I'm one of those people that actually really enjoys going to the dentist, however, when COVID-19 reared its ugly head, my comfort level definitely diminished and I skipped a few cleanings because of it. Recently, I had accidentally bit into a foreign object that made its way into my takeout order and I was experiencing some pain. Just to be safe and to be sure that nothing horrible happened, I booked a much needed cleaning and checkup. Now, I've been a germaphobe even before COVID, so seeing all the precautionary measures Dr. Chen was implementing for the safety of her and her patients gave me a little sigh of relief. 1) Appointments are staggered so there's nobody in the waiting room at the same time. 2) Deep sanitation of the equipment and chairs before patients are seen. 3) Dr. Chen wears a lot of PPE (gloves, goggles, face masks, face shields, covers, wraps things in plastic, etc.) 4) Minimal need to touch anything inside the office outside of the things necessary for your procedure. I was in and out with x-rays and my cleaning in a jiff. Luckily nothing bad happened and I was just experiencing some temporary soreness from my food mishap. Because of her protocols, I'd feel safe going back for regular checkups in the future regardless of being vaccinated or not. Thanks, Dr. Chen! read more

Still making this drive to OC every six months to get my teeth cleaned by Dr Chen. Service is still excellent. If you are afraid of going to the dentist, come to Dr Chen. Her calm demeanor and voice always have a way to take away my nervousness. Her beautiful smile makes you want to do teeth whiting and Invisalign with her so you can get the same perfect set of teeth and smile like hers. She now has a new fancy machine that scans your entire mouth so you can see, in real time, all the areas that need attention. As she is showing my coffee-stained teeth, and areas with food particles, I'm seeing why I need to floss my teeth and clean my teeth regularly to prevent cavities that are starting to form or gum swelling. I found Dr. Chen's info through my insurance and I am so glad I did. She has a small office which means you are the only patient there which I like because sometimes other dentists can be so busy with so many patients at the same time. I came in for a new patient evaluation and she did all the X-rays, 3D scan, cleaning and examination all in one appointment! Her and Patty (the receptionist) make a good team and I'm glad I have a great dentist to go to! Can't wait to get my invisalign started with her! read more

I was immediately impressed with Dr. Ginnie Chen and thrilled to have found her! She is very pleasant, friendly, and takes great effort to educate, inform, and perform the treatments gently and with care. My original dentist in Newport Beach was high priced and most visits were negative than positive on even basic procedures. I constantly felt lost and confused over my treatment and care. All this changed when I switched to Dr. Ginnie and I couldn't be more relieved. From the moment of arrival, the front desk experience is friendly and prompt, not to mention the extra attention given to explain the insurance aspects and etc. This is an office that knows what you need and is willing to take the time to explain and provide you with confidence. Then Dr. Ginnie takes over and is entirely involved from start to finish, and her tools are as modern as her skills are polished. She detected improvements that I could benefit from that my other dentist never even noticed, and she explained in detail every aspect of the treatment process. It was pleasant and easy, not to mention stress free. I highly stand by my recommendation and look forward to my next visit - something I never said before about my other dentists! I've seen Dr. Ginnie Chen now several times and she has always proven to be very caring and professional. I used to call on Physicians years ago while with Parke Davis; I have also had many encounters and experiences with doctors over a +60 year life. My professional experiences as well as my own care and for that of family and friends. So I can see and tell when a doctor is actually just going through the motions but they don't necessarily really care about you. In the case of Dr Chen she is the real deal. I bought a Living Social deal to have my teeth whitened at Dr. Chen's. I must say, I was terribly disappointed with the results. Four months later, the whitening has definitely subsided drastically and therefore, I don't think it was worth it. The whiteness started diminishing even within a month and a half after. Dr. Chen uses the Sapphire Chairside Whitening and I must tell you--it hurts! Throughout the rest of the day, my teeth were zipping and zapping. They're so-called "zingers" and just these shoots of pain that randomly occur. I know it says that this whitening system is "ideal for anyone looking for immediate results" but I didn't even see that much of a whitening difference in the next couple of days after. While Dr. Chen was nice and cordial, I would say save your money and just get some Crest 3D Whitestrips, the professional effects one. I've used them before and the whiteness lasts much longer than this pricey Sapphire Chairside Whitening did. read more

I've been coming here for years. The receptionist Andrea is always really friendly and helpful. As for the doctor. I've been to a few dentist before and always dread going. One because they always hurt me and two because they always wanted to add on more work or say I needed something done and third is because it was always an all day thing. They alway make you wait for an hour in the waiting room then another hour inside because the doctor has 10 different patients at once. NOT HERE!! I've never had to wait. They always schedule one patient at a time so you feel like all her attention is on you and I love that. She has never tried and tell me to get more work done than what I needed. She is always so gentle and nice. I'm never in horrible pain and she makes sure your comfortable. I'm always happy to go get my cleaning and check up. Office is always really clean. I'm in and out with in an hour usually. I love my dentist :) read more

