We've hired Newark Tree Service a couple of times, to plant new trees and to trim the existing ones on our property. We're very happy with their work. Miguel is easy to work with and offers great advice for tree care. read more

I had amazing service, commication and swift service with Newark Tree Service. I would highly recommend them for tree services. I had a tree removed from my sidewalk, a piece of cement removed, and they replaced the old tree with a new tree. I thought this might take months but they got it done in about a month or less. read more

Miguel and his team did an amazing job for us! We had a removal for a dead tree and bush, as well as trimming for another larger tree. Miguel was very courteous and professional from the moment of contact. He's very knowledgeable about different species of trees, as well as Fremont City requirements. He drafted the service in detail and did an excellent job of communicating and ensuring the client's priorities were met. The price quoted was also very reasonable, compared to other vendors. We requested a much earlier date for the removal, and he was able to squeeze us into the timeframe. He also submitted the permit and the city's reimbursement documents. He made the whole process extremely easy and smooth. Excellent service and highly recommend! read more

It was a pleasure working with Miguel. He was knowledgeable and made recommendations based on the trees growth unlike a few others who wanted to cut everything for the sake of it. He replace 2 of my trees. All seamless. When there was an issue he made it right and covered the cost. Hard to find customer focused folks these days but Miguel nailed it!!! I plan to continue this partnership in the years to come!! read more

Miguel is very knowledgeable, honest, and fair. He definitely knew the trees in my yard. What was going to with and what had to go. We came up with a plan and set a date for the work to be completed. His dad used to work on my folks' trees years ago and now his son has taken over. Fair priced for his experience and the fact that he is licensed & bonded. I'm having read more

Very professional, I like how well they trimmed my huge tree. On time and everything. The price quoted is very fair. The cleanup is also great. It was like nothing happened, just the tree is in the condition I like. read more

I highly recommend Newark Tree Service. Recently I required tree pruning, trimming or removal of several large trees on my property including fruit trees, flowering trees, bonsai & my street tree. Miguel was very responsive & gave me a good & fair price plus a lot of good advice on my trees during the estimate meet. On the day of my appointment to have the work done, his crew showed up & Miguel soon followed. All the trees were so beautifully trimmed, pruned or removed beyond my expectations & the crew left my yards so clean & neat I was happily surprised. Miguel & his crew even went the extra mile for me & trimmed an additional small tree plus hauled away a lot bush cuttings I'd left in a pile. Superb job, attention to detail, really listened to my wishes, great advice, on time, responsive. All the bases covered & I'm really happy with the results! Thank you Newark Tree Service! read more

Miguel came out on the same day I called for an urgent situation concerning a tree. It was removed and the remaining trees were trimmed. They ground the stump by hand. I highly recommend this tree service above all others I've used. Caring, efficient and clean! Everything you want with someone working on your property! read more

Miguel and his team recently worked on the massive trees I have on my property and we are so thrilled at the wonderful job they did. Miguel understood what we wanted, was knowledgeable and provided the guidance we needed. I even decided last minute to remove a pesky tree that we never liked and was located in a tough spot to access - the guys removed the tree by hand and if you look now you cannot tell a tree was even there This group of guys work so well together, worked hard all day and did a fantastic job clearing everything out when they were done. Most importantly, the trees look awesome. They are shaped, made smaller and thinned out in a way appropriate for their future growth and health. I highly recommend using Miguel and Newark Tree Service! read more

We needed our trees trimmed in our backyard and we remembered the great service we received almost 15 years ago and did not hesitate to call Newark tree service. Once again they provided great service and exceptional quality work our yard looks amazing thank you! read more

Been using Newark Tree Service for 12 years and never thought to put in a review for them. Miguel Leyva and his team are the best in the business. And besides the tree trimming they are also a great bunch of guys. They work primarily on referrals but if this helps them a little, great. Newark Tree Service shows up on time. They work fast and they clean up after themselves. They even moved my backyard furniture out of the way and put it back in place when they were done. The schedule is booked up months in advance but you won't regret the wait. They treat your home, yard and trees like their own leaving healthy trimmed trees behind to live many more years. Thank you Miguel for all the great work your team has done for me these past 12 years. read more

We engaged Newark Tree Service (NTS) to (1) remove/grind a big cluster of palms and a bottlebrush tree and (2) prune two trees: an ash and a flowering pear. The ash had never been pruned and had become heavy and bushy; limbs had broken in strong winds. The flowering pair had not been pruned in decades and had developed three lobes; it was a very tricky pruning task. Miguel and his team did a great job, exceeding my expectations. Tree pruning is tricky and a weak team can ruin a tree. Miguel's crew is led by another Miguel ("Miguel Dos") who was smart, articulate, and expert at his craft. Hats off to the whole team. Miguel is now my go-to tree service. When we received bids, I thought that NTS's estimate was high; now I realize that I received great value for money. I'm lucky that I found them and wasn't in a hurry to have the work done immediately...which might have limited my choices to lesser arborists. read more

