computer system of my appointment nor would they honor the full Groupon deal. The receptionist stated the MD would not treat bone spurs in my foot. What kind of MD turns away a patient or not feel confident? Hope new patients go elsewhere and hope current patients don't see the Doctors at this establishment anymore. What a buffoonery this place is, wasted my time & gas. read more

I've really enjoyed my treatment by Dr. Newman and the whole staff. The massuess (can't believe I've forgotten her name) is WONDERFUL, and the doctors have been extremely flexible with scheduling for me, which is seriously helpful. Highly recommend. read more

This is by far the best place to get a massage. Heidi is awesome , she knows a ton of different modalities, when I got her she was able to do sports therapy, and when im really sore she can do swedish, but I normally have her do deep tissue from my job. Get thai stretching is amazing when she pairs it with her trigger point and cupping. I always get my full 50 min massage even if she is busy and is running a bit late because her other patients ran a tad late. Not a problem as Alicia the office manager is always a joy to talk to. Dr. Wilson and Newman both are a hoot to talk with as well. Couldn't give this place a higher rating. Maybe this is why a bunch of sffd and amr peeps go here. read more

Horrible customer service and people skills. I just want to say that the massage therapist Delores is a blessing she knows all my chronic muscle pains just by touch, and she knows what pressure points to use. If I were to recommend a therapist it would be her because she definitely knows her stuff and I have been seeing her for years now. It is nice to find a massage therapist that knows what they are doing especially since it is hard to find the right person. Especially when you are dealing with chronic joint pains for years. Thanks, Delores for all your wonderful kind words, and massage therapy support!!! read more

I have been going to them for about 6 years now and couldnt be happier. The front desk receptionist - Michelle is the absolute best. She is so great with my kids and my son loves to play with her while I get adjusted - now thats service! I get adjustments from both Dr. Wilson and Dr. Newman and they are total professionals. Dr. Wilson is fun because we get to talking about our kids, life, and the all the rest - she has helped me find solutions for my family needs as well. Sometimes I call up in the morning and they squeeze me in the same day. No complaints here! read more

Have never received a robocall or any pushy sales from this office. Dr. Newman and Dr. Wilson both provide excellent service, and the staff is A+. Also, their in house masseuse, Katy is just amazing. I've been to other Chiropractors over the years, and this is the best service I have ever received. Thumbs way up! read more

Big Zero! The receptionist was extremely rude! (Rudeness is a theme if you read the other low reviews)! I buy a Groupon deal, schedule message appointment for my husband who has neck pain, they claim he was late for the appointment, which is not true, so they don't take him and they tell him so rudely they will not honor the Groupon deal, and then I call them to try to resolve and see if we can reschedule and that same girl goes off rude at me and she hangs up the phone in my face telling me that she has other things to do!! I was shocked and extremely disappointed! The funny part is when I asked her what happens to my Groupon? I paid for it, she says "well maybe you can tell your husband not to be rude when talking to people"! I felt am talking to a 3-year old, honestly! Save yourself and go somewhere else where they value customers!! I wouldn't want anyone like her to represent my business!! Sarah was her name if I recall correctly! read more

I was experiencing chronic neck and low back pain. I went to two different kaiser doctors over 4 years and was continually given higher doses of Ibuprofen, which would help for a few weeks or a couple months. I went on groupon looking for a chiropractic exam and found the exam plus massages. Awesome deal! I saw Dr. Wilson for the exam. She was very informative, took x-rays, setup the follow up. She showed me the issue, walked me through underlying causes and recommended a set of adjustments and procedures. I have gone through a similar process in the past with a chiropractor, and had a bad experience with a pushy Dr. trying to get me to buy a package of treatment out of my budget. By contrast Dr. Wilson wasn't pushy, gave her recommendations. She also gave a great discount for prepaying visits that made it all very reasonably priced. After 3 months of the treatment I am thrilled with the results. My chronic neck pain is gone, plus I have an arsenal of stretches and exorcises to help prevent it from coming back. I had 3 outstanding deep tissue massages (paid of a little upgrade from the standard groupon relaxation massages). I am sticking with Dr. Wilson and have already book several more massages with Delores. Added to all this, the office is very very friendly. I had my wife start getting treated as well (She has had great results with some pain from untreated scoliosis). We have two kids that are welcomed to come back with us when getting treatment and treated like family. I have talked with a few of the clientele while wait to be seen, and everyone seems like longer standing customers that have kept coming back because of the great results and good relationship they have made with the Doctors. I hope this post helps anyone if they are trying to decide on a chiropractor. Best! read more

