I used to love it here, but things have changed…read more I give 5 stars for every person who works here, from the receptionists, dental assistants, dental hygienists, and dentist. Everyone there deserves 5 stars for being kind and patient people. My issue lies with the scheduling and wait time for each appointment. I have had two appointments cancelled by them last minute in the last two years (I only seen them 2x a year). When I get in for an apt I've had to wait over an hour before being seen at least 2 times in the last two years. Today was my last straw. I sat in the chair for 45 minutes with no updates- asked for an update then they said they'd numb me and come back in 10 minutes to begin. After another 45 minutes with no updates now numb I asked for an update. After 1:40 minutes of not being seen I walked out numb with no services done. I am really disappointed because they are a great team, I just don't have a flexible schedule to wait around. When I addressed this they said they are really busy on Saturdays. If that's the case then respectfully then they need to schedule less patients or hire more people to work here that shouldn't be a patients fault. I genuinely wish them the best but I will not be back.

Went to OC Smiles on Friday 3/13/26 for a loose implant because my dentist is closed on Fridays…read more Helena was great and the only good thing i will have to say about my experience. I didn't need a diagnosis, since I told the dentist that my implant was loose. He decided to take a ct scan, charge me for it and charge me for his false "diagnosis." $290 later.. he told me I need a New crown and wanted me to pay $2900 to return for 2 more visits to "fix" it. I Declined his outrageous treatment plan, knowing my implant was just loose. I waited until Monday with no problems and went to my dentist Dr. John Vartanian (Newport Beach) who did the implant for me. He tightened the screw and I was out of there in 10 minutes for free. I believe SoCal Smiles owes me $290 back for their unnecessary scan and incorrect diagnosis. They were trying to sell me something I didn't need and I'm quite upset about how this was handled when I brought it to their attention. I would go elsewhere and not trust this place with your time or money.

I recently had my old silver fillings replaced with white fillings and the whole experience was way easier than I expected. Gina has such gentle hands, made me feel super comfortable, and even the numbing shots weren't nearly as bad as I remembered. The office experience has been great too. Everyone is always so welcoming and friendly, and the office itself is clean, comfortable, and has a really nice atmosphere. From the moment I walk in, I feel taken care of. Definitely glad I made the switch!

I've always been wanting to get composite bonding for my two front teeth when I got my braces off…read more I finally decided to do it and went to three places for consultation. Not only did Dr. Gina beat the other places in price, she is really sweet and understanding. You never feel intimidated asking questions, which I really appreciate since I'm more on the timid side. I ended up getting veneers instead of composite bonding. A lot of places will try to upsell you and have you do 6-8 teeth, but Dr. Gina recommended I only do two teeth since I'm young. She keeps up with modern technology. We did a mock up of the teeth and the veneers are made in a lab. The technology she uses also tells her how much to shave off. My veneers blend seemlessly, not bulky and the color is an exact match. The time I came to try my veneers, I asked for more of a rounded shape, and they sent it back to add more, which I really appreciate. Overall I am highly satisfied and would recommended Dr. Gina for your veneers. Ps: I also got my teeth whitened and did new retainers here. All in one place. :)

After that they did my screening and charged me $300. Told me that was the fee for the flouride and xrays which weren't covered only my usual cleaning. WHICH NOBODY MENTIONED prior to me sitting down in the chair. It would be ideal to maybe run my insurance and mention to me that these xrays to fix the smallest crack on my tooth were not covered? I'm one of those people that actually really enjoys going to the dentist, however, when COVID-19…read morereared its ugly head, my comfort level definitely diminished and I skipped a few cleanings because of it. Recently, I had accidentally bit into a foreign object that made its way into my takeout order and I was experiencing some pain. Just to be safe and to be sure that nothing horrible happened, I booked a much needed cleaning and checkup. Now, I've been a germaphobe even before COVID, so seeing all the precautionary measures Dr. Chen was implementing for the safety of her and her patients gave me a little sigh of relief. 1) Appointments are staggered so there's nobody in the waiting room at the same time. 2) Deep sanitation of the equipment and chairs before patients are seen. 3) Dr. Chen wears a lot of PPE (gloves, goggles, face masks, face shields, covers, wraps things in plastic, etc.) 4) Minimal need to touch anything inside the office outside of the things necessary for your procedure. I was in and out with x-rays and my cleaning in a jiff. Luckily nothing bad happened and I was just experiencing some temporary soreness from my food mishap. Because of her protocols, I'd feel safe going back for regular checkups in the future regardless of being vaccinated or not. Thanks, Dr. Chen!