Happy to recommend Newark Tree Service and Miguel. He responded promptly to my inquiry, showed up when he said he would to give me an estimate and discuss options, came through with a timely written quote, and brought his crew over on the day and time promised. Reliability and punctuality can be so hard to come by, but these guys were PHENOMENAL. Add reasonable prices and a great clean up job and I'll be sure to return next time I need tree work. We had trees pruned, trees removed, and stumps ground out. Thank you, Miguel! read more

Miguel and his team were on time, professional, kind, and clean. I especially appreciate his ability to communicate in a personable and human way, listening carefully to my concerns, and generally just being a nice person. I'm especially impressed that he came back three different times during the day to check on the progress of the tree removal, as it was a big job. This was a special tree to me, which I didn't want to remove, but he was very empathetic when discussing with me, clearly presenting a logical case and helping with permitting as needed. He is there with you to help advise and make the right decisions for your home and provided his exceptional services for a reasonable price. I highly recommend Miguel and his team. read more

As a certified arborist, Miguel knows his trees! He came to advise us on possible replacements for our dying Cypresses, but quickly evaluated that they could be salvaged. While he was here, he surveyed our property, observed the dead tree that my husband has been trying to take down himself, little by little :), and provided info on the maturation and life cycle of our trees and how placement of current or new trees would affect other plant and tree growth in our yard. Miguel gave us a reasonable price for the removal of two, and he and his team came at the designated time and date and finished in a few hours. Professional, knowledgeable, affordable, easy, and quick! We look forward to him treating our browning Cypress trees! read more

Although my project was completed on August 19, 2024, I got time now to write this review. I initially searched and got the information on this company on City of Fremont website for approved tree service contractors. It gave me some confidence as City approves it. I then contacted the number provided for NTS. The gentleman picked up the phone and quickly set up the date and time for on-site project estimation. Interestingly the gentleman told me that he does not work during the weekend and that gave me a special impression. Later I met Miguel during the estimation and quote visit. I had one side-walk high palm tree full of dead leaves and a dead perch tree in the back yard. He gave good explanation on the best approaches and how he would conduct the project. His price quote was also very reasonable as compared to the ones given by other contractors. He seems very knowledgable on what he is doing and on all tree related topics. On the day of the project, he and his team not only arrived promptly, but about 10 minutes ahead of the scheduled time. Miguel introduced the team and explained time to finish the project. The team worked very professionally and finished the project on time. They took and processed all the debris and left nothing but a clean site. I gave 5 stars to this company and Miguel. I hope to use them in my future tree service needs. read more

I have been using Newark Tree Service for over 20 years to service my huge tree in the backyard in winter. The company comes to my house yearly to prune and shape the big tree. The crew is very skillful and professional. After pruning the tree looks so nice. The tree provides a nice canopy in summer. They clean up the area every time they finished the job. I highly recommend the company if you need an expert to look after your big tree. read more

We've used Newark Tree Service for several years. Based on recommendations from other nearby residents, I called Miguel and have always been more than satisfied with his company's work. We have three trees that are especially problematic; a willow, a pepper tree and an orange tree. He also advises our neighbor on their dogwood tree that overhangs our garden. Each year, Miguel personally comes to survey the situation and advises me on what he thinks is the best approach for trimming our trees and helping them grow successfully for the long term. His people are well trained, with all the right safety equipment, and work well as a team. Miguel comes after the job is complete and does a quality assurance check. Highly recommend Newark Tree Service. read more

We had Miguel and his team remove several Italian Cypress trees from our yard. Overall, his team did a fantastic job; we are very satisfied. They were very professional, arriving on time, working quickly, and communicating progress throughout the project. Miguel was also helpful in the lead-up to the job, sharing how the trees would be removed and providing a proposal outlining the project scope and what would/wouldn't be included. I've had mixed results with other tree services in the area and was pleasantly surprised with these guys' professionalism and service level. I'm looking forward to working with them again in the future. read more

One of the best contractors I've worked with: professional, knowledgeable, and customer-minded. I was referred to Miguel via my neighbors who have been working with the company for decades and I was so impressed when I first met them that I didn't bother with getting additional quotes for the work like I usually would. The company and the crew do outstanding work and I don't have to worry about anything when they are here. One tip for others is to definitely get on their schedule quickly as they are always booked out in advance. read more

Miguel with Newark Tree Service always does an amazing job on our trees. The trees look perfect; never a branch out of place. You can drive through the neighborhood and you can tell which trees Miguel and his crew have cut. When the job is done the yard is cleaned up and you would never know that they had been trimming trees all day unless you look up at the perfectly cut trees read more

Miguel and his team are very professional and reasonably priced. Miguel is very friendly and responsive. A tree got blown over by the storm, Miguel came out same day and inspected all the trees for safety. He is very knowledgeable. The team also did an amazing clean up job afterwards. We have been doing business with Miguel and crew for years. They are punctual, efficient, fun and happy to share their lunch with me. We have had many laughs in between the seriousness of trimming my trees under the electric wires yearly. I also enjoy having his dad come and help trim my grapevines. There is nothing they have not been able to do for us. Luisa read more

