I hate to give negative reviews to a local business, but I had really bad experiences lately…read more Surly, uncaring customer support, who today gladly had me overpay $30 for my trip. 5 different reps, zero f-cks to give! Couldn't even pretend to care! "Customer Contempt" department. My last trip broke down and was 4 hours late. And just as "icing" in the cake, today's bus home reeks of sh-t. This bus is only in emergencies for me now, and even then.. Please NY, bring us some better public transportation!!

The general experience of travelings with Trailways has declined steadily in the last few years,…read morebut a few really awful things stand out about the Kingston station location in my most recent experiences: - Station closes before last bus arrives. This causes a few problems. On my last trip (from Kingston to NYC), it was 22F out, the last bus was running late, and the station attendant closed the station and kicked everyone out into the cold outside. This is unsafe, especially if there had been elderly passengers with health issues. This is the result of Trailways NOT WANTING TO PAY to keep the station open with a worker. The station used to be open before the first bus arrived (mornings) and after the last one departed (evenings). This presents a safety hazard to elderly passengers when the temps are that low. You can't ask an 80 year old granny to wait outside in 22F. Trailways, what is wrong with you. Next, closing the station early makes it impossible to get a parking pass for the parking lot. Because you need an attendant to issue the pass for your windshield. When I call their customer support, their answer is "take an earlier bus if you need a pass". That's an answer from a company taking my money to get me where I'm going? Closing the station early (before last bus arrives) also creates another safety problem. I've had the experience where a heavy snow storm rolled in and dropped a ton of snow. The Trailways Kingston lot had not been plowed . The office was closed. No one to call for help or alert them that their lot was NOT plowed and no one could get their car out. I dug my car out (had a shovel in the car) and had AWD and good undercar clearance, so I could get out. I used my car to make tracks for other passengers who did not have AWD to get their cars out. Trailways staff meanwhile....nowhere to be found and no way to reach them since they don't post a number for the station and there's no one in the office when it's closed. - Station still closed before the first morning buses depart. Thus you can't buy a ticket or get a parking pass. You can buy a ticket in advance online, but how can you can a parking pass if the Kingston station is closed. You need an attendant for that. Trailways, do you actually want customers? Do you care? - Parking pass, when you can even get one, is now valid for only 3 days instead of the 6 days that it had been issued for in the past. Again, are you just trying to make it harder for passengers to use your service? - Incorrect info on website - When you search for a bus from Kingston to NYC the site returns results for Woodstock or New Jersey. If you don't carefully check the location (in smaller text), you might buy the wrong ticket. Why does the site return locations that were not in any way part of your search. You have to double check everything. NEVER worked like this before. Poor coding of the site. I stopped using Trailways for a few months because the experience had just become too frustrating (having to bend my schedule to the dwindling hours of the station). I took a trip this week and it reminded me of ALL the reasons I don't use Trailways. When I mentioned this to my fellow passengers in Kingston, they said it had been this way for months and is getting worse (buses arriving over 30 min late, not arriving AT ALL, website and 10 pack tickets getting harder to use, prices fluctuating wildly). Do yourself a favor, find another way to get to NYC from Kingston.

It's their business, their reputation on the line. I was looking for a car service last minute, the night before my flight yesterday, to take me from La Guardia to a friend's home 1 1/2 hrs away in Montgomery. I called CAR24. Mike was super prompt in returning my text at 11:00pm, assured me he had availability and we'd touch base in the morning. True to his word, we booked the car in the morning and he gave me a very competitive rate. Didn't tack on last minute fees. Done, texted confirmation number. Gave me name of my driver, Allison, who touched base 5 min later with her cell number. Super prompt, funny and friendly, riding with Allison was a pleasure. A key thing to note: take your cues from the client. She didn't start chatting until I did. I'm from New Orleans and work in the hospitality industry there, handling conventions with 10,000-30,000 in attendance. I book about 250 private car service for clients a year. There are a few key things that are expected from a private car service that are unbendable: reliability, communication, cleanliness and polite manners in drivers, who understand it's not about them it's about the client. Likewise from a client: tip the driver and tip in cash. If you get good service, show it by tipping more than 20% of the fare. In our industry, there is nothing worse than a rude passenger and a bad tipper. Home run for CAR24. Allison even stopped at CVS so I could run in and grab something. Thank you!!! MaryBeth

They are very reliable. It was great service with a smile. It was a smooth ride in both directions.read more

Windows are filthy but I prefer to ride the train than buses if I chose not to drive so I can relax. However, on this particular occasion I was well aware that the train is fully booked and so I made the next seat available to others just in case. I preferred to seat in the aisle so I made sure my other bag was on top of the luggage area and ni hindrances to the next seat beside me. I was sleeping when suddenly the conductor shake the back rest of my seat and loud voice helloooo- helllooo!!!! Telling me to move to the window seat so that this two passenger can be seated accross to each other, they are brother and sister but come on she's not a toddler to be watched!!! Shes on her 20's. I was annoyed because that is not a proper customer service!!! Be polite and act professional! Shaking my seat and for a big man with a loud voice that's not how you approach a sleeping paying customer. And yeah the sister of the brother who was seating across to me was sleeping the remaining of the travel whilst I was left feeling soooo annoyed!!! So for todays experience that I received I'm giving away my 0 star rating!

It's a wonderful trip up the Hudson and this station is wonderful. The taxi drivers that wait outside the station are patient for our train to arrive and are very friendly. The station is nice and has a cute waiting area. The ticket agent is friendly. Only thing is that the station is sort of in the middle of nowhere. But the taxis will take you anywhere, so that doesn't really matter. Definitely worth 5 stars. I would go above that if I could.

There is a large seating area and vending machines for purchases. During the day there are many people going in and out of this location. During the fall it is much busier. Everyone wants to go over the bridge and see the fall panoramic views. There is a bus stop outside with people waiting to go to local stops. There are free buses which go to Poughkeepsie, Marist, New Paltz, and other locations. The free buses only come a couple times per day so make sure to time everything accordingly. At night the station is mostly empty. There are several homeless people who stay outside. After nine the seating area is closed so you have to wait outside. The trains do run until 1 am. If you miss out on the last train you have to wait until the morning for your next trip. I would have liked longer hours here but it is what it is. I will continue stopping by here when I visit Poughkeepsie.

That's why I'm reviewing it today. I was appalled to see the elevator out of order at an Amtrak hub. How does that make sense when you know many people traveling on Amtrak are burdened with luggage. Add that to the fact that we just had a blizzard and navigating by foot is difficult enough The station platform was well salted, but there was nobody in sight to help the elderly with their bags. I was struggling myself with two suitcases and shopping bags from my visit to New York City. The only way from the platform to the station is up a flight of approximately 30 steps nearly straight up. Once to the top, you have to balance your suitcases so that you can pull the doors open by hand. It's regrettable that this station could be so spectacular. It was built at the turn of the 20th century I believe and could be a masterpiece. Instead, it looks like a didn't she, grungy throwback to the 70s. No place to buy a cup of coffee, no employees in sight, police are stationed outside, but there's nothing there but sad tired people This is really a shame because I love Amtrak and Amtrak should really raise their voice about how passengers are being treated at this station. It's appalling. No photographs because I was juggling so much luggage. I couldn't even get my phone out.