Unlike other dentists who surrounded themselves with an army of hygenists/sales staff, Dr. Chen performs even the most routine services herself. It's clear that she's focused on earning her patients loyalty and referrals by delivering quality dental services vs. through the sales of cosmetic procedures and other non-essential products/services. As for those reviews based on the Livingsocial.com promotion ... Consider the fact that 99% of those who purchase a Living Social voucher wait until the last minute to redeem them (Including me). WIth that said, I expected the standard minimum level of service that often accompanies a Living Social promotion but was pleasantly surprised when found myself not being constantly up-sold or treated as if I was an obligation. Instead I left feeling that she appreciated my giving her the chance to earn my business. An "old school" approach that you don't see much of these days. Most people are afraid if not terrified of going to the dentist 'cause they didn't know about Dr. Chen. Dr. Chen is gentle, and she will get right to the point of taking care good care of your dental needs. So with her advice and generous care, my teeth always get an A+ every single time I go in for my 6-mos. check-up! It has always been a pleasant visit to go there with a smile and very very very happy to say, "hi" to Andrea, bright and cheerful receptionist also. After Dr. Chen thoroughly examined and took care my teeth with her immaculate painless procedures, I am happy for thumb-up approval by her. After having a terrible experience with a previous Delta Dentist that was Premium (not PPO like they told me) and lied to me about what kind of dental work I needed...Dr Chen is a god send! Not only is she incredibly nice, as is her assistant and receptionist Andrea, but if you go in for a teeth cleaning and X Rays, that's what you will get. She will tell you honestly what you need to get done and nothing more. She is very helpful in giving you tips on how you can improve the health of your teeth, etc. Both she and Andrea are great at working with your schedule too. I work from 8:30 - 5 (sometimes 8 - 4:30) and they are always willing to find me a 4:30 appointment. And even if I'm getting a cavity filled which can be time-intensive, Dr Chen will still give me a 4:30 appointment if I need it. In a world of salesy dentists, Dr Chen is a rarity! I started going to Dr. Chen over 11 yrs ago. I was always terrified of dental work (since bad childhood experiences). Dr. Chen is exceptional in everything she does. She is gentle and kind while being thorough and professional. The office manager, Andrea is always friendly and on top of things. I don't think there has ever been an appointment where I waited more the a few minutes. I travel from Long Beach to Tustin to see Dr. Chen and now my finance' does too! I also purchased a Living Social deal for teeth whitening. I called the office twice, both time were unpleasant due to the apathetic and hostile receptionist. Dr. Chen may be a great dentist, but she needs to fire her receptionist. The first time I called was to make an appt. They were so booked in advance and my schedule was up in the air, so I told them I'd call back. I called the second time because my Living Social vouchers expired, which was my fault and I didn't expect to get the whitening treatment. However what typically happens when you buy a voucher (Groupon, Travelzoo, Yelp, etc.) and it subsequently expires is that you can use the amount you paid for the voucher (in this case $180) towards a service at the vendor. You've already paid, and they've already received your money. I was told that my vouchers expired, there was nothing they could offer me - basically that I was out $180. This sounds criminal to me, but I'm not an attorney. Luckily, I called Living Social, who also tried to call Dr. Chen's office. They were met with the same hostile receptionist, and was given the runaround. Living Social credited me the $180 for a future purchase, which I'm pleased with, but I wanted to warn others about the rude and questionable behavior of this office. read more

I just returned home after a cleaning. I went to this Dentist based on reviews on this site as well as other "gentle dentist" blogs. I concur Dr. Chen is very gentle and FAST which I love. She was patient with me, as I suffer from a "fear" of the dentist, and was very accommodating. I will happily return for my 6 month visit later this year. If you are not keen on dentists, I say give Dr. Chen a try and simply be upfront about your concerns and needs. read more

I have been going to Dr. Chen for years and can say with confidence, that she is the best dentist I have ever been to. She is gentle, honest and does not ever over-diagnose when it comes to treatments and procedures. In the past, I had always been anxiety-ridden about going to the dentist, but ever since I've been going to her, my fears and anxiety have completely dissipated . I have also had my teeth whitened a couple of times in her office and not only was I surprised by how dramatic the results were, but was very happy with the price. Her front office receptionist, Andrea, is always very friendly and accommodating if you need an appointment at the last minute. Great office and an ever better dentist. I had chipped my tooth and it was bothering me so I had Dr Chen take a look. She was expedient in buffing the edges so I didn't feel it anymore. Also told me I was grinding my back teeth and had me fitted with mouth guards. I was happy with the service and referred my parents which they then went in to have some work done. read more

I've been in Dr.Chen for 3 years. The first time I came here for a second opinion, because I went to another dentist who suggested me to do an implant.
