A game-changer if you live in the city and want to explore this huge park (Harriman State Park),…read morebut don't have a car. We took the Metro-North Port Jervis train to get out of the city on Saturday and rode it up to the Tuxedo Train Station, and as soon as we got off the train, we saw the shuttle stand. It's actually inside the old train station, near the platform. The volunteer bus riders suggested the best trail for us (we had our dog and wanted to do an overnight, but didn't want to hike too far.) We ended up going on the red trail and staying at one of the old shelters and then catching the bus back on Sunday morning. There were a few other campers there the night we went but it didn't matter and it was a quality evening. The bus is reasonable (5/per person) and leaves right on time, the only dowside is the shelters aren't right on the water so you have to bring your own drinking water if you're staying overnight. But I might come back and just ride the bus through the park. It's really pretty and I take a lot of pictures, especially in the fall, and Harriman is really exceptional once the leaves start turning color. Until this shuttle started I had no idea how big Harriman park is but now I know. You can pick up trail maps right at the train station if you go on the weekend. There's also a large farmers market right in the parking lot when you get off the train so we brought peaches and apricots on the hike.

This did not materialize, and even though they will get $100,000 and more over the next several (from where?) years to cover the Citibus drivers going to UCAT, they are not happy. There solution is to reconfigure the A,B and C busses to Red, Yellow and Blue. These busses off substantially less coverage of Kingston, and thus far the maps issued are illegible except for times/schedules. UCAT paratransit, in addition, after refining its pickup to be more direct, is now regressing to its former offering of having UCAT pickup the disabled/senior clients, transporting them to Kingston Plaza, and hav[ng them take 2 or 3 busses to and from their destination, and this with often very heavy packages from the one free shopping trip they and this is freezing snowy weather. To atone for their sins, riding busses will be free in the city if Kingston from July 1 to December 31. Whoopee!

I booked this company to just go back and forth from the hotel to my wedding venue, which was only 5 minutes down the road. I was unaware of the situation until the next morning. Apparently the bus dropped off my guests to the venue twice (not to mention not even the times I gave them) and then disappeared. The bus was nowhere to be seen. I felt horrible telling my guests, don't worry the shuttle is coming, they should be running every 20 minutes. But they all had to pay for ubers since the transportation company I already paid for didn't show. And the driver said there was no where to park, but at my wedding venue there was a designated spot for the shuttle to wait before they had to run on the times I had given them. I was very upset, knowing this had happened at my wedding. My wedding planners then called them to let them know about the situation, and the company basically was very rude and blamed my planners for not getting the drivers cell phone number. But what if I didn't have wedding planners, who then would have to get the drivers cell phone number? Me the bride, that's a joke? I'm very upset with this service, company, and the people who work there and couldn't believe it had happened to me on my wedding night.

I hate to give negative reviews to a local business, but I had really bad experiences lately…read more Surly, uncaring customer support, who today gladly had me overpay $30 for my trip. 5 different reps, zero f-cks to give! Couldn't even pretend to care! "Customer Contempt" department. My last trip broke down and was 4 hours late. And just as "icing" in the cake, today's bus home reeks of sh-t. This bus is only in emergencies for me now, and even then.. Please NY, bring us some better public transportation!!

The general experience of travelings with Trailways has declined steadily in the last few years,…read morebut a few really awful things stand out about the Kingston station location in my most recent experiences: - Station closes before last bus arrives. This causes a few problems. On my last trip (from Kingston to NYC), it was 22F out, the last bus was running late, and the station attendant closed the station and kicked everyone out into the cold outside. This is unsafe, especially if there had been elderly passengers with health issues. This is the result of Trailways NOT WANTING TO PAY to keep the station open with a worker. The station used to be open before the first bus arrived (mornings) and after the last one departed (evenings). This presents a safety hazard to elderly passengers when the temps are that low. You can't ask an 80 year old granny to wait outside in 22F. Trailways, what is wrong with you. Next, closing the station early makes it impossible to get a parking pass for the parking lot. Because you need an attendant to issue the pass for your windshield. When I call their customer support, their answer is "take an earlier bus if you need a pass". That's an answer from a company taking my money to get me where I'm going? Closing the station early (before last bus arrives) also creates another safety problem. I've had the experience where a heavy snow storm rolled in and dropped a ton of snow. The Trailways Kingston lot had not been plowed . The office was closed. No one to call for help or alert them that their lot was NOT plowed and no one could get their car out. I dug my car out (had a shovel in the car) and had AWD and good undercar clearance, so I could get out. I used my car to make tracks for other passengers who did not have AWD to get their cars out. Trailways staff meanwhile....nowhere to be found and no way to reach them since they don't post a number for the station and there's no one in the office when it's closed. - Station still closed before the first morning buses depart. Thus you can't buy a ticket or get a parking pass. You can buy a ticket in advance online, but how can you can a parking pass if the Kingston station is closed. You need an attendant for that. Trailways, do you actually want customers? Do you care? - Parking pass, when you can even get one, is now valid for only 3 days instead of the 6 days that it had been issued for in the past. Again, are you just trying to make it harder for passengers to use your service? - Incorrect info on website - When you search for a bus from Kingston to NYC the site returns results for Woodstock or New Jersey. If you don't carefully check the location (in smaller text), you might buy the wrong ticket. Why does the site return locations that were not in any way part of your search. You have to double check everything. NEVER worked like this before. Poor coding of the site. I stopped using Trailways for a few months because the experience had just become too frustrating (having to bend my schedule to the dwindling hours of the station). I took a trip this week and it reminded me of ALL the reasons I don't use Trailways. When I mentioned this to my fellow passengers in Kingston, they said it had been this way for months and is getting worse (buses arriving over 30 min late, not arriving AT ALL, website and 10 pack tickets getting harder to use, prices fluctuating wildly). Do yourself a favor, find another way to get to NYC from Kingston.

I had just explained to my son the importance of arriving early because arriving on time makes you late(he wondered why we left the hotel early though we were only a couple of blocks away from McDonalds.) The unmarked bus was parked across the street in front of the Paramount building. We were in line for a different tour who was parked in front McDonalds who informed us that we were in line for the wrong tour and pointed to the unmarked bus. We still arrived on time. I then explained to my son that situations like this is why you arrive early. I had a ton of missed calls and was contacted by email but a sign of some sort would've helped(a magnetic sign on the driver and passenger doors, or a foldable sign that can be transported on the bus) as I noticed the bus from across the street(the same side as Applebees and Ellen's Stardust Diner) but had no way of identifying it.
