Dropped off a black tie dress to be cleaned. They lost my $700+ dress. He told me he needed 2 weeks to clean it, I came back to pick it up and he asked me if he could have more time to work on the stains at the bottom. I said yes just call me when it's done. Over a month passed and Raymond didnt call me. I called him to inquire about the status, and he said he'd look for it and could I call him back. I said no you call me back when you find it, you never found it. A day passed (and this is after the 6+ weeks he had it) and he didn't call me back. I went into the drycleaner shop . He said I didn't call you back because I didn't know what dress it was. Like seriously? Why didn't he call me then? I showed him a picture. It's a long white very dress with a fancy ruffled shoulder. After 20+ minutes of looking he came back with a blue cotton dress that looked nothing like this dress and they have no idea where it is. It's one thing to not get a stain out of a dress. However, to NOT call the customer to tell them when they promised he would when it was ready, to not communicate and not call the customer back when she calls to ask about the status, and to lose the dress is a whole different matter. The lady at the front is older and harder of hearing and Raymond is also older. They need to pass this business off to younger managers/ owners. This is awful. read more

It is hard to review a dry cleaner. Usually they all seem the same to me. You take your stuff in, you get it back cleaner and that it. Up until now my focus has been price and smell (you know, that chemical smell when they have used too much). After 30+ years of simply using the cheapest and closest, I tried this establishment mostly because they pick up and drop off at my building where I live. I thought this would be more convenient. Well nothing could be more from the truth. First there was the issue of getting my credit card correct, I seems to get a call several times because my card was rejected. It took a few time for them to get my information correct (okay I thought, there is the phone issue and the language issue so maybe its okay). But the kicker was when I did not get my clothes back on time. I waited for the next schedule drop off and when nothing arrived I called them to find out what was going on. "Oh yes," I was told, "we've lost your clothes." Ummm..... WHAT? That's right, They lost my clothes and did not even bother to call. It took me a week of calling for them to agree to pay me for the two shirts they claim they lost. Well, how the hell do I know if that is right, since I never counted what I sent. And no apologies, no phone calls, nothing. If I did not call them I don't think I would have ever heard from them. I see several reviews here about customer service. Well, I am sorry to report that I did not receive any inkling of service in my experience. Losing my clothes is terrible, but I will even give you that it is a possibility that we all have to accept (as hard as it is to swallow that pill). However, the lack of caring - no calls, no apologies, nothing -- that is unacceptable. My advice is, "buyer be ware" read more

I'm actually surprised no one else has reviewed this place. When I went in, they had a lot of business, so it's not like there isn't anyone that goes. Anyways, I went in with 2 shirts, 2 ties, 1 pair of pants, and 1 jacket. The total was a little over 28 bucks (including tax for everything), so I think the price is pretty fair. They did a very good job too. I had some wine stains on some of my clothes, so I wasn't sure if they could come out, but I got my clothes back almost looking like new. There were some marks on one of my darker color shirts, but it could be moisture or something, so we'll see if it airs out and goes away. All the work is done by them (they own their own factory, according to my receipt), and the people who work there are very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place. It seems like a lot of people in the Georgetown area already know about it, and I can see why. read more

Terrible service. Said I needed to drop by to 'introduce myself' before arranging for a pickup in the neighbourhood. I said I didn't drive and could introduce myself to the driver and also give more information about myself over the phone. The lady hung up one me twice when I was asking for more information. Used this cleaners for 8 years but the past 2 years the quality of service is reprehensible. Shirts routinely are returned with bridle and/or broken buttons. They will replace the buttons but does not try to match the original buttons with the replacement buttons. Of greater importance is the fact that this cleaners started returning shirts to me with stains on them. The owner tried to convince me I submitted the shirts with the stains instead of accepting accountability. The owner had the gall to attempt to charge me for the stain removal. Owner claimed there is no where in the process where a stain can be introduced since he sends it out to the laundering facility that washes and folds the shirts. Everyone knows most area cleaners use the mega facilities and the shirts are laundered together which is a ripe environment for colors to run which happened to another shirt of mine. Btw the owner attempted to charge me to get the bleed stain out. The first shirt was returned with a blood stain per the owner. The cleaners had my shirt for 3 months. Every weeks weeks I would inquire about the shirt and it was always "I'm working on it." To my last inquiry the owner replied he doesn't spend much time on the shirt which was clear since 3 months past. Owner would not take responsibility and pay for the shirt. read more