I've been using Newark Tree Services since 1990 to handle my trees and giant oleanders for my own house and my rental. They are really good in being on time, being consistent, and keeping things looking clean; and in being really really knowledgable about trees and what works and what doesn't work. I been referring friends to them for years. I hate to give a review to let others know and potentially crowd me out since they have been word of mouth all these years and staying busy, but times are different and it sounds like they are finally coming around to the 21st century in having an online presence. They're on the City of Fremont list now and I want to support them in letting folks know that although Miguel doesn't have a lot of online history, he has a genuine real world history of doing good affordable work in Fremont for me. Glad to let the world in on one of the best kept arborist secrets around. read more

Among the city's approved contractors, Newark Tree Service may not be the lowest priced. But Miguel was a joy to work with. He kept all his promises. He was professional, and communication was timely and accurate, from the evaluation and quote, to the paperwork after the job, spanning almost one month. They don't have a fancy Web site, or tons of reviews online. So you can be more confident that this review is genuine. read more

Newark Tree Service cut down a medium pine tree at my home on May 5, 2023. In the process a smaller nearby tree was damaged with broken branches just left hanging there to die. Also my rain gutter got damaged and now leaks. In addition two of my patio blocks got broken. I supplied replacements from my side yard which NTS was supposed to return new ones to me which I have yet to receive. Didn't expect my property to get damaged when I thought I hired a licensed, bonded professional!!! read more

5 STARS IS NOT ENOUGH!!!! What a great team!!! This week was the 2nd time Miguel & his crew came to my rental in the Niles area to do some tree work. He topped several cypresses a few years ago. Left them looking great! So I knew who to call for help with damage after the January storm. Monday Miguel, his crew and, lucky for us, his dad came to remove a large limb and put a brace on the remaining part of a 100 year old Cedar tree as well as remove a dead Cypress that had a 45 year old tiny rose bush and 30 year old bougainvillea totally wrapped around it. Both flowering vines looked like they had been given steroids for 30 years!!! The tiny yellow roses were like a huge 10 foot ball. The Cypress had fallen over and had landed on a baby plum. It was AMAZING to watch as they went up a 15 ft. ladder then climb up into the canopy 30 or 40 feet up the Cypress to put in the bracing cable. Totally Awesome!!! Both trees created a lot of wood & wood chips, however, they cleaned up the yard so well you wouldn't of known it. Miguel was so professional, pleasant and friendly. It was such a pleasure to see them work. I was charged a very reasonable price for the complicated and difficult work that was done. Thank you, Miguel for a fabulous job, I look forward to the next time. And I'll see you when it's time to check on the bracing. PS. It was such a pleasure to chat with you about the history of such a sweet old house and the area. You are a great listener! read more

We have used Newark Tree Service for decades. Excellent work with dedicated employees. When the huge grass fire reached the border of our ranch the fire department told us that we had defensible space because the vegetation was cut back properly, our roof was fire proof and the trees around buildings was trimmed properly. Thanks to Newark Tree Service we had a safe area around our property and the 3 fire departments that worked together to save our ranch had proper clearance within which to work. read more

I have used Newark Tree Service for a number of years for tree trimming. Miguel has always been kind, professional and fair. He and his crew do a great job. I have been a client of Newark Tree Service for at least twenty years. In the early years, I had them prune trees and lots of hedges and lots of roses once or twice per year, and I would maintain the shrubs the rest of the year. In the past few years, however, I have had them maintain my garden on a monthly basis. I have counted on them to do a lot of planting over the years as well as install and repair drip irrigation. And when I need to freshen the redwood bark mulch and the gravel in my garden, I arrange for the mulch and gravel to be delivered, and Newark Tree Service does the hard work of distributing the ground cover. Miguel has pursued an impressive amount of training in tree pruning and maintenance. He and his team are extremely reliable and very friendly. And my yard, I think, is the best-looking one on the street. read more

Miguel and his crew are simply the best. Prompt, reasonably priced, and super neat. After they have paid us a visit, I know we will have no additional cleanup to do. They have been doing out tree trimming (2 large trees and numerous smaller trees and bushes) since Miguel's father ran the company. I appreciate their service and thoroughness. read more

Miguel and his crew are FANTASTIC. They have come to our place in San Leandro annually for the last several years, pruning the same 5-6 trees during each visit. Over the last decade, additional jobs that they have performed have included the removal of diseased trees and the repair and upgrading of a pathway on one side of our home, with the (beautiful) result being a functional and attractive crushed granite path (which our dog also happens to enjoy as an occasional dog run). Miguel's knowledge of proper care for trees is terrific, and every one of his team members is highly competent and friendly. The entire group has consistently done GREAT work, and each and every job has always included a thorough clean-up of the area. The prices charged are very reasonable and in line with the level of difficulty of the work that has been performed. We are BEYOND pleased, and will continue to work with Newark Tree Service in the years to come. read more