Dr Newman has helped me so much with my neck and back. I lived so long with bad neck issues to the point where I felt miserable and tired but accepted it. I used to go to another Chiropractor before and I realized how much more experienced and knowledgeable Dr Newman is. He has over 20 years of experience and it shows. He has made me feel so much healthier and I don't know why I didn't find him sooner . If you pay for your treatment up front, they give you a generous discount as well. Also, they are really honest and don't try to sell you anything you don't need or want. I really appreciate that in a business. read more

Started out good Dr. Wilson was able to see me despite my crazy schedule with caring for grandkids. Saw her then came back again and had massage. Was called and reminded of appts, no problem. I had purchased 3 separate groupons in error instead of going cheaper route of getting a lower price for 3 massages. Dr. Wilso n said they would accept them. Had hell after that all of a sudden my appt times got all mixed up and "no one could reach me by phone". Last straw was showed up for my 12:30 app at 12:15 and was told by Heidi that apot was at 12, said "tried to call me", said I could reschedule or get a 30 minute massage. At no time was I told this voided my Groupon!!!!!!! I chose to reschedule and drove all the way here and was now told my Groupon was void and if I wanted massage I would need to pay. Walked out, asked for voucher refund and writing this review. Shall never darken the door of Newman Chiropractic again and word of mouth shall be spread! read more

Horrendous customer service and people skills. One star for location. 0 stars for customer service. Leads me to believe the reviews, since there are so few, are mostly left by friends and family. They think they can cancel your appointment the day before after you waited 4 weeks to fit in their schedule. Come to find out their employees aren't really employees but contractors who you will dealing with on 1 to 1 basis and if they cancel or overbook you may lose your spot. They called me the day before my appt and said we need to move your appt to a new time. I said ok what choice do I have? Answer: none. When I called in to move my appointment they said sorry you will still be charged even though I waited a whole month and they moved the original appointment! They then took ZERO responsibility as a business and said our employees are actually contracted so you can speak to them directly! When I asked them to speak to the therapist for me and fix this, they said no just come in and talk to the therapist yourself!! This seems like Craigslist therapists with a store front in prime area like San Ramon. Why take a risk going here when there are dozens of great places in the area. If I had time I would report them to the better business bureau, I'm tempted but someone likely already has but doesn't use yelp. Lesson learned read more

My sister is a client of theirs. She had purchased a Groupon for one consultation & 3deep tissue massages because I have severe sciatica. I missed the first massage due to a flare up, they told me I forfeit that one but still have two more. They call me 2hrs before my appointment to cancel on me. I say that's fine but since you guys aren't giving me 24hr notice like you guys required may I have my first appointment back. She says she let me speak to the owner/doctor. He wouldn't even get on the phone. She tells me he said NO. They lost me as a potential client & my sister is now looking for a new doctor. SMH read more

I purchased a promotional coupon from a salesperson that came into my work and thought I would try out Dr. Newman's office. I usually go to spas and get massages, so I wasn't sure what to expect -- I was pleasantly suprised! A sidenote, if you're looking for a froo-froo massage with a fire place and iced fruit water, this isn't the place, which was fine! It's a clinic, but I still left feeling euphoric and relaxed, and Katy provided me with a bottle of water with explicit instructions to drink more when I got home. I felt like this was more of a therapeutic and holistic experience overall. I noticed that the Sofia, the previous reviewer, had a massage in 2008, but Katy, the therapist I saw, is a recent addition to the team and she was great and very knowlegdable! She has strong, yet gentle hands and was very intuitive. I broke my tibia about twenty ago, and she was able to point that out, which nobody else has done before, and I've had many massages. I also have an on-going issue with my lower back and this is the first time I went to sleep without any pain. I'll definitely be going back! I should also note that I don't remember a Diana at the front desk, but there is a woman named Michelle and she's very nice! :o) Thank again Katy!!! read more