I used this place for a couple of months because they pick up and drop off at my building - which is populated by snobs, so I'd have thought they'd do a decent job. Instead, they shrank several expensive sweaters and returned them half-sized without any comment, as if I wasn't supposed to notice. Other items came back smelling like body odor (not mine). Some came back with spills still untouched; clearly nothing had been done to these at all. Upshot: if you hate your clothing, this is the dry cleaner for you. read more

I've only used them once for dry cleaning and it seemed pretty on par with every other dry cleaners I've been too. I've used them a couple of times for simple button repairs and fixing rips and they've been great. I will say they are little like a family, you gotta get to know them to love them. read more

I've lived in a lot of cities and NY Cleaners is my all time favorite dry cleaner. The cleanings and alterations are always spot on. The people are the real bonus. The WORST Cleaners EVER!!! They lose your clothing and care less if they find it, plus this cleaners is the most unorganized cleaners I have EVER seen. Clothes in piles on the floor EVERYWHERE!! Their attitudes could use an adjustment because they know absolutely nothing about customer service. I only wish I could give them a negative star rating. Would I recommend, absolutely not. I've gone to many many dry cleaners in the area. No one beats Mrs and Mrs Koh the owners. They bend over backwards for all their clients. I'm very accident prone when wearing cocktail dresses I often spill food and wine on my dress.I bring every "accident" to New York Dry Cleaners and they get the stain out. They hand clean each piece so everything comes out clean. I'm not saying they can get every stain out but they've gotten all my pieces cleaned. I also like using the tailoring services there Mrs Koh is a very gifted tailor and very reasonable. Pricing is slightly higher than other dry cleaners but far less than Parkway Dry Cleaners. It's worth it because all my clothes are cared for greatly and they really do the best job in the city. read more

Have been to a lot of cleaners in DC and New York Cleaners by far does the best job of getting out stains. And very friendly staff!!

I love this place, but mostly because I love the personalities of the people working here. I don't have complaints about the cleaning jobs, and when there has been a problem they've fixed it (even if the irascible Mr. Kim grumbles a bit about it). They do a good job 90% of the time and they get to know their customers and our peccadillos really well. Great neighborhood cleaners. read more

When the zipper broke after I tried on a formal gown at the boutique, Ella Rue, next door, the owner of the boutique walked me (and the dress) to Mrs. Koh at New York Cleaners. My dress was a deep eggplant, and Mrs Koh said she would make a trip to G Street Fabrics in Rockville so she could find a zipper that matched. I later found out that the fabric store didn't have the color, so Mrs. Koh special ordered the zipper - now that's service! She also created a bustle for the train with a fabric covered button. Excellent quality and service - highly recommend. I just wish I lived closer so I could use them more often! read more

Mrs. Koh is fabulous for alterations. I have taken many a dress that needed a nip and a tuck -- which makes all the difference -- sizing in most department stores is a minefield. She always goes the extra mile especially if you need it fast. The drycleaning is also superb. read more

The tailoring done for me here has been just exquisite, including several pieces requiring complicated alterations such as a dress (side seam and slanting bottom hem), jeans (waist and stitched hem) and two skirts (waist and side seams). Were it not for recommendations from clerks at a beloved local gift shop, I would not have known to come here. Perhaps this is supposed to be a local secret, but I am grateful and want to share that. read more

I would not take expensive jeans here to be altered. I brought 2 pairs, asked for the original hems to be reattached, and when I picked them up they had standard half-inch hems like they were khakis or something. She explained that when the jeans haven't been worn much, she doesn't reattach the hems because it makes them bulky. I'm not sure why this wasn't discussed BEFORE I left them to be altered - I specifically asked for original hems because that's how I wanted them. Won't be going back. read more

First time using them, the staff is incredibly friendly. The reason why I am only giving three stars at this point is because they did not have my clothes ready when they said they would. I was in the middle of a huge project, took time to go get my clothes, around 5pm and they only had my suits. My shirts were no where to be found. Instead of telling me this, they asked if I really needed the shirts today. I usually would oblige an extra day with not too much fuss, but I had a trip the next morning and needed the clothing that was MIA. In fairness to Mr. Koh, he arranged to have my shirts brought from the cleaning facility that same evening, waited until after closing, and called me the moment they arrived, so that I could still pick them up that night. He also gave me a discount on top of the normal student discount he already gave me. So, moral of the story, they are not perfect, but they seem to try and make things right. The prices are a little high, but not exorbitant, and frankly, their prices are lower than most of the other spots in Georgetown. The pressing was perfect, and my suits look better than they have in a while. The Kohs do seem to take pride in their work. read more