Awful customer service and no ethics! They cancel appointments without any reason and when you call back they don't reschedule saying that only their masseuse Heidi will reschedule those appointments. They finally left a message and when I called back Alisha the worst person with no manners aggressively said we called you with several options and you didn't call back in time so now I have my notes here saying that you shouldn't be rescheduled and that your Groupon package is considered expired. I had never heard of anything like this before in my life. I asked that in which world if a person returns a call after 2 days, the business decides that now they will not honor their obligation. To that, she said, "you already redeemed 2 massages with your Groupon package (I had bought a package of 3, and a regular massage is $ 75; you paid far less than the combined value of three massages and have already received more value than you paid for and we cannot reschedule. This is the worst experience I have ever had and I am still aghast that how can a legit business do something like this. I tried to contact Groupon but they do not have this Groupon anymore so I couldn't leave a review. Beware!! read more

Worst in Customer service. I called trying to setup an appointment and as soon as I mentioned Groupon, the receptionist Sara started being rude and gave me a hard time setting up the appointment. Well, Dr. Newman might be a good Chiropractor which I could not find out, but the fact that his staff is so difficult to work with, shows that no patient will like to keep a long term relation with this facility. Most of the areas (neck, back pains etc) of this doc's practice need a long term patient/doc commitment - What a shame when a Chiropractor does not get an opportunity to be judged by his own service but instead his staff/receptionist's poor behavior reflects him. Big disappointment ! read more

I gave them a one because that's the lowest they can get. This outfit should get negative numbers for a review. There is a big dog and pony show with lots of delays (several weeks)before you even get to his sales pitch. I was in pain and needed help so I advanced him over $1600 for services. He is always in a big hurry running between rooms to treat multiple people at the same time. I told him I had ligament problems but he disregarded that and treated my injured area very roughly. Every time he treated me he hurt me. Three times I was shocked with his ice and stimulation. When I had enough I went in and told him I wasn't coming back for treatment and wanted a refund of the unused advance. About a month later I went back in and threatened to sue him. I finally received a check several weeks later. It wasn't what it should have been but I just wrote it off to dealing with an under capitalized outfit with no integrity. read more

Dr. Newman has helped me get my active lifestyle back! I had severe pain in my shoulder and neck that prevented me from playing softball and mountain biking and really any activities. I had never had the kind of pain my shoulder caused and swore I need surgery. My wife talked me into see the dr because she used him. We went through an exam and did a couple exercises and said he could help with physical therapy and adjustments. I felt instant pain relief from the adjustments but the physical therapy is what really helped. Within 6 months I was 75%better and back out mountain biking regularly. Excellent, excellent care! Dr. Newman took me in on a" last minute I need to see someone now" type appointment. It was late on a Friday of a holiday weekend, and never once did I feel like I was inconveniencing him at all. There was no rush and I got the best care and treatment ever. I knew I was going to need quite a few appointments to fix the issues in my low back. Dr Newman and I agreed upon a treatment plan that was pretty intense to get me back to work and get my life back. Through weeks of adjustments, PT and icing - I feel better than I have in years! I have seen my share of chiropractors and I know the difference between someone just collecting their $40 "adjustment" fee and someone that actually treats the problem. Many people don't believe in the practice of chiropractic - but I guarantee you that without Dr. Newman I would be in the endless rut of PT, high dose ibuprofen, cortisone shots and who knows - probably eventually surgery. Dr. Newman and his office is as good as it gets! Five Stars earned over and over again. read more

I have never been to the chiropractor. However, my wife purchased a discount gift certificate for massage for me at this facility. I had a great experience, Katy was great. I felt great after the massage as well. In the past when i have had deep tissue massages, they have hurt bad after the massage. I would definitely go back sometime. The reason i have not added the 5th star was that, the session for the client before me went much over my appointed time and i was waiting in the office wondering why it was delayed. Katy apologized for keeping me waiting. I was also in no hurry that day. It was nice to have them call me and remind me about my appointment. I have not had any robo calls or follow up calls either. read more

I have always enjoyed getting a full body massage. Due to my neck, back and arm pain due to my computer work, the massage therapist, Delores, has done wonders to help relieve the pain and tightness in my muscles. She always remembers what areas of my body that give me the most problem, but always asks me first how I am feeling and what are my current issues. She is just amazing and I always say 'she has hands of steel', as she works all those knots out with such a gentle and caring touch. She is very friendly and makes me feel comfortable. She has helped me for about 2 years now, and I look forward to my massage. The office also offers a Rub Club for the folks like me who want a guaranteed monthly massage, and I have been a member during this time. Of course, I schedule additional massages if I need them. The office staff are also very helpful, friendly and call me with a reminder each time. The staff greet me when I walk in, and I always feel welcome in the office. I recommend highly.
